  1. Oz, some people (like me) would gladly use the "normal" release Viewer, unfortunatly that is a bit problematic if it ALLWAYS crashes at Startup The new Dev-Built (3.2.1 (243792)) is the first of the new UI-Viewers (or any with a 3 in front) i can actually use at all! Please see to it, that whatever fix was included in that Built, makes its way into the regular one, so that it is possible to at least log-in!
  2. This certainly sounds like your cache is corrupted. A cleaning of your cache should be able to fix this
  3. I am still using as my day-to-day Viewer the Project Windlight Region (V2.7.6). And apart from not being able to see Meshstuff, it is working allmost flawlessly. It doesn't crash it's fast and it (apart from Mesh) has everything i need in a Viewer! So i would say it's allmost perfect
  4. Linda Brynner wrote: I would not use the official viewer 2 or 3 Victoria, it is way to buggy. There are so many glitches. It is not for nothing not many actually use it (less than 10%). Most users login with 3rd parties or the 1.23. I would suggest to take a look at those. I would really like to know where you get your numbers from Ohh, and btw, there are plenty of TPV's which are basically V2 too (Firestorm, Dolphin 3, Kirstens etc.), just sayin! To the OP, as much as some ppl like the old Viewer, it's a thing of the past as more and more funtionality is missing in them that is available in a modern Viewer! And for the Camera Controls, i prefer the crtl+alt+Mousebutton Method any time over that cumbersome Camerawindowthingie

  6. I guess you mean the size of your SL-Window, because the screen resolution is allways the same as your Desktop. You can set the Window Size under Advanced Menu/Set Window Size
  7. What was this old saying? "Every Country gets the Government it deserves" ? Although i can't see what the US did to deserve something like the Rep. Candidates.
  8. You can do this with every kind of Layer or attachment (not sure though about Physics-Layer ).
  9. The only thing you can do with the new UI, is to place all your Buttons at the place where the sidebar was. At least it will look like you have it back. Otherwise, your out of luck.
  10. Eric Castanea wrote: No, it's more like there is an LL fan club. And it's defacing the holy grail by criticizing anything LL. It's why I don't post here much. Enjoy your sl. Well, this "LL Fan" also uses a TPV (Dolphin 3), not solely but as an alternative. But it seems we are dealing with a member of the Phoenix/Firestorm Fanclub here, and by not recognizing the utter greatness of these, we're not worthy of your attention!
  11. Eric Castanea wrote: *sighs* I was hoping people would be more open-minded. To bad I can't delete the thread. If by "openminded" you mean, everyone here has to share your opinion, well, it seems your outta luck
  12. Well, then you seem to do something wrong ! I get on the official Viewer the same (even slightly more fps) than on Firestorm, and i don't crash. Firestorm crashes a LOT !
  13. Eric Castanea wrote: I can't imagine any new users are having a good first experience on LL's viewer with average hardware. Seriously. I know the hardware nazis with $500 graphics card will disagree, but it's obvious that somehow new people need a better introduction to Second Life. They need to have alternate viewers more readily available, so they can see the potential of sl immediately, not have to struggle with a poor performing, unstable viewer. Flame away. I don't have a Graphics Card for $500 (far from it even), and SL works quite fine for me And i seriously doubt that if i would use, let's say Phoenix, i am able to experience the full "potential" of SL :matte-motes-wink-tongue: Too much features are still missing on a lot of the TPV's!!
  14. Eric Castanea wrote: Not to mention horrible, horrible, frame rates. But hey, it has a new interface! *facepalm* My system specs: CPU: Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.20GHz (2800 MHz) Memory: 3022 MB OS Version: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Sun Sep 19 20:34:50 UTC 2010 i686 Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GT 430/PCI/SSE2 OpenGL Version: 4.1.0 NVIDIA 260.19.06 LL doesn't seem to get it. This is what new users of second life see. Crap. *shrugs* You do know that 3.2.1 is a Development Built Viewer ? Nobody ever said that these are (or even should be) stable!
  15. I can't remember him ever saying anything like it. In fact he even spoke at some time, that a lot of people use SL exactly for this kind of "more private" purposes, without adding something like that this will vanish or so.
  16. Different place ? As far as i can see in my Viewer, Delete is allways in the same place!! (In the case of Folders allways the last option) Wear/add/detach is allways below!
  17. Err, if that kind of Menu is optional, it's ok as i allready said. I just don't want this to be forced upon Users (like me) who don't wan't (or like) a Pie Menu, that's all.
  18. Strange. Sometimes the Textures get loaded multiple times though (due to lag and such). Does this still happen if you just wait some minutes ? Another possibility could be that you accidentaly enabled Full-Res Textures and your compy just can't handle them. Look in the Devolp-Menu (ctrl+alt+Q) under Rendering and uncheck Full-Res Textures. Hope this helps
  19. Well, if or if not SL "might" run on it isn't probably the question. Giving the normal rates Apple asks App-Providers as a fee, i can't imagine LL are willing to pay Apple that much money.
  20. Lingsais Airy wrote: Did somebody noticed that SL is going backwards? - Rezz time takes longer - Log-in time takes longer - Need a super computer to use SL (if you want to see some good stuff) - The building menu is getting weirder - The extra's in the Preference's menu's and other menu's are tomuch of the good stuff - Mesh (People like it, or people hate it) - The loading of people takes longer - Voice chat does not always work - Prices are to high for the people without a SL job or good selling shop (like me) - People are getting more and more un-friendly What is abouth all this stuff? SL is in the world for an escape from the real hard world. But the real hard world is getting easier to understand than SL. Let tackle these in order: 1. Nope 2. Definatly nope!! 3. Depends. I can use SL perfectly fine with an 6-8 year old Compy. (Try this with some of the Games available out now) And for seeing the "good stuff", well i can't play Crysis II with the same compy i played Eye of the Beholder either, so that's life. 4. Can't say much about it, works for me, though i'm not a builder. 5. I like it that i can twist SL for MY needs, so this is ok. 6. Just another tools for all the amazing creators out in SL! 7. Not sure about this, but i tend to say no. 8. Don't use Voice. 9. Depends HIGHLY on where you look imo. 10. Depends on the ppl, as in RL too. If someone gets on my nerves -> MUTE.
  21. Medhue Simoni wrote: Oh, I like this alot. Kudos to LL!! Now, if I could only get the pie menu back. The pie menu insured that you would not click the wrong thing, using muscle memory clicks. With out rightclick menus, things are always in a different place, and it is quite easy to choose the wrong thing. I sure hope that the Pie -Menu stays where it is right now, AWAY!! Or at least, that it is made an optional feature that can be switched on for the folks who want it.
  22. Well, then you also know that this won't work Updates have to be forced upon users or they won't be applied, ask any Admin and you will get exactly this answer.
  23. Only problem here would be, since SL is a Worldwide thingie, there is allways some customer for which the restart is inconvinient. I don't see how that particular Prob can be handeled, other than the regular intervals that we have now.
  24. Eloise Baily wrote: When V2 first came out it wiped the folder for some people. They lost everything. Ahh. Well, V2 actually improved a bit in all those years. Just sayin
