  1. Ok, I know what it is. My chat preferences and how it's set up to handle chat messages that come in. Going to play with those some more, I may have to change some settings (in case someone else uses this viewer and has the same problem I do.

Click the button to the right of the text entry field with the "down" arrow - this will shrink the window to the text entry field alone and incoming chat will pop up above it as toasts. I tried it, and it sort of works, but then a group chat comes in and it steals the focus and I find myself typing in that window that pops up. Very distracting. The Firestorm folks say that's the code they'll be using for the next version of firestorm. Hopefully they'll also pick up the Cocoa fix that this one seems to have. I can't deal with that window being there all the time.

Awesome thanks! Will try that tonight! That window for all local chat is too obnoxious for words.
  4. So I tried this one out. I'm on a Mac and suffering from that horrible Cocoa bug that SL picked up (and it's not Yosemite, this existed in Mavericks) so thought I'd try one of the release candidates. Experience works like a champ! It loads quickly, no chat lag, seem to be more efficient with system resources too. My only question with it is, is there any way to get local chat to show up in toasts on the screen instead of popping up a window? I was looking for the local chat input box on the bottom, but you have to type in a window that blocks your view of everything. It was so disruptive I had to go back to Singularity viewer. Didn't see anything in Preferences that would turn that off, can someone help? If this isn't the right place for this, I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks much in advance!
  5. Has this been reported to Apple? Who would do this, LL or the users? If the users, then how do we report it - or at least how would we write it up? What part of Apple code is affected? I'm on the latest build of OS X, 10.10.3 and it's as bad as it ever was. If it IS an Apple issue, I certainly don't mind hounding THEM about it. A little help from the Lindens would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much for your reply. It very likely IS an Apple issue, and I appreciate your reply letting me/us know what the thinking (most probably) is over there.
  6. Is there any work or interest in fixing this bug for Mac users? This bug has been opened for a year and some third party viewers have picked this up too which renders SL unusable for people. I found a third party viewer that escaped this nasty thing, but I probably won't be updating that in case that one does get the wrong piece of LL code and I won't be able to use that one either. I'm a DJ in world and I volunteer for Relay For Life and I'd like to be able to function in world. Sorry for letting my frustraton show, but it's frustrating to support a service that doesn't seem to support a portion of their users. I've been in world for more than seven years and it's starting to feel like nothing's being done to correct this issue. I know it's not going to be fixed overnight, but a year?
  7. Is there any way to find out who is holding events for Japan Relief? I am getting my bear, but I DJ and if anyone is holding an event to benefit Japan relief, I'm available. God bless Japan!
