[A Farewell From Jack]

You will be missed Jack.  Good luck with your future endeavors.  You have done some great things during your time with LL.  Cleaning up the ad farms was top on my list.  You had to make some tough changes and some were not popular, but you were always professional.  And welcome Jack.

[Mesh Import Open Beta Starts Today]

I just want to thank LL for introducting mesh.   Ive been to the beta grid the last 2 days and Ive seen some awesome builds.  Mesh is going to make a huge difference to SL.  Thanks Jack and the rest of the LL team (and to all the Lindens no longer at LL) for this awesome feature.  These are the features that SL needs to stay competitive.

Now to finally learn Blender and help contribute using this awesome feature.

[Changes to Display Names Based on Your Feedback]

I want to give my opinion about this so called new feature and hope that LL is STILL listening to their PAYING customers. Here are some suggestions that I hope that LL would do before they continue with this feature.

1. Usernames - Please leave the Usernames the same. If these are our names that people can determine who we really are and the names the we will use to do real business inside SL, please do not change them. Leave my name as Yeso Kidd that I chose and wanted when I joined SL. I don't want my main name to be yeso.kidd. This is not what I selected when I joined and you are destroying the legacy of SL with this change. Leave our main names (usernames) the same.

2. New account names - Please do not make any changes to the way people sign up for SL. People need a real, pronouncable, readable name in SL so people can see who they really are and to which to do business with. hahahaha123 is not a real name. Cant you continue the current way people join with a list of last names and adding the first name they want. Then everyone in SL will still have a real (firstname lastname) to use. I thought the idea of Display Names is to allow people to have a different name. So what is the advantage of destroying a legacy of our real names (username) in SL and allowing unusable names for future people that sign up.

3. Display Names - If this is still what you think will bring a flood of new people to SL, then at least make it a test run. Turn this feature on with no other changes and see how it works. See how many people use it and want it. Then you can find out for sure if the number of griefers go up and if it will cause others issues that a lot of your customers have voiced concern over. If after a test period of 4-6 months you find the idea is not used and you do not get the flood of new people, then you can easily turn it back off and then maybe implement a name change function that people were really asking for. One that allows one to maybe pay a one time fee and change the real name (username) to something they want.

I for one will not use this feature and still see no use for it, but I am willing to accept it if our real names are not changed from what we signed up with.

Please LL, I hope you are listening. Please DO NOT destroy our real names in SL. Its the ONLY thing we have in SL that is not changable.
