  1. Sounds like a lot of work for not so much pay out for the builder involved. It's not just a matter of waving a wand and drawing walls to get a building made in SL. It might just be easier to make a scaled down model in a free-to-use architectural program, or even Sims 3, if you had that. Plus this way you could always come back to it for more pictures if needed later on.
  2. You might have a better time finding work if you get some decent pictures taken of your current avi. Nobody who's gonna hire you is interested in the past styles you've had (nor the fact that you have a ninja outfit?) since they are going to be looking for someone sexy now. However, good luck in your endeavor.
  3. I make gifs all the time for tumblr, but I'm not sure the way I make my gifs will work with sl? Does SL take just straight up .gif files and animate them by itself or will I need to upload the individual frames and then use a script to animate them? I've never tried uploading a gif straight into sl before so I don't know. However, if the case is the individual frames, that won't be an issue, just more costly in the long run. But yeah anyway, I can make gifs for you if you want.
  4. I'm not too sure if you'd find something exactly to your liking just out on the MP, but I'd be willing to go ahead and try to get that built for you. It'd be a partial mesh build, if that is okay? If you want to send me a sketch of a floorplan or something inworld I could get it made for you in a couple of days. c: It'd also probably be only maybe 150 prim or lower. Depends on the complexity of the inside.
  5. I can't get in world right now, but the place I rent from - I believe - offers tiny plots of land for under $300L. I'll have to check to make sure first!
  6. I'd also like to see some mesh clothing for young girls that do not have the addition of breasts or at the very most an A cup sizing. It's pretty much impossible to fit young ladies into cute new mesh blouses due to the giant 'breast slots' molded into the top.
  7. When you say 3D model, do you mean make yourself a mesh avi then importing it/wearing it? Or do you mean editing your shape in-game?
  8. Considering my inventory is currently pushing 50k items...? A while.
  9. You can find a plethora of templates here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Clothing_Tutorials Just pick which one might suit your needs better. Chip Midnight's are a good starting point. Also, when making a tattoo, make sure if you put it over a seam that you line it up correctly or you'll be ending up with something mashed together that looks like the tattoo artist fell asleep!
  10. I've seen their homes, yes. But the only one that isn't too large or just a single room (one of the cottages), is still too sterile looking with the white woods. It has one long room, barely sectioned off at all, and then a small bedroom area up top. Beautiful in its own way, but now what I'm looking for. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
  11. Either I'm too picky (the most likely case) or I'm blind as a bat. I used to know all the places to get houses I liked (and still love) but I have a limited number of prims available to me currently and I've been slowly cutting back on my decor impact and now I need to cut back on the house impact. I've been looking at a lot of places for suitable mesh housing, but all I've been able to find are..things not much within my range of tastes. They are simply too modern and sterile looking - cold - or they are medieval cottages or family homes. The few places that I've found that sell things I like either still haven't gotten to mesh yet, or the ones who do mesh, make everything too big and imposing. My avis are all fairly small at a max of 2.2m for the tallest. So walking around houses with a living room going 30x15 and walls up to 7m is just...rediculous. The places I used to shop at had walls that ranged from 3.5-5m, and none of their rooms were bigger than 8x8m. I'm looking for places in that size range, with a total footprint of no more than 40x40. Something with lots of natural or dark stained woods, brick accents and plaster walls, earthy tones. Maybe with some blues and greys and greens and dark reds. Something that looks lived in that I can easily clutter. Multiple stories would be a plus but not needed as long as it has several rooms or sectioned off areas. If you want an example, Apple Fall’s room for Cinema is exactly what I love in a build, but sadly, it's only that one room. TL;DR I've been trying to find a mesh house that isn't gigantic, has a few rooms or areas sectioned off, and has a wood/brick/plaster/neutral/dark color theme. So far I haven't had any luck. If anyone could point me in the right direction, or even towards a designer who makes things I like (if they are low prim enough, they don't need to be mesh), I'd be forever grateful.
  12. I make all my own shapes and then some. Drop the pic on me inworld and I'll see about getting it made for you. I'll need the name of the skin you're wearing though! I always edit shapes based on a skin. I can get it looking like the basic idea of your photo, but it won't look right without the skin you're wanting to wear being used as a base.
  13. Whoa, not to um, well. Not to be rude or anything, and no ill effects towards the creator of those avis, but the female faces are SUPER masculine. The breasts do not behave like one would consider 'realistic' breasts, though perhaps in the world of plastic everything they are passable. In any case, the are far too high up on her chest. Breasts hang from the chest muscles, they don't just...sit quietly up there. Gravity is a thing that exists. The arms are, again, like most poorly contracted shapes I see, too short. The 'plus size' model is still thin, only with wide hips? How is this plus size? It's curvy, at most. Again with the large breasts. The face is elongated like Indian or Hispanic women's faces, but the features are typical of Caucasians with more African/Middle Eastern lips. The eyebrows are painfully arched giving the woman both a surprised and angry face with the pull at the front. This woman already has some jowls starting, even though she appears to be in her mid 20's. The eyes are shaped irregularly and the eyelashes have some clipping issues (though this could be corrected). Hands are too small. With the thickness of her thighs, they should be touching but they aren't, so she has this constant look of standing bowlegged or perhaps airing out her crotch? - Anyway, based on the reviews that are there, it's super hard to find any clothing that will accurately fit this avatar, so you are very limited with no way to apply alpha layers. I think you should use the $20 and apply that towards something that you can get some use from. I personally would not dump my money on this avatar.
  14. If you don't wanna purchase a shape I'd be more than happy to make one for you for free. Fully mod, of course, so you can do whatever you like to it afterwards. c: Send me an IM or an NC in world and I'll get right on it!
  15. Furry shapes are super easy to make considering you don't have to spend any time fiddling with the face since it'll be hidden. If you want, I can make some femboy shapes for your friend. Just lemme know the general height and build and I'll drop them on you to give to him.
  16. I'm not sure what causes it, but I've started getting white or black textures in various places, happening seemingly at random. I just relog to get rid of it and everything is okay again.
  17. Hey, Sacha! C: I agree, it can be daunting to just jump right into the fashion scene when you have little direction. Checking the blogs is a great idea, and I tend to creep them far too much. http://feeds.sl/style/ That is probably the best place to start. They have posts from many designers and bloggers and along the side are links to just about everywhere. Good luck!
  18. I have never not cried over my fav tv shows. Whoops.
  19. Ah, I didn't know beta testing started in '02, that was on honest mistake. Anyway, I wasn't being hateful, I was merely letting Trixi884 know that most places of employment will typically not hire anyone under 30 days of age. I was saying to get use to SL as it is now - as it's changed a LOT in the mere five years I've been around, so it's gonna take some getting used to again after such a big gap.
  20. Then do it yourself? Save the L$30 and just upload two snapshots.
  21. SL hasn't been around for 10 years. .___.; And anyway, even if you've been here before, most places will not hire a brand new avatar due to them wanting reliable people (ones that won't run off after a week) and people who know what they are doing. I suggest getting to relearn SL and having a bit of fun exploring/shopping/whatever and trying to get a job again after you're at least 30 days old.
  22. Good luck finding someone who will work for about 10¢ an hour.
  23. I like designing buildings. c: If you like, I'm willing to work for free. I should be online in world later tonight.
  24. I remember when I was first starting out at the tail end of 2007, I was dropped in a noob island and a pop up on the corner said YOU CAN WALK WITH THE WSAD KEYS and I remember thinking "Oh, so like Oblivion / every other fp rpg". Then the subsequent pop ups started to piss me off after I realized the hotkeys for various tools were pretty obvious (F for fly, pg-up/pg-dn, scrolling in to go to fp pov, hitting 'enter' to start talking, etc). I ignored the instructions and fiddled around on my own, noticing pretty quickly the edit shape screen was very much like Sims (though a bit awkward), and dressing was just a matter of double clicking or right click wear. I didn't spend much more than 15 mins on that first island because I felt like it was talking down to me. I'd probably be one of those noobs nowadays who doesn't ask questions or say much of anything when prompted simply because I just GOT it pretty fast and felt like anything else I could just click around till I figured it out. HOWEVER, that being said, I know not everyone comes into SL knowing much of anything, and I'd really love to see an updated version of the noob island or have something like what Jo said. I know of a few sites that have orientations via flash that are pretty helpful to new users before they even enter the main site or go in world, and I'd love to see something like that (or hell, even a simple 'you must watch this video first' deal). Also I very much agree that new users should have an opportunity to customize their avatar how they want it before even setting foot in world. I HATED my first avi and had to work so hard to find anything that would make me feel better about it, but it was so difficult at the time to change anything so I had to resort to changing to a female avi just because they had a far greater amount of free items and customization options more readily available. That was certainly a low point of my SL career.
  25. Do you mean the floating island is set to phantom? That's the only thing I'm getting from your post. Anything set to phantom can be walked through, and if you're trying to build on/in it, you'll just fall right out. It might not be pretty when you are looking at transparent mode, but if you make some walls/floors around the area's you'd like to live and set them to transparent, you won't see them and be able to walk on the floating island. Sorta. If I'm way off, I apologize, but I'm not sure what else you mean.
