  1. Thanks so much, Ariel! I guess I was a feral (animal) avatar for so long that I forgot about underwear!
  2. I also just got a petite avatar. A couple of my friends on the Emergence viewer saw me as just bare boobs and bare bottom. My concern is that I might get tossed from a sim from an owner who isn't on the mesh viewer. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
  3. This is my own personal experience with versions of the mesh viewer. Based on what others have said (forgive me for not mentioning their names--I can't remember), I have found that this usually works. Also, I have a laptop, so I "wire up" when I'm downloading any new version and logging onto SL after an update: 1. Install new SL viewer. Restart computer. 2. Log into SL in basic mode. Change mode to advanced and clear cache. Log out. Restart computer. 3. Log into SL in advanced mode. Wait for everything to rez. Open inventory and wait for inventory to load. Do not do anything in SL until inventory loads. After my inventory has loaded, I can usually unplug the wire and use SL. This is just my experience. I hope it helps.
  4. If you played your own content, then yes, it's free. If you play other people's copyrighted works, you'd have to pay. That's why I suggested taking a class to see what they had to say about copyright.
  5. The SL Wiki has many articles about DJing in Second Life. Also, Helping Haven, New Citizens Inc. (NCI), and possibly Caledon Oxbridge will have (free) classes on DJing (Timothy Scarborough teaches the class at Helping Haven). See: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Overview_of_Music_in_Second_Life http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Playing_media http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Disc_Jockey As for copyright--In RL I work with copyright. The first URL I provided has a disclaimer from LL about copyright as follows: Legal Issues: If you choose to stream your own music into SL directly or using a streaming relay host, the content and any copyright/royalty fees and any other possible issues are your responsibility. I can't imagine that one would be able to play copyrighted music in SL and not be required to pay royalty fees, but I'm sure it happens. I would recommend taking some of the classes first to determine if you'd like to DJ. Good luck!
  6. Thanks so much, Charolotte! I had more success this time, with .50, 35, 9, 1000. Thanks so much for the tip! Here are some pics (which certainly look better than when I had first began!). 1st pic, DaVinci; 2nd pic, Pumpkin Town.
  7. I've tried the "tilt shift photography" with the specs Torley recommends in the SL Wiki but it doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions? P.S. These are the specs in the Wiki: CameraAspectRatio = 1.500 CameraFieldOfView = 60.000 CameraFNumber = 2.000 CameraFocalLength = 1000.000
  8. Hi Hippie! My name was actually part of an email address I had. It's an amalgam of my RL name.
  9. I was having the same problem yesterday. All of a sudden I couldn't log into SL. I uninstalled, did a clean reinstall, kept crashing SL and the crash logger. Finally I wired up my laptop, entered SL in "basic mode," and was able to get into SL. I switched to advance, logged out, and logged back in. Once my inventory loaded I logged off again, removed the wire from the modem, and re-logged and was able to get back in. Of course, I haven't tried getting into SL today yet....
  10. I have friends with streaks in their hair and thought, "If only you could change that to purple with a click...."
  11. For ferals or quadropeds: Bakemonoya makes cat avatars, but they are tiny. See them at the marketplace here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/21322 and in SL here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Gorlen%20Bay/27/27/41. Lost Ferals has pretty interesting avatars (cheetahs, lions, leopards) of both the two and four legged variety. Marketplace here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/1372. Other than that, I suggest you look at the SL Marketplace to find what you want, and then visit it in-world. Also, the Rocket City Community has a mall that features lots of different animal avatars, as does Central Av in Northstar. Both exhibit a wide variety of bipeds and quadropeds. P.S. I am not a new resident--I've been in SL for a couple of years. I am new to the forum, however!
