  1. Yeah that was weird but, it does happen. I had a guy on my land once who was sitting around lounging when I logged on and started yelling at me saying it was HIS land and threatening to ban me if I didn't leave! It was annoying at first and then it was just funny. I finally told him that if it really was his parcel that he could just eject and ban me right then. I dared him to. Of course, he couldn't and I shortly treated him to the old eject and ban treatment.

I don't know whether to be offended or flattered! I thought these guys looked familiar, though.

    Don't worry.

Its just your minions on the march to conquer the world in your grand and illustrious name.

Pretty soon we'll all be paying homage to you, so this is not exactly a bad thing.
    ;)

Wow, I've always wanted legions of minions bent on world domination in my name. This being the case, please carry on by all means my scripted accolytes!

  3. My computer is a custom-built, high spec gaming rig using up to date hardware and the most current version of my TPV of choice. Go ahead and give me a smartass reply about how I should stop using a toaster because sometimes mesh refuses to render properly for me as well.

Perhaps the fault lies in the Lab's half-assed implementation and rushed deployment of mesh? Oh heavens no, that couldn't possibly be the issue! Blame the end users, that's the ticket!

Maybe some of you LL apologists should climb down from those high horses you're perched on before you get a terminal nosebleed.

  4. To the OP: You say you don't judge but, the whole tone of your post seems to say differently. If the person's preferences weren't in line with yours why make a big deal of it by starting a thread about it? Simply declining and moving on would seem to be the reasonable course of action instead of making a mocking post about your encounter. Goodness knows I've seen plenty of human males in the same circumstances over the years which is why I don't routinely turn on highlight transparent.

To Pussycat: you're normally far more informed and informative than this. You're spreading FUD by making these blatantly false statements.

    • Random noobs who fall from the sky or wander into your home and then proceed to make themselves at home without ever saying a word.
    • Above mentioned noobs who then offer you a friendship request, again without ever saying so much as "hello".
    • Random TP offers.
    • People who complain about having to pay for items. (100L is less than 75 cents U.S. for goodness sake and content creators deserve to get paid for their work!)
    • Unthinking LL cheerleaders.
  5. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

/me waits for Kwalyphi to answer this one :matte-motes-little-laugh:

Edit: Oops, my bad. Kwal is a chipmunk, not a woodchuck! I still hope he takes a crack at this one though as his responses are frequently hilarious.

ATI and Apple have not put as much effort into OpenGL as nVidia and Windows has. The OS drivers and video card drivers are just not as good on the Apple side.

This might come as a bit of a surprise to Apple and ATI both of whom sit on the OpenGL architecture board and were founding members of the OpenGL consortium along with IBM, Dell, Sun, Microsoft (who left the consortium to focus on their DirectX hegemony), Nvidia and Intel.

  7. The LL Mac client just flat out stinks. As much as I'd like to blame it on AMD/ATI's weak support for OpenGL in their graphics drivers I even have issues on my MacBook Pro that has an Nvidia graphics processor. Problems as in getting 10-15 fps less than when using somewhat equivalent Windows hardware and various graphical anomalies. I finally got tired of fighting and built myself a gaming PC for SL and other games.

I think the issue is more the fault of LL's questionable coding and AMD's questionable OpenGL support than Apple's.

  8. How very sad but, also very much correct.

When the Lab's CEO recently stated that the latest Marketplace feature rollout was handled in an unacceptable manner (in response to a merchant's question) it was posted on Twitter, not these forums where marchants have hundreds of questions and comments regarding the various bugs in Direct Delivery.

I wonder if anyone at LL understands the importance of PR, marketing or customer relationship management.

    (Edited for a lame typo)

  9. Just another indication of how little LL really cares about its customers. They've dealt us a double dose of 'screw you' here; they're washing their hands of yet another chance at community building and customer engagement by bailing on organizing the event and insulting our collective intelligence by trying to spin their abandonment as somehow positive. Shame on them.

If the Lab doesn't have the resources, or simply doesn't want to reallocate limited resources for SL9B, then why not just level with us? I'm getting damned tired of them spitting on me and trying to convince me that it's raining. :smileymad:

(I also posted this in the events thread)
