  1. The system requirements for running the full SL client are here: http://secondlife.com/support/system-requirements/ However, you can run SLGO on certain tablets using OnLive: https://slgo.onlive.com/ It says Tablets with Android 3.2 or later and Smartphones with Android 4.0 or later can be used. SL Go is basically a cloud server that runs the full SL client, while it streams the graphics to your tablet.
  2. Clicking the Return button on that page, will return to inventory all objects you own on that parcel. See: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Managing-your-parcel/ta-p/700113 Some objects are hard to select. Try zooming the camera in close. Alt-click can help zomming in. You can also try selecting it with the Build tool open, and the arrow icon selected, by drawing a box around it. If you can select the object, you should be able to delete it. Grass is particularly hard to select.
  3. Is the land Mature "M" or Adult "A" rated? You can only teleport to those areas if you are old enough (in real life) and also you have selected to allow M and A rated content in your Second Life viewer Preferences.
  4. Did you accidentally click the Recent tab in Inventory? If you do that you only see new inventory. Everything is still there, just on the other inventory tab.
  5. The owner of a land area in Second Life (parcel or region or estate) can ban anyone for any reason. It is their land. All you can do is go somewhere else.
  6. What you want is to create an Alt Account. See this web page for Linden Lab's policy on creating alts: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Alt_account_policies Unfortunately, alts do not share the same inventory, even if both accounts are owned by the same person. It is possible to transfer inventory, but only if the items you want to transfer are "transfer enabled". Creators of clothing etc set permissions on each of their products. "Copy / no transfer" is very common. Secondly, it is no longer possible to create new accounts with the "firstname space lastname" user name format. All new accounts must be single user name accounts. You can have any display name you want, on any account.
  7. It has been a while since I joined Second Life, but I remember you have to give your real name and birth date when you apply for an account. The person whose real name and birth date is on the account is the true owner of the account, and should be the only one using that account.
  8. This appears to be a store that specializes in mesh avatars. The picture you posted does not look like you are wearing a mesh avatar, it looks like the skin on a classic avatar (which should be hidden when wearing a mesh body and is often invisible due to an alpha). To see mesh (and alphas) properly the person viewing the mesh needs an up-to-date viewer, and a reasonably good internet connection and video card. Also, download glitches when you teleport into a region are common. People wearing any kind of mesh may not look right. Usually this is temporary, and the mesh eventually resolves. Sometimes it does not if the region is too busy. That is one reason to wear old style "modesty" underwear (system clothes) even under a full mesh body. Mesh and alphas don't always show up for everyone. Try teleporting to another region and ask some more people what you look like.
  9. perchè non accedo ad alcune land?mi dice che le mie preferenze non consentono elementi sconoschiuti
  10. This is complicated. There are several different types of avatars. Most of the free starter avatars are mesh, and don't work with most clothes. However there should be an avatar chooser button on the main screen, that lets you switch between starter avatars, and it includes some "classic" avatars (non-mesh ones). The avatar chooser is the easy way to switch starter avatars.
  11. The built-in Microsoft Windows firewall is not usually a problem, it asks and you authorize Second Life. Firewall problems are more likely to come from hardware modems or routers. See: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Using-Second-Life-with-a-firewall/ta-p/1304539 Be aware that music requires additional port ranges open beyond what that web page describes. The ports you need to keep open depends not on Second Life, but on the DJ who is streaming the music from a web address outside Second Life. While on the land with music, the music URL found in the 'World'->'About Parcel'->'Sound' tab. For example: http://gold.slserver.com:8030 indicates port 8030 must be open.
  12. You must have a premium account to directly own mainland, but you do not need a premium account to rent from a landlord. There are some landlords who run themed communities on the mainland, although most landlords work off private islands. The service, quality etc of landlords vary. Some are better than others. Generally, don't pay more than a week or two in advance if you are renting. Generally you get more freedom to build whatever you want if you directly own mainland in most regions. Anything that conforms to the Linden Terms of Service and the region's Maturity Rating is usually allowed. Your neighbors can also build just about anything in most regions. There are a few mainland regions that do have some restrictions. If you rent from a landlord you usually get a professionally designed community with a standardized theme. This means all the houses etc match the theme.
  13. This sounds like a "Bake Fail". Generally, it is caused by one bad attachment or body part. Identifying and replacing the bad part with a different part can fix it (right click and Wear the replacement part from an inventory folder). The problem is identifying the bad part. Oddly, once you fix the baking problem, you can usually re-wear the bad part and it will then be fine. See here for more suggestions: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_bake_fail
  14. Rezing in Second Life: All rezed objects have a Land Impact number, formerly called "prims". Every piece of land has a limit to how much it can hold. Generally, the larger the land the more it can hold. Worn attachments count differently from objects rezed on the ground (the limit is higher for worn objects). Additionally, you need to have permission to rez objects on any piece of land. Generally, the owner, who is paying for that land, decides who is allowed to rez on his or her land. You do not need permission to wear an object directly from your inventory. You can do that anywhere. If you own the land, by default you can rez objects on it up to its maximum capacity, and can keep them rezed as long as you keep up your payments for that land. Sandbox is a special term. It means a land that is open to the public, where anyone can rez objects up to the limit of the land's capacity. However, there is usually a time limit - your rezed object will be sent back to your inventory after a few hours. Many Linden owned public sandboxes exist. Some are open to every avatar, others are only open to avatars with premium accounts. Use the search function to find the locations of public sandboxes. 15. Her password probably uses non-American letters or codes. UTF-8 is used to encode Unicode for international languages. Also long passwords with symbols that are not letters or numbers have been reported to cause problems when logging into the marketplace. Passwords should be at least 10 characters long, but not more than 16, and should contain both upper and lower case letters and numbers.
  16. There were all kinds of inventory malfunctions this afternoon. LL was working on the inventory servers. It should be better now that the maintenance is finished. See http://status.secondlifegrid.net/
  17. Try to keep your texture sizes as small as possible while still looking good, and try not to use too many different textures.
  18. You can probably find errors in your viewer's log file. It is just a big text file. Errors will show what is missing or what did not work. It is here on Windows 7 for Firestorm: C:\Users\[The username you use to log into your computer, not your avatar name]\AppData\Roaming\Firestorm\Logs The AppData folder is hidden by Windows, but you can un-hide it: Windows start button --> Control Panel --> Folder Options --> View tab --> Show hidden files. It looks like these domains are important: lindenlab.com secondlife.com amazonaws.com (Amazon cloud computing services) vivox.com (voice)
  19. Crossing a narrow sim corner on a diagonal is always much harder than crossing a sim border right in the middle. When you cross a sim corner diagonally, the server has to perform two different region hand-offs in rapid fire succession. That can easily fail. How heavily loaded the sim is with other avatars and scripted things also matters. Also, how script heavy is your avatar? Have you measured recently? There are lots of free script meters. Putting your avatar on a script diet will help with both sim crossing and teleporting.
  20. I have never heard of this affecting sitting, but I know of cases where scripts are turned off on a parcel by the owner. Some HUDs just never work right if script is turned off by the parcel owner (unless you are the owner). Most AOs still work even if scripts are turned off, provided the AO was attached and running before you entered the no-script parcel. Is the group owned land set up so only group members can run scripts? Do you have the group that owns this land currently set as your active group (so the group name shows over your head)?
  21. Lin is short for Linden Dollars, the money used in Second Life. 3rd party refers to 'Authorized Linden Dollar resellers'. See this page for a list: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Linden_Dollar_%28L$%29_Authorized_Reseller_Program From looking at the images you linked, I think maybe you put a space in your avatar name when you tried to buy Lindens. You are GmailTest not Gmail Test. Only avatars born before late 2010 or early 2011 can have a space with a last name as their user login name. New style user names are a single word. It is also possible you may need to add the Resident last name. Try GmailTest.Resident or even GmailTest Resident It is also possible that it is simply too soon. You just created the avatar GmailTest today, the system may not recoginse it so soon. Have you even logged that avatar into Second Life? The account is not really fully functional until after you log into Second Life.
  22. The camera control floater (actived by menu or button) allows you to see yourself from front or back. You can also Alt - Left Click on anything (including your avatar) and then swing the camera around while holding the mouse button down.
  23. Your base shape can only change if you replace it by wearing a new shape, or go into the Appearance editor and change it manually by adjusting the sliders (assuming it allows you to modify it - that is you have "Mod rights" on it). However your appearance can change radically by an animation. This includes various kinds of stretching etc., not just movement of arms and legs. To stop this, detach and take back into inventory anything that is playing an animation on you (usually either something you are wearing, or a HUD, or something you have rezed in-world). Then you may need to log off and log back on again to get rid of the effect of the animation. Animations can be put into almost anything, but have to be scripted and designed to override the default animations to work.
  24. The Linden Homes are restricted: Nothing commercial allowed, and no skyboxes. If you do not get a Linden Home, you can use your 512 tier allowance for any 512 parcel on the mainland. Then you won't have to pay any extra tier, just the normal premium member fee. If you buy (not rent) a parcel on the mainland you are mainly limited by the TOS agreement everyone agrees to be allowed into Second Life, and the Maturity Rating of the region. There may be a covenent on the land in a few places, but most of the mainland has no covenent. So for most parts of the mainland, commercial use is OK. But you have to stay within the Maturity Rating of the region. This means no nudity and no adult activity at all on any G rated region. See: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Maturity-ratings/ta-p/700119 Also: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Mainland_policies http://lindenlab.com/tos
  25. Some Linden road tunnels exist on the mainland. A long one is here: Linden route 9, at Seoraksan 56, 45, 42 go north. Also see: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Second_Life_Road_Network_Directory http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Parks_and_Recreation_Directory
