Yes. It is quite annoying. There is one trick you might find useful. If you use flat planes with normals facing towards each other, the solid decomposition will take them into account for fitting the physics mesh to the bounding box, but it will omit them from the actual physics shape. This is the trick I used to get an offset door hinge without having an unwanted physical obstruction. It is described in one of the files with the sample door on the wiki. It still works as of last week.

Thanks for the information Drongle.  I looked for the sample door on the wiki and could not locate it.  Could you please give more information to where this is located.  Ive been wanted to learn this trick for a while and have not found any information until you mentioned it here.  Thanks in advance.

    Yeso

Well, with some more searching I found the information.  I just searched for sample door in wiki search.  Thanks so much.

  3. I posted this in another thread on friday. Just checked and its still there. It has over 60 rotating for sale signs from the same guy. Wow .. what a wonderful view and in the wonder Jiminy snow sim. Hope Blondin can take care of this also and soon.

  4. Thank you Void for the information.  I knew it had to be simple and I was overlooking it. lol

Wow, the OP was right.  The Basic is less than basic.  Its barely more than a picture window into the grid.  You only have a choice of some chosen AVs to select and some chosen destinations to go to.  Other than that its usless.  I cant even buy some free clothes I found.

Wow, no way I would stay if I was a noob and this was all I had to work with.

  5. First thing.  Please use some spaces between paragraphs or thoughts.  Maybe use some bullet items of the things you think are wrong.  Wow, I cant believe I read it all before my eyes crossed. lol

Second, how do you get into basic mode or enable it.  I would like to try it myself.

Third, of what you said and the things Ive heard, LL has really missed the mark on making a basic viewer that would work for new people.

He did warn you and whereas I sympathise with your frustrations, you probably should have let it go.

I do agree this would be a useful feature to implement.

I agree with Ciaran on this.  You should just let it go.  You are only going to make it worse by pointing fingers here in the public forums this way.  I use a third party viewer and do use this feature and agree it would be nice on the main viewer, but LL has limited resources and can only work on the issues that they determine is more important.  We as users can only make suggestions, but LL must determine what features and fixes are the most important to them.

Being a good neighbour means, among other things, that you keep your prims within your parces. Lots of people use the airspace, all 4096 m of it, for different things, and do not expect to bump into someone else's junk when they fly around or build on their own property.

I agree with this 100%.  Being a good neighbor is respecting the rights and boundaries of your neighbors property and only using the space that you are paying for.  There reason I bought a larger lot is so I could have larger items and I would not extend stuff into my neighbors property, no matter the height it was built.  Also, why do you think LL is working on changing this so we can remove stuff that so called good neighbors that decide what they pay for is not big enough and encroach on others.

hmmmm... I suppose anything is possible.  Still, no one has pointed to anything said by the lindens tying 64 meters to encroachment changes (they need add functions for new encroachemnt control options, not change them to support 64 meters)  And they are supporting 64 meter prims in the mesh beta.

So - If someone has more than a rumor and can point to where a Linden says 64 meter prims are held up until the encroachment  options project goes live - point away.

I agree with you that LL should turn on 64m prims as soon as possible.  There would be no difference that what we have today with all the mega prims that are use on the grid.

As far as I remember, he just said that the deadline for the falcon avatar contest would be around May. I didn't see him say Mesh would hit the main grid in May.

Well, he also said the following quoted from the meeting:

[2011/03/28 11:23] Falcon Linden: The prize will be a yet-to-be-determined number of Agni L$ (somewhere between 10k and 80k, probably, have to ask around for approval) plus my wearing it on agni for at least 3 months

He said he would wear the falcon avatar in "agni" for 3 months.  So, mesh will have to be enabled for him to wear the mesh avator.  So, it seems that the mesh date may be close to the contest date.

  10. You have 3 sims that dont seem to belong to any named region.  These are Lane, Pippen and Takes.  It looks like you may have them part of the Great Lakes.  These should be in the new Sea of Fables.  They use to be part of the Lost Lakes.

I don't agree with giving out-sim neighbours a bite at the land before same-sim.  People in the same sim may be struggling for prims and have a greater claim over it, in my opinion.  I also think with so many levels to the process, 7 days is far too long per level and makes the process cumbersome.  If such a process were to be implemented, the need for longer times per level could be mitigated by making each level inclusive of previous levels (i.e. at level 4, anyone from levels 1,2, and 3 would still be eligible).  I also think that this should apply for all parcels up to and including 1024 sq.m., with larger parcels going to the traditional auction process.  Step 10, the open sale to same-sim owners should also be L$1/sq.m., there's no reason that they should be hit with inflated pricing.  The final step should be a reverse auction, starting at L$10 and dropping L$1 every 48 hours, until it bottoms out at L$1, introducing a system where those who feel it's important to them can jump in early, but otherwise it steadily drops to minimum and avoids taking excessive L$ out of the economy (remember all L$ paid here is lost from the economy, unlike normal resident to resident land sales).

I agree with you Pauline.  I guess I misread the first steps thinking they were all same sim owners.  I agree that the parcels should be offered to the same sim owners first.  First to the owners that the parcel connects with, then to other same sim owners.  If none of the same sim owners want the land, then and only then put it up for sale to everyone else.

  12. I like the idea.  The current idea of putting it for sale to everyone after 3 days

abandoned parcels, set land for sale back to original owner for three days. Good idea because it saves a lot of administrative hassle.

The current system of auctioning abandoned 512m2+ parcels is perfect. Don't change this.

For abandoned parcels smaller than 512m2, these should be offered to neighboring parcel owners (after the expiry of the 3-day grace period). This can be automated as follows (based on Wildcat's earlier post) in the following order for a period of
    7-days
    per candidate:

    1. 4-sides neighbor at L$1 per m2
    2. 3-sides neighbor at L$1 per m2
    3. 2-sides neighbor, older parcel date at L$1 per m2
    4. 2-sides neighbor, younger parcel date at L$1 per m2
    5. 1-side same-sim neighbor, oldest parcel date at L$1 per m2
    6. 1-side same-sim neighbor, second oldest parcel date at L$1 per m2
    7. 1-side same-sim neighbor, third oldest parcel date at L$1 per m2
    8. 1-side same-sim neighbor, youngest parcel date at L$1 per m2
    9. 1-side out-sim neighbor at L$1 per m2
    10. open market to same-sim landowners at L$5 per m2 (remember, the max size would be 496m2)
    11. open market to SL at L$10 per m2

needs to be changed.  I hope LL is listening to this thread.

I would think that steps 10 and 11 could be offered at $L1/sqm.  If none of the owners in the sim want the land during the first 9 steps, then let it go to anyone that wants it.

  13. I had heard about SL a few times before in magazines and news reports.  It finally got my interest and decided to give it a try.  I was so happy I was able to get the name that was my nickname during my college years.  I was know as the Yeso Kid lol.

My first impression of SL was not very good.  I looked around a while and logged off and didnt come back for serveral months.  Then I came back again and I was hooked when I realized I could build stuff.
