  1. It always surprises me when I hear someone lament that the 80s weren't that great.
  2. I could soooooooo listen to a zillion, or at least a million, covers of this song!
  3. 1st and foremost: MP is nowhere near a den o' thieves. Sweeping generalities will ruin your inworld fun just as quick as they do in RL. I am all for waving flags of caution to newbies, and all buyers beware. A sign-carrying citizen here. But MP is largely trustable if one reads every single ad very very carefully, and get demos where you can, and make your own rule boundaries about purchases and stick to them, and *take responsibility for being your own bestie* when here and there you got pinched. Best thing I ever did was set a dollar boundary for really feeling "taken", and inserting self-control when I shopped on MP to make sure I stayed within my own rules that I committed to. Kind of: How much can I lose blindly before it ruins my mood and slows my roll inworld. No different than RL online shopping site, ie you buy a $10 car online, you better be expecting to receive a hot wheelee lol. In my case, I just don't buy over that L$ amount unless a demo is present, and/or I know the seller from past purchases etc., and/or I at least see them still inworld here-and-there so I know if a problem exists I can at least ask them how to/about it. And hey questions via IM or Notecard before buying is great too if its a larger L$ amount. Ref: I just looked at my MP orders. Oldest one Nov 2010 lol. I was gearing up for clickin some keys over the years. With the default 5 orders setting, I have over 1300 pages of 5 invoices a page (mostly 10 items to an invoice). Over all that experience, I can recall one truly bad purchase product/seller ad. I think that's incredible. Two additional items certainly were not the sellers issue: I should have read the ad closer. *And after that, I surely have read ads better*. So to me, data shows a really super MP. For buyers.
  4. OK I just exhausted myself uploading two simple new ads. The "Quick Fill" button was completely useless - didn't fill in a darn thang-not quick, not at all. The external browser upload pics button refused to work - had to go back to the viewer internal browser to add pics. OK so fine, whatever, moving on I said. Then realized several items from December promo prices (marked back up early January) reverted all by themselves to December promo prices and have been that way for who knows how long I guess (in 1 case was at L$1). And and... It is not just one type of cross-up/change between updates, or two items uploaded/associated, but several different misdirects or whatever. But cleaning up a mess when one did not know there was one (and did not make the mess) is not much fun. Did I miss a major MP roll-back that would explain the updated-boxes sitting in unlisted again (but text was still updated), or some update that went sideways at MP since Jan 1? What is wrong is just so varied, it seems like a roll-back.
  5. @Ina FairportOne of my fav intros ever!!
  6. *waves hi!* and to those celebrating, happy holiday!
  7. it continues to amaze me how users, even myself, momentarily forget this is a cartoon made-up whatever-you-wanna-roleplay-today thing at every login. Year after year. And that rereading stuff from that mindset just doesn't make arguing that important about RL stuff like [insert word here]. Visible cartoony rez date gives ya anxiety? Be kind to your body I say! What a great life SL is, when ya gotta make up something to be stressed about I guess, so congrats! Rez day just don't mean nothin but that ya could type on that date.
  8. Adding, along the general part of the discussion = lower sales... So I suspect that many of ya'll do as I do when the holidays approach: I deck out my alts! This can be a head, a body, bodies, shoes, use gift certificates, really visit the sales. Purchases I made in Casper vendors inworld at some of the oldest most reliable shops around for shoes, hair, clothes as "gifts" for two separate alts, took to a week to arrive - so long I almost forgot I got the stuff for them had to search that maybe I was mistaken! They finally came, but... a week later? I don't get that. What's that about - the Lindens were taken instantly, showed instantly in my primary account's info. Too, I changed an alt profile yesterday, updated both images and text - uploaded the images to my inventory, added from my inventory to my profile, resaved it. Pulled profile up later yesterday after being on awhile and it showed the new stuff. Today I go to send something to them, and I pull up the profile and its all the old stuff still! So it isn't just Marketplace disappointments. Casper and even profile update/saves (either failing or seriously lagging) too. A pretty old-school expectation, that updating a profile and gift purchases through Casper vendors will work and send in less-than a week (or at least before I totally forget I sent them).
  9. Always such generosity, makes the holidays even brighter! Got in 1st time on Premium, alts worked a little on it, but only like 5-7-ish tries and I got there yay! Happy Holidays!!
  10. We've kind of beat this to death by now, aye? I'm sorry but I just never read anyone saying that at all. I read them saying, make your own decisions, police your own house, take your risks like they take theirs *if the Lindens care - and they just may not care much*, take your punishment from the Lindens if they do, and don't be a bonk-head and burden your neighbors visuals. To be honest, I think the covenant the last time I read it, mentions a version of both, and if it does then yes, both are wrong.
  11. And one of them is me. Just testifying to fact. I'm good with facts. Perceptions? A scary way to punish society is on perceptions. Judgment on perception is why we have incarcerated the wrong people, and tens-of-years later after we - community RL - have stolen their youth and choices for decades, we then see them released/proven wrongfully jailed. Give me facts (lag) or specific literal rule in the covenant, and (for good or bad) the rule is what it is.
  12. In my experience, this doesn't seem to be a common perception. There are reasons to send ARs which issue rises to the level of intrusion upon one's own owner/rental space which should be sent. Everyone decides what that level is for themselves. And as ARs are between a user and Lindens only, none can be "wrong".
  13. Well said. And TBH, we forget sometimes that there are users who do not come to SL every day for hours and hours, year after year. I mean, could this be a new user came in, rezzed two pets out and they have not been able to log back in due to RL for a few weeks/months?
  14. *Waves Hi!* Your position and reasoning understood. My reasoning would be different. Prior stated, no value at regurgitating. We agreed in one part of your statement, and I am absolutely fine and sure you are also, that we live different roles here. We each evolve in our own way over the years here. To each, yours and mine, their own. Cheers to the thinking folk!
  15. *Waves Hiya* You and I naturally agree that reporting should be done. In my case, what is, is what is, unless it is extreme. Broken functionality also already has its place to report. You and I agree on that, absolutely. And we do not disagree that the Lindens do need help identifying functionality. I believe what we disagree on sounds like non-functional things. Kitty Kats in hovertext-only static boxes lined up on the floor doesn't seem to be breaking anything but a covenant rule * (and I might even debate that I would have to reread a lot to be sure first) . Lag "possibility" as a break? I dunno, I've always considered that on the users end: Tweak your pc, connections, isp, etc. and if that don't work, um, move. And I have time and again, and raised my living circumstance. I believe we Agree on a lot there. What we might seem to disagree on is on me (a User) reporting the non-extreme behavior of others, in their own rented/owned place, doing their own thing within those boundaries. Lindens have not hired me to do that, have not asked me to do that, and so I choose to not. Covenants are structures, and again, I've not been hired to be the Covenant police, and my job is that me-myself-and-I go by any Covenants I agree to go by. Again, functionality breaks are a completely different discussion. If someone placed their huge Kitty Kat over *my* property line and it didn't go poof when I set it to auto-return, that's an extreme, and extreme enough that I would feel the need to contact the owner 1st, and if weeks and no response, then report it and would. If it was inside their own rented/owned parcel and not on mine? I would not report it. It is not my job, until its my job. Yes, volunteers are needed, RL and SL, naturally, I volunteer, but I volunteer to do the job asked of me. I don't volunteer to do job 1, then walk in and self-expand my power to "owner" without being given that by the owner(s). To me, and I hope to you, as we are thinking folk, I certainly believe its fine that we play and report differently. And you can bet, when the Lindens contact me to ask me to do it as a job specifically, I would do the job. And if those reporting have been hired by the Lindens to do a job, then we would agree I suspect the one being asked/agreeing to be the behavior police should do it, including camming in to other's properties. But I've never seen a Linden directive to report a similar issue in this way through these forums.
  16. I get this and agree completely! I ended up with several permapets over the years that I was just soooo attached to!
