Aww, thanks so much all! Was really happy with how this one came out. I don't normally go quite as "bold" on my windlight settings, but this one just seemed to fit the mood of the scene well.

Emerald Viewer to be Blocked From Second Life

Are you a passionate Second Life resident who loves to write about your Second Life experience?
I am! I used to write columns regularly for the Metaverse Messenger, have my own SL blog (though I've been a bit lax lately, to be honest), and all that.
So... what's your pay scale? 'cuz while I may be passionate, it would seem kinda foolish to work for free. Especially in this economy. I mean, when Hamlet blogged for ya, I'm sure he got paid.

Embark on a Quest in Linden Realms: Collect Crystals, Earn Linden Dollars and Have a Blast!
A group blog by Secondlife in General
I've had the joy of tinkering with this for some time: it's quite fun! I especially enjoy Shattered Cavern and the Sun Spire. :-)
Big thanks to the team who put it together!

It's all sorts of creepy!

Yay! Glad to see the Bay City Hallowe'en Hay Maze in there! Glad you enjoyed it!

Nice "feed the fish" interaction (although the boripede likes to eat big things. it seems). Really like the underwater tube, too. Fun build!

If anything, I'm impressed in simply seeing you learn how the world works from the basics on up, and -- perhaps -- seeing the world through the eyes of a noob. Thank yu for that.
And, if I may, let me offer you a warm welcome on behalf of Livingtree Island, Second Life's many "Inner Kids," and the Bay City mainland community.

I'll have to give it a try, though what I suspect is a memory leak (I've yet to pin down a real "__ causes ___" for it) has caused me to not use 2.3 or 2.4 (2.2 still works fine for me). As that is nearing end of life, I'm more than a bit worried!
I assume the profiles will remain viewable inworld, in the UI, just using a web-based system? Either way, they sure look better.

Technology Improvements for Q1 Including Raising Group Limit to 42
A group blog by Secondlife in General
FJ, you are still one of the best communicators at the lab. Thank you for this post.
In addition to facebook (ugh), Twitter, and LinkedIn, please consider Plurk and Flickr links. Heck, I'd also love a Snapzilla link, but I'm likely dreaming there!
Now, if you don't mind, I'm off to add a group or two...

Welcome on board, Rod, and best of luck!

Add me to the "miss ya" list. Even when we disagreed, I was glad that there was at least someone there.

Yay! Gotta get a few snowballs ready f'r the fight. Shame there's not more locations. Would love to see a snowball fight around Bay City somewhere. ;-)
-
Likely true - but it's still linked in the above. ;-)

I believe I have deferred render off (if not, please give me a path), but I still get full system lockups on Mac with ATI under 2.3. :-/

Back to Basics Technology Improvements
A group blog by Secondlife in General
That's something I asked for back in, oh, 2008. So not much action on it, though Sue made some changes a month or two ago. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-12078

Horray on the group limit increase. This will be a major help for me - and should save me some frustration. I also look forward to seeing what other changes may be down the pipeline for group functions.

I have to agree with so many others: this is a lot closer to what Viewer 2 should have been at its release. I am sorry that it was pushed through, really, before its time. The tear offs in the sidebar is a huge improvement over 2.0 and 2.1.
I'd still love to see at least the option of a lighter UI for those who really don't do well with light text on dark background.
I'd also love to see greater enhancements and flexibility with groups/friends/profiles/inventory.
Nevertheless, kudos for a big, big step in the right direction. I would *hope* that those who are adamantly opposed to Viewer 2 at least give this a reasonable try, and test it out for a week or so. If you still don't like it, or if there's some clear deal breakers for you -- by all means, file JIRAs and head for the third party viewers. But... try it.

I know I've asked about this in the past, to the then T Linden. No plans for supporting PPC Macs (they are considered antiquated). Then again, T Linden is gone now...
