  1. /me takes off my cloak of Ravens Feathers. I could tell you...but then I would have to initiate you into an eldritch world...perhaps better to draw a discrete veil over such matters. /me makes a mystic pass with his hand..."These are not the droids you are looking for".
  2. Hail Sister. Merry Meet. I am a Stag of Seven Tines...I am the rustle of leaves in a forest of vastness...I am dead but will be rise again....I am the light of a newborn star....I am the Question, and sometimes the Answer. I am a poster in a forum. Blesséd Be.
  3. Ancient and venerable is the alter of Freya....Fair are her daughters...wise in the ways of weird are they. Mighty too is Odin...9 days and nights he hung from the tree...pieced by his own spear....wise in rune-knowledge he became. I clothe myself in a cloak of Ravens feathers...I lie in a river submerged to the neck...a heavy stone placed on my chest...Poetry issues forth from my mouth....I sing of my people...our wanderings...our hunts...our victories and defeats...I am a spear for throwing...I am the glint in the eye of a wolf...I am a harp for plucking..I am the thought that dies on the lips, for want of word-cunning.. That is all.
  4. @Ellyn It is not that easy to find really good Black skins in SL....many skin makers just use their normal Brown-skinned templates and darken the tone a little. If I may presumptuously mark your card...Chip Midnights are excellent....and Second Skin Labs have a beautiful female Black skin. In the old days when these 2 Luminaries of the SL SKin trade used to contribute to these forums...they often spoke about how getting a Black Skin right was the toughest challenge for a skin maker....Way more work for a smaller profit. Neither of my suggestions are at the cheaper end of the market...indeed they are very expensive....but their work has a dedication to excellence that few on the grid can emulate. And yes kitting out a Black Avatar is super-fun.
  5. Interesting discussion. I often ( not exclusiveley ) use an African-American avatar. Why? Cause it looks good...and I love the detailing of the skin. Also...many of my musical heroes are Black....so who wouldnt want to look like their heroes now and again. I remember a thread about this years ago on the old forums...when many Black in RL peeps said they used white AV's...this was followed by the usual howls of outrage and remorse from guilty white peeps. The blackscene in SL revolved around music venues...epsecially hip-hop. Which is fine and all...but many of my black friends in RL wouldnt be found in a Hip-Hop Joint.....more likely to find them at the Opera or a Jazz gig. I dont feel any pressure when I am using my black avi to speak ebonics...I speak the same way whatever Avatar I am wearing. I also have an asian avi...a fat baldy white avi...and a rather rugged looking white avi...who looks like he just got out of jail. I wish more people used African looking skins...it would add more variety to SL. Why dont you give it a try...Black is Beautiful....you do wanna be beautiful...Right???
  6. I know exactly how to do it...but I wont tell you...because to make these noise gestures at clubs is very VERY retarded. It is not big...it is not clever...if you do it...you will be despised by all right-thinking people. The guy in this thread who thinks they are cool is a F**kwit...do not listen to him. People who use these in SL are known as gesturbators...and are totally reviled. If you wanna have fun in a club in SL....try talking to people instead...I promise...you will have way more fun.
  7. Teleporting could result in attatchments ending up in your ass ( Hair and shoes )...very commonplace. What was more rare... and highly prized...was somtimes a glitch in the grid resulted in your head ending up in your ass. I say highly prized...but this depended on the point of view of the operator.....some were amused and some were miffed. When I joined SL...I had no idea there was any sexually related content. And yet I ended up on a XXX pose ball within 40 mins of joining. I inoocently clicked to teleport to a castle...and...um....learned the strange ways of Sl pronto. I have often wondered if this initial view of SL has coloured my view of the grid. :matte-motes-big-grin-evil:

I only ever got the one bear in SL and it was damaged in transit it seems I don't think I'll be getting another any time soon :matte-motes-crying: Oh Hi Maryanne I am sailing up the Queensland coast next week to Cairns... Port Douglas...but Alas the ship doesnt stop at that beautiful Island. I Love that picture...it looks like an object of worship to some cargo cult. I bet his name is something like..."Him Big Fella...belong in the sky...makes Prince Phillip return to the Island".
  12. Ima Rang wrote: Orfeu Miles wrote: See! This is why we can't have nice things. You give a man an inch and he tries to give you...ummm... Ya Know...your right. Nice things are important. I can see I have de-railed this thread...and showed a deplorabe lack of decorum. /me looks shamefaced. Look ...I tell ya what...please allow me to help restore your clothing to something a little more decorous. ( starts salivating) ( I know...I know... Honestly... I try to be good...I had an x-ray...and they coudnt find any good in me )

Takes one to know one! Comere and give me hug! Hugs Ima for an inapropriate amount of time. Caresses your butt and then looks all innocent. :matte-motes-evil-invert: Ok...who else is up for some group-hug action ?? Ok ok, I'm in. Hmmm this could start to get kinky. Only one thing to do when things start to get kinky. Send for a machinimatographer. I hear Torley is all over that s**t.

  19. Some interesting reactions to the Oldbies poking their snouts into this thread. From: "Get off my lawn" :matte-motes-big-grin-evil: "Its the Oldbies fault we couldn't have nice things" "Whaddya mean this forum has no Personality….Personality, I haz it" to "Welcome back…help us fight the good fight". I see the universal propensity to whining hasn't abated much…although less couched in inflammatory swearing. So this incarnation of the SLF is now a Care-Bears picnic. Cool. I am psyched for y'all. :matte-motes-evil-invert: I would merely point out, that the voice of dissent is a useful thing…that people who disagree with us…and can state why in an eloquent and persuasive manner….are also builders of community. Furthermore…the original founding sentiments of SL, are built on a largeness of vision…an acceptance of danger, disagreement and loss…as well as an ability to co-operate and come together…. these ideals are in danger of being swept away by a glossy sanitized version of SL. What initially attracted me to SL…and this forum…was the variety of expression and viewpoint. A culture of tolerance towards difference. There are of course a very tiny minority who are downright trolls…with nothing useful whatsoever to contribute. Alas…this label is also used to stifle dissent…to tarnish those who simply disagree with us. You might well draw the line in a different place than I do. I would argue for a more inclusive spirit to the SLF. This includes accepting contrary opinions, and styles…without resorting to reporting to moderators….or off-handedly labeling people as trolls. Some peep's style is warm and cuddly…others prefer a sharp and abrasive discourse. Its a big world….a big Second Life…and a big Internet. So your style is different than mine. So What ?? @Cinnamon… Nice Post
  20. Dresden Ceriano wrote: , but what good does it do to come here and wax poetic about some old drama filled wasteland that will, hopefully, never see the light of day again? ...Dres Perhaps that was your experience of it. It wasn't mine. Why come here and comment on the change of vibe in th SLF?? Out of respect for Ima....and some of the names on 3rd party forums who keep extolling the virtues of this place. Things change...er...duh...yeah I get that. I aint complaining about that. If throwing out the baby with the bathwater is the preferred solution to how to run a corporate forum...then by all means carry on. I wish you joy of your clean and civilised "community". :matte-motes-oh-rly:
  21. Hi Sylvia...nice to see ya again. :matte-motes-big-grin:
  22. I haven't posted on the official SL forums for years. There is an historical pattern here though. The old Prok type flame feasts resulted in a shutdown followed by mass emigration to 3rd party forums. The more recent Hiatus resulted in the same. I still have a nostalgic feeling about the old forums though…so much scintillating humor…so many surreal de-rails. I guess this incarnation of the SL forums must feel a tad sanitized to some of the old-timers. But there are plenty of other SL-type forums to get your troll on. If Newbie posters are less shouted down here…that seems a wholly good thing. Charismatic and colorful posters…might find it harder to colour inside the lines here…but the SL forums aint the only game in town. Waves @ Chris Norse….Hey chris…long time-no rez. :matte-motes-big-grin:
