If you bought mainland for a premium account, your tier will go up to cover the size of the virtual land you bought. Your monthly tier fee is always based on the largest amount of land you held during the past month, even if you only held it for one second. There is no refund. If you get rid of some of the land, you can reduce your tier fees next month. There have been great changes in how the viewer works over the last year. If you are using an old viewer, completely delete it (this is called a "Clean Install") and then download and install an up to date viewer. You can transfer any money from one account to another. You can transfer any items that have the "Transfer" permission set by the creator. If an item is set "No Transfer" then you can not transfer it, even if you actually control both accounts.

Here are some bilder's issues. This assumes you own the water parcel and have full building rights: You can't rez anything by dragging it from your inventory onto the surface of the water. You have two options to rez things: Swim down to the sea floor and drag things from your inventory onto the sea floor. After it rezes, use building/edit controls to move the object up to the surface. Create a prim building platform (non-phantom and non-physical) at the hight you want, then drag things from your inventory onto the building platform to rez them. You can also walk on this platform. When you are finished building, you can delete the platform. Some HUDs and some 3rd party viewers can create such a platform at any height up to 4096 m. Just fly up as high as you want and click the Rez Platform button. Watch points: Physical objects will fall down. Non-physical objects will hover at a fixed hight. You can't walk on phantom objects (you will fall through). You can walk on non-phantom objects.

It depends. Linden homes (the free Linden house premium accounts can request) are starter homes. They are fixed in size and can not be expanded. You can abandon a Linden home and use the free 512m2 of tier allowance given to premium accounts to support other mainland. Note that if you buy or hold more than 512m2 of mainland, you will have to pay additional monthly tier fees. Talking about regular mainland (not Linden homes), you can buy any size that you can afford. Keep in mind both the purchase price, and the monthly tier fee if the land is larger than 512m2. Regular mainland parcels share prim allowance if they are in the same sim (a named region of 256m x 256m) and if they are owned by the same person or group. This means the parcels don't need to be all together in one piece as long as they are somewhere in the same sim (region). You can leave one parcel empty, and use all the prim allowances on the other parcel (if they are both in the same region).

If you have a premium account, there is no monthly payment for 512 m2 or less of mainland. Each premium account includes 512 m2 of tier free every month (assuming you are not already using your free tier to pay for a Linden home). If you want more than 512 m2 of mainland, you must either pay every month for the additional tier you need, or get several premium accounts and contibute their tier to a group you own and control. The group then owns the land. Group ownership of land is complicated, but gives you a 10% bonus of extra free tier. Yes you are right that premium accounts on the annual plan are the lowest cost way to get tier. But that means you have to pay $72 all at once. No, I do not believe there is a built in video recorder, but this can be done with different 3rd party software. There are many reasons a payment can fail. The most common is using a card type that Linden Lab does not accept. Apple no longer supports Quick Time on Windows computers. It is best to remove Quick Time from all Windows computers because of security concerns. The current version of the Second Life viewer (both the official viewer and up-to-date 3rd party viewers) still support Flash, but you have to download the PPAPI version of the Flash plug-in (the plug-in made for "Chromium"). Flash is still being supported and updated by Adobe. Some old style in-world TVs will no longer work without Quick Time, but new style TVs work fine with most videos. Flash videos will work if you have the up-to-date Flash PPAPI plug-in installed. HTML5 videos using Ogg or webm will also work. These options will play many, but not all, videos. Specifically, MP4 videos won't play as far as I can tell.

Flying is disabled in some regions and by some land owners. Find a location that allows flying. World menu, Parcel Details, Options tab (the About Land window, which you can also get by right clicking on the land) will show what is allowed and what is not.

When you wear a mesh body or mesh clothing, you usually wear an alpha to hide the classic avatar body and/or any system clothes. It sounds like you took off the mesh but are still wearing the alpha. Look in your inventory under "Current Outfit" or else right click on your avatar and go to Appearance - Edit Outfit. Look for any alphas and identify if you need to wear them or not. If not detach them. I just found out that some mesh bodies come with automatic alpha. The HUD does not always work correctly when you take off clothing (it sometimes does not remove the alpha). Try turning off Hardware Skinning. This may be the old bug that affects certain ATI/AMD video drivers when viewing some types of mesh. If it is that bug, turning off Hardware Skinning will fix it, but may reduce your frame rate. Preferences -> Graphics -> General subtab -> disable Hardware Skinning

In Second Life, 'Sitting' means more than just playing a sitting animation. If they are really sitting, then they are attached to the thing they are sitting on and so can not be moved (by hits or bumps).

For most people, the largest cost will be the monthly Tier payment, not the initial purchase price of mainland. Assuming that you abandon your Linden home while standing in it, using the World - Parcel Details menu in the viewer, then the first 512 of land will have no monthly Tier fee. Possibly you have filters turned on (so you can't see things that are filtered out) or your viewer just has a bad connection to Second Life and has not been able to download all items? Linden homes are mainland, and count as 512m of land held just like any other mainland. However, each Premium account comes with 512m of free tier each month. You don't pay directly for this, it is included with the premium membership. You may use the 512m of free tier for a Linden house, or if you don't have a Linden house, you can hold 512m more than you would think you could. So if you are paying for the 1024m tier level, but you do NOT have a linden house, you can actually hold 1536m on the mainland.

1. Use an up-to-date production version of an approved viewer, not one of the experimental 'beta' viewers. 2. Perform a completely clean install. This means removing all traces of your current viewer, then reboot the computer, then install a fresh download of the viewer. This process is not fully automatic, you need to delete some folders manually. Stand on the land. Then either right click on the ground and select About Land, or use the World menu, Parcel details. Once the About Land screen is open, click the Abandon Land button. Do this on each parcel you own on the mainland. (This does not apply to rented land - where you pay another avatar for use of land). Additionally: If you are contributing Tier to a group that owns land, you must withdraw the contribution.

Try disabling "Hardware Skinning" in the Graphics section of viewer Preferences, but watch for a loss of frame rate when you do that. Previously, this problem was caused by specific video driver versions running on ATI video cards. Donate has a specific meaning in Second Life. It means you are paying for tier, but you give the tier to a group so the group can hold mainland. You still have to pay for the tier you donate to the group. I think what you actually mean is Abandon Land. Abandon Land is a button found in your viewer. You can click it to get rid of a Linden home (512 m2) that you don't want. This is done by standing on the land and using World - Parcel Details - About Land in your viewer (menus vary depending on which viewer you are using). Once you abandon a Linden home, it releases 512 m2 of tier which you can then use (partly or in whole) to offset tier for other mainland that you own. Note that tier and premium accounts only mean anything if you own land on the mainland. If you rent from a private island estate, you pay a weekly fee to the estate owner. Private estates don't care if you have a premium account or not.

You can't move a parcel, but you can cut a larger parcel you own into several smaller ones. If this abandoned land is on the Mainland you can submit a support ticket to Linden Lab asking them to set the abandoned land for sale. If you can't afford to buy the whole parcel, ask Linden Lab to split it up into smaller parcels before they put it up for sale. Linden Lab may or may not be willing to do this for you. So long as a valid avatar account owns the land, it is not abandoned. You can get info about the land by right clicking on it and selecting About Land. On private islands, talk to the land lord or group that owns the estate.

Is the object still rezed in world? Remove it (take it back to inventory, or delete it). I assume that you own the object. If a rezed object has permission to animate your avatar, it will be able to do so as long as you are in the same region with it. This is exactly how dance balls work, but they are scripted to stop animating you when you want.
