  1. It was a bad Sunday on the Grid and many people were complaining. In fact, the Blake didn't have that much aircraft traffic as far as i could see because people didn't bother flying because of the trouble. Other things were affected to like TPing, rezzing etc. It seemed a general problem and I agree with Wolfi that it probably wasn't down to LL or SL. Even the SL websites were a bit funny. I did also notice 3 sims were taken away just to the west of the Blake near Miami Airport (Terric).
  2. Yep, having loadsa problems too. The Grid def has a performance issue but not seeing anything on the Grid Status Report, so maybe it isn't down to LL but something outside of their control.
  3. Yes. Class 5 versus class 7 but haven't seen any for class 8. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/mono2-performance/Performance-comparisons-Class-5-vs-Class-7-amp-Mono-1-vs-Mono-2/td-p/870129
  4. In theory, the higher the class number of the server, the better it is able to perform. The regions were running on the following distribution of server class @ 2 September 2012 Class 501 7.7% Class 502 2.2% Class 503 26.1% Class 701 38.0% Class 703 14.0% Class 801 12.0% http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/virtual-business/8523-new-sl-sims-past-week-77.html#post1627701 See also http://community.secondlife.com/t5/qanda/questionpage/blog-id/sla_technical/article-id/26498
  5. Since switching to Viewer 3 I have had the same problem and I can't work it out either.
  6. Well Tor, not too sure why suddenly things are bad for you. There is this funny thing been happening last couple of weeks or so, where the viewer seems to loose contact with what is actually happening in SL. I find that letting it ride will eventually bring viewer and SL back in to sync. It doesn't happen that often and I am beginning to know which sims it happens on mostly. Otherwise, do you really need those scripts attached to you? No scripts except the ones for the plane and HUD is the best option, always ! Can you get a no script outfit/look and try that ? You can change as soon as you land if you wanna look your best for the rest of us, LOL. I fly loads in SL and recently things have been pretty good for me especially this week, which is why I am a bit lost with your problem, but i understand how disappointing a messed up flight can be. I can take you flying some time so we can do some tests if you want, just get in contact with me in-world.
  7. I think nearly all, if not all, Blake Sea SIMS have a smal parcel in them for rezzing. For other Linden Water SIMS, usually if they have some sort of structure or island on them, you can find a small parcel at some point on the edge of the structure or island with a rezz zone.
  8. I get this occasionally, but I haven't monitored the SIM version to see if it is just Magnum. I do find that everything clears in a few seconds, if I keep moving.
  9. Grid Status Report - [Closed 12:02 PM PST, 06 February 2013] Our search engine is performing properly again. Please note it will take the search engine some time to fully re-incorporate current event and traffic values.

  11. Thanks Wolf for writing up your experiences and observations, all of which I agree with and have experienced. I would just add that I now find mesh planes (vehicles) to be less good at SIM crossings than traditional planes. Are you finding the same ?
  12. Nope, for the issue you and others are having, the fix was in the 30 January roll-out.
  13. Is it a Magnum SIM ? If so, then it is a new known issue since the last roll out last week. See this - http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/Deploys-for-the-week-of-2013-01-21/td-p/1837633 Oh and it looks like a fix is being rolled out this Wednesday - Second Life RC Magnum: Magnum is getting the interest list improvement project. This projectshould reduce the bandwidth usage of viewers due to object updates, and should improve simulator performance, especially in sims with many connected avatars. This week's update addresses an issue where some users experienced high packet loss, leading to issues such as not seeing avatars or objects inworld. https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_Magnum/13#13.01.28.269574 Scheduled Wednesday 2013-01-30 07:00-11:00 PST
  14. It is a problem others are having too since the last update and seems to be only for Magnum SIM. Here is a link to the discussion. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/Deploys-for-the-week-of-2013-01-21/td-p/1837633 You can check to see if it is a Magnum SIM, in which case it is just a case of waiting until a fix is done. Update - Just picked up that a fix is being rolled out this Wednesday. Here you are - Second Life RC Magnum: Magnum is getting the interest list improvement project. This projectshould reduce the bandwidth usage of viewers due to object updates, and should improve simulator performance, especially in sims with many connected avatars. 15. Hello Yordie Here is a bug that a fix for is being rolled out this week on RC Magnum - Fixed a bug on region crossing that would cause the viewer to cease getting updates from the recently departed region and would cause the region to "disappear" momentarily about 50 seconds after departure (BUG-141) Also for BlueSteel and LeTigre this is being rolled out this week - This is the region crossing improvement project Scheduled 2013-01-09, for RC BlueSteel and RC LeTigre ContainsAdded background serialization of the Agent and their attachments on region crossing. Reduces the burden of region crossing on sim performance. There seems to be a lot of work going on to fix sim crossing problems with vehicles so we will see how things develop this week. The Blake has a lot of RC sims so it's a good place to experience any improvements. I had noticed that sim crossing has been less good over Christmas and the New Year period at times, experiencing the same issues that you have, but it was OK before and I expect it will be OK again soon as LL are back at work. Regards, Mal
  16. Here is a link to a more detailed answer, given by the lovely valerie, if your question is all about accessing mature and adult areas - http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Avatar/where-to-do-it-age-verification/qaq-p/1680041
  17. This happens to me occasionally. I can be in-world but some connection somewhere in SL just hasn't picked up that I am logged-in. One check is to open your profile in-world and if you see the padlock up on the left top corner then you are not being recognised as being in-world ! You could also try logging in to mysecondlife.com when not in-world, then log out then go back in-world. This has sorted me out sometimes, but re-logging in-world also clears it sometimes. The one good thing is that I have never found the issue to be permanent, just occasional.
  18. I had not had this problem for years either, then, suddenly the other day it happened. I relogged and it stopped. The main thing is that it was before any of the recent server or viewer updates. I have not had it since.
  19. Even if it is a full avatar that was bought, you can normally edit your shape and reduce the size of the hands. Did you try that? Of course, if it is a demo, then there isn't any point in doing anything with it.
  20. Really excellent answer from Rolig. Whenever I have DNS server address connection issues, Google always sets me free, so I always use answer number 2.
  21. Recently,on arrival in a new region, I have been getting a pop up window saying I should rebake the region, which I then do with the helpful button that appears at the bottom of the viewer screen. It doesn't actually affect my view of things or my movements and takes like a few seconds to complete. I did see an earlier answer to this referring to Pathfinder, but I didn't find anything in that information that gave any reason for this. It really isn't an issue for me, but as it is a new thing, I was just wondering what it is all about. One other question - If you rebake when entering a sim, would you get the "need to rebake" pop up again in the same sim? Thanks for any info given on this. Mal
  22. Whenever I have tried to buy something in the Marketplace that costs L$0, it never gets delivered. I guess that's why free stuff is often sold for L$1, because that always gets delivered. I haven't tried valerie's suggestion of using other browsers though.
  23. To be sure you have no problems, just before you downgrade, you should follow these simple instructions. This may help you stay clear of problems when you become a non-premium member - Eye of toad, Ear of bat, Leg of frog, Tail of cat. Drop them in, Stir it up, Pour it in a silver cup.
  24. I am not sure if you are referring to actual size or scale. If size, the 2 essential things a merchant should include in any product description for the kind of things you are referring to, are land impact value (number of prims) and size. If they don't include that information then ask them or find a merchant that is more helpful. To then check if the size is OK, before buying, rez a simple prim cube and change it to the size of the item you want to buy and see if it fits. If you are referring to scale, then I agree with you, some creators are hopeless with their perspective. The only way around that is to actually see the items in SL and not just rely on Marketplace pics.
  25. Issues with SL when maintenance is underway or the run up to rolling restarts plus during the restarts, is quite common. Really, if you get issues during these times, don't bother trying ot fix them, just be patient and wait until you get the all clear.
