I can't help new people as much as I'd like because I cling to V1. I really really like V1 and V2 was just awful for me. I need a very, very good reason to even dare to download this onto my PC with nearly 3 years of history to lose. Why should it wipe your History ? I still have all my chatlogs and TP history since my Rezday.
  2. Yep, very nice to see that a LOT is now customizable ! (One can even hide ALL controls!) Unfortunatly for me the Notifications in the top right are rather inconvinient, especially since they are hidden if another Window is open there Would be nice to customize the location of this too. Can't say much about most of the control windows, cause i don't use em. But stability should definatly improved Also, the locations and sizes of the Windows don't seem to be saved. And finally, Subfolders in Places Tab (Window) are still expanded !!!!!!! WHY ????????? This is a MAYOR pain for ppl with more than 20 LM's. But otherwise, some really nice improvements and a very big step forward !!
  3. I fear the problem lies with your Graphic Card. SL and Intel Graphix never really liked each other and it is a very low end card too. Maybe you should invest in a new Card there.
  4. If you wear Primeyes, you're out of luck. This is just the way Prims are handeled by SL. One way to try to fix this would be wearing some kind of different Eyes.
  5. Mostly the Mute feature is used on objects. For a Person, they really have to earn their way onto the Blocklist, but if they manage to do that, they are there to stay. Possible reasons for this would be for example: repeated display of idiocy or when a person can't seem to grasp the concept of the word "No".
  6. Kasya Sciavo wrote: .....so, that's allright then? The whole problem is the astonishing lack of appreciation and arrogance of LL for it's customers, which - sadly - under the new CEO boy-blunder (who I see cozily replied in a thread to the usual apologists and brown-nosers - who completely forget they are paying customers - about some interview he did ) is not getting any better. Do you think Apple would have bought out something as dire as V2/3 in RL? Nope. But even, perish the thought they were that incompetent, it would have been either binned or corrected lon gbefore now. Well, wasn't Apple the company that brought the world this OS Crap named Lion ? But seriously, i don't see a problem if a user everyonce in a while takes a look into prefs. I really don't need to be spoonfed every bit of new stuff. But then again, i also do not use the Onscreen Camera Controls.
  7. Sounds like a cool idea at 1st. BUT Considering how much this would add to server traffic, i don't really like it that much.
  8. This seems to be a bug in recent Viewers (at least since 2.8). For whatever reasons ALL folders in the Landmark tab are expanded. There is a JIRA about it somewhere.
  9. carissabelle wrote: My home location always gets removed when they have events on the sim. Then it would take me to a safe hub. And i have to set a new "Home" again. Why is that? One possible reason for this would be if the Sim is simply to full. If there are too many Avatars on your "Homesim" when you try to log in, SL per default , logs you in on the next available Safe-Hub. Hope this helps
  10. Well, i hope that LL has at least some Beta-Testers for this new UI testing it NOW. Could do wonders about streamling whatever they try to do. Or, we all get to be Beta-Testers when it gets out.
  11. Hmm, haven't seen it with Hair yet, but got a similar prob with other Prim-attachments like skirts or glasses. After some time online there allways seems to be ONE prim-attachment to be sticky
  12. Normally you can correct this if you just click on "refresh" ! This can be done by clicking on your L$ Amount on the Topbar of your Viewer. Stuff like this happens from time to time, but normally no cause for concern ETA: Oops, just saw that Innula allready gave that advice
  13. JeanneAnne wrote: Okay, this is what I observed. Unchecking the HTTP textures in Viewer 2 seems to have carried over to Firestorm. My avatar's tattoos and the pattern on her outfit were crisp and in focus all evening. However, what I noticed was that other avatars stayed gray for a loooooooooong time. I hadn't typically had this problem before. Could unchecking HTTP textures cause a delay in me being able to see other avs as anything more than gray outlines for like 15 or 20 minutes? Did fixing one problem create a new one? Jeanne Sometimes it helps to just zoom in at other Avi's. Seems to be something about, how textures work or so, not sure. This definatly helps when for example your Shoes don't seem to rez, zoom in and voila!
  14. JeanneAnne wrote: Ok, thanks Ariel. I pressed Ctrl-Alt-q in my version of Firestorm & nothing happened. I'll keep looking. But in Viewer2 I opened the Develop menu in the top tool bar & unchecked HTTP textures, and no longer had the fuzzieness problem, at least with Viewer2. This may carry over into Firestorm but I don't know yet. Will find out this evening, I guess. Jeanne You can also enable the Devoloper Menu somewhere in the Advanced Menu (ctrl+alt+D). Hope this works in Firestorm too Depending on the Skin you use, you might also be able to do all this via Preferences, but i'm not sure, because i don't have Firestorm installed anymore.
  15. Do you mean the same ppl that yell at anyone using an official Viewer, "Why do you use that crappy s...? " ? Muting these users makes my SL much more enjoyable
  16. If people stick to an outdated Viewer, that's their problem ! There are plenty of Mesh-capable Viewers out by now, Firestorm being the closest to Phoenix. And i sincerly doubt that percentage you mention.
  17. For some different Skins for the official Viewer, take a look here : http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Viewer_Skins/Starlight
  18. This could be a prob with the HTTP Textures. Have you tried to disable them ? You can do that in the Developer Menu (ctrl+alt+Q)
  19. leliel Mirihi wrote: It's really has nothing to do with things being pre loaded and everything to do with the content in games being made by artist that went to school and learned how to make optimized content. Artist that have product managers standing behind them saying no you can't do that due to performance reasons. Where as content in SL is made by hobbyist that don't know and don't care. Me tries to remember just what the last game ( on the PC) was that was made by professionals who "Optimized for performance" and if, on what kind of Ultra-High-End Machine ! .... Nope, can't remember one
  20. You do realise, that IF the Cry2 Engine would be used, thousands of users would have a slideshow and not something moving on their screen ? (And being optimized for a console is just that, optimized for a CONSOLE!!)
Hoffe dies hilft
  22. Firestorm Beta Mesh has the same probs as the official Viewer, it's an OpenGL Issue with Nvidia cards !
  23. There is some privacy now for those who want it. With the newer Viewers, i can at least prevent ppl outside my parcel/land to see my Avi (also i do not see those outside mine). But quite honestly, i really don't care that much about other ppl camming, it's only a pixelated figure on the screen after all, not me!
  24. Ian Undercroft wrote: Tristizia - now you mention it, I had been contemplating the effect that de-rendering might have on mesh clothing. Depending on the Clothes, i guess most will be terribly disappointed when they see ......NOTHING!!! (I knew these Alpha Layers were good for something )
  25. As long as they still try to "perv" and not simply derender
