  1. Are you sure that they aren't just being VERY slow? LL has been having serious issues with lag and with servers going unexpectedly off line on some sims for the past few days. I noticed last night that it was taking much longer than usual to upload a couple of textures. Try just waiting and staring at the screen for a minute or two to see if it ever comes up. If not, try going to another sim and trying it. Pick a nice quiet one like Smith or Pooley that never has lag.
  2. Oh, darn. Yes, it sounds as if you have run into https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-6608? There's really no easy cure, I'm afraid. As long as you are wearing that tag, you won't be able to log in, and you can't remove the tag without logging in first. Try this .... Log in with your alt and find the owner of the group. Explain the problem and explain that other group members will also have the same problem if he doesn't change the tag. Then, ask him to eject your main av from the group. When you log in, you can rejoin the group, but you won't have the nasty tag. If you are the group's owner, then pray that you were wise enough to make your alt a co-owner AND that she was wise enough to not wear the tag. Unfortunately, she will not be able to eject you from the group (NOBODY can eject a group owner), but she can shut down the entire group by ejecting everyone else, changing the group to "join by invitation only," and then leaving the group herself. If you are the sole remaining member, LL will erase the group within 48 hours for insuficient enrollment. You will not be able to use that group name again. ETA: If even that oesn't work, your only hope is to either file a support ticket or (better) talk with Live Chat about getting you loose.
  3. That's a really broad question, so it's hard to answer without knowing which factors you are interested in. Perhaps the best thing I can do is to point you to a couple of resource pages and let you wander .... http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Category:Help/Land http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Category:Land I know that's kind of a broad brush non-answer, but you will find what you were looking for in all of that stuff, plus a lot of very usefull information that you ought to be aware of anyway..
  4. We have no way of knowing how experienced anyone who posts a question here may be, so the best we can do is start with a basic answer, adding a little advice that may help people avoid similar problems in the future. Nobody blamed you. I am pleased that you are evidently more aware than many people. If you cannot resolve a delivery problem with some merchants, the next step is to file a support ticket with LL. Go to https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ and be sure to select Marketplace from the dropdown menu. If you are a Premium member, you may get faster service with Live Chat.
  5. Phoenix is a V1 codebase viewer. So is Imprudence. Also LL's own 1.23 viewer. If you are having problems with more than the win_crash_logger.exe program that was the focus of your first message and the JIRA that I referred you to, perhaps the problem is in the llcommon.dll file on your computer. That's a Microsoft problem, not a SL issue. I can find suggestions on the web like http://dll-files.org/8165/what-is-dll-llcommon.html for dealing with it, but I have no idea how effective they may be, or whether they are even relevant to your problem. You might want to try exploring those yourself.
  6. You don't set the length with LoopRez. All that program does is arrange the prims you have already created into a skirt shape. If you want to change the length, width, shape, texture, or color of a prim that your skirt is made of, use your normal SL editing tools to modify it. If you have already used LoopRez to make your skirt but have not yet given the command to finish the skirt (I think it's /1 done, if I remember correctly), then changing one prim will change all of them. Like others, I once used LoopRez for making simple skirts when I was just learning, but I found it way too limiting. You get much less mechanical-looking skirts if you take the time to make and assemble the prims by hand.
  7. If using Phoenix, go to Preferences → Phoenix → Misc and ensure that “Block sitting on objects via left-click” is not checked.
  8. I assume that your brother has payment information on file with LL, so that his bills are automatically covered by a PayPal or credit card account. If that's the case, all you have to do is be sure that his credit card or PayPal have money in them.
  9. Your sim's problem may be related to this current issue .... Ongoing Issue with Offline RegionsPosted by Status Desk on November 12th, 2011 at 10:29 am PST [postED 10:28AM PST, 12 November 2011] We are aware of a problem that causes regions to go offline more frequently than normal. Our developers were alerted to the issue over the weekend and continue to work around the clock towards a solution. We understand how disruptive this is to your inworld experience. If your region is offline, please go to your support portal and submit a case using the following types: “Land & Region” > “Report an Offline Region”. This queue is being closely monitored to ensure the fastest turnaround possible. We will post an update as soon as we have more information on resolution.
  10. Give him the web address ( http://secondlife.com )and ask him to join.
  11. I explained this to you yesterday in your original post >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/Why-is-my-SL-viewer-suddenly-crashing-with-an-LLCOMMON-DLL-issue/qaq-p/1227511. There is a bug in the V2/V3 codebase. There is no consistent solution at the moment. There are no Lindens here. This is a user-to-user public forum and we are all SL residents like you. If you have helpful observations to make, please post them at that https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-27066 , as I suggested yesterday.
  12. As I explained in your original post, this problem does not have a solution yet. It is a serious bug in the V2/V3 code. LL developers know about it and are working on a fix. For now, the only way to avoid the problem is to use a V1 codebase viewer like Phoenix. You will not find any Lindens here, BTW. We are all SL residents like you. This is a public user-to-user forum.
  13. Well, it has to be at least 44m wide and 40m long, or a total of 1760 sq m to squeeze the building in exactly. Neither 40 nor 44 is an even multiple of 16, though, so you really need a lot that is at least 48 m x 48m, or 2304 just to barely fit the building in the smallest custom-shaped lot you could rent for it. Figuring that most covenant want you to maintain a little free space around your building, though, my guess is that a 64 m x 64m lot is going to work best.
  14. To get a record of the individual items in your order, open Marketplace and click the My Marketplace menu at the top of the page. Select My Account >> Order History from the pulldown menu. Delivery from Marketplace can be slow, so don't panic yet. If you do not receive items within about 24 hours, you should cut and paste the information about a missing item from that Order History and send it in a IM or notecard to the merchant, along with a polite message requesting redelivery. Most merchants are very kind and willing to redeliver. This happens all the time and they are aware of it. Do be patient, though. Not everyone logs in to SL every day or checks their e-mail. If you still haven't heard in another day or two, follow it up with a second polite note and finally, if you STILL haven't heard, file a support ticket at https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ , selecting Marketplace from the pulldown menu. Not that it helps now, but to remember for the future: (1) Don't overuse the shopping cart. It is easily confused if you put more than a couple of things in it. (2) Don't buy things from Marketplace (especially LOTS of things) unless you are in world to receive them at the time. We each have an "in box" that holds IMs, notecards, group notices, group invitations, and anything that is delivered to us if we aren't in world at the time. That "in box" can only hold 25 things, total. If anything else comes in, it isn't saved. It is gone ... poof .... forever. If you have a mess of things delivered from Marketplace and half your friends send you notecards, that in box will be capped and you will never know what happened.
  15. Go to https://support.secondlife.com/contact-support/ . If you are a Premium member of SL, you will see a link to Live Chat in the menu on the right side of the page. That's the best route. If you are a Basic member, you can submit a case form by clicking on the link in the middle of the page. You'll have to select "Account Issue" from the drop down menu. They may or may not be willing to deal with an inventory matter if you are a Basic member. See what happens.

You can get a lot of your questions answered in this wiki page >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Playing_media. Be sure to watch Torley's great tutorial videos there too.
  17. You really should do the Character Test only as a last resort, if all other solutions on the sheet at http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_bake_fail do not work for you. Most bake fail solutions are less disruptive and faster.
  18. Yes, I see the challenge. It sounds like something worth putting into a JIRA request for a new function, or at least bringing up at a users group meeting.
  19. Bummer. This sounds like a good time to file a support ticket or, better still, contact Live Chat.
  20. That's a really good question. I hadn't even noticed the CLICK_ACTION_ZOOM parameter until you mentioned it. It looks very handy. I'll have to play with it now. :smileyhappy: I would have expected it to zoom the camera focus to the spot where your cursor is, though, similar to a manual Alt + Click . Isn't that what it's doing?
  21. Duplicate post. Original answered at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/Why-is-my-SL-viewer-suddenly-crashing-with-an-LLCOMMON-DLL-issue/qaq-p/1227511
  22. This is a serious bug in the V3 viewer code. See https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-27066 and consider adding your own comments and the transcript of data that you posted here. Apparently the only solution for now is to switch to an earlier version of LL's viewer. Phoenix or another viewer built on the V1 codebase ought to work as well.
  23. That's a communication problem between your computer and SL's servers. Information about your appearance has to be "baked" onto your avatar on your own computer, saved there, and then uploaded to SL before it's fully visible there. If the necessary information is messed up in transmission, you may end up with a borked file on your computer, or SL's servers may end up with a borked file. Either way, your av's appearance defaults to a fluffy cloud. What works to repair the damage for one person won't necessarily work for the next person, and it may not be the same thing that works for you tomorrow. See the full list of possibilitites here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_bake_fail . Start with the simple things at the top of the list and work down until you find what works for you today.
  24. I don't use LL's viewer, so I'm afraid I can't give you an answer to your question. I can offer a couple of suggestions, though. First, many photographers use an alt, either as a model or as the photographer. If you do that, the immobile av has no eye movement. Second, if you can get the effect you want with Firestorm, the obvious question is "Why change viewers to one that doesn't seem to do what you want?"
