  1. Take a look at http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/scripting/32062-script-read-song-information-stream.html for a long discussion about how to do what you want. I am not sure about adapting it to Icecast, however. Darkie may have a suggestion once he wanders in on this thread.
  2. If you have set your Preferences to forward all IMs to e-mail, then you will receive them when you are off world. You can also send yourself an e-mail directly by just putting you own e-mail address into the llEmail function call . E-mail in SL occasionally has problems (although I have rarely had trouble myself), but forwarding IMs always works. You won't be able to grab information from the statistics bar, however. There are no LSL functions to allow you to do that. The best you can do is llGetRegionFPS and llGetRegionTimeDilation. ETA: If you haven't changed the default setting in Preferences, your IMs should be stored in the roaming directory on your own hard drive.
  3. You can't load a calculated value into a global variable unless it's in an event or a user-defined function. You are trying to do it in th global declararion area. For your purposes, you don't even need to create global variables. Just use reset(){ integer chosen = (integer)llFrand((lista !=[])); // Same as llGetListLength (lista) vector target = llGetPos() + ( llList2Vector(lista,chosen) - llGetPos() )* llGetRot(); llSitTarget(target, ZERO_ROTATION); llSetSitText("Teleport"); llSetText(fltText, <1.0,1.0,1.0>, 1.0);} In order for your script to work properly, you will also need to repair your changed event, which will now respond to changes of any kind. What you really want is changed (integer change){ if (change & CHANGED_LINK) { if ( llAvatarOnSitTarget() ) { llSleep(0.15); llUnSit(llAvatarOnSitTarget()); reset(); } }}
  4. There are no Lindens here. This is a Resident-to-Resident answer site. However, I have not seen any other reports from people having trouble with that site. I have just tried it myself, and it works fine. A 404 error may occur because the site is temporary unavailable, but it is also commonly returned when the user has mistyped the site's address or when the browser has transmitted it incorrectly. Check the spelling and punctuation for the URL you are using and, if it is correct but you still can't get in, try using another browser.
  5. VirWox is a legitimate Third-Party Currency Exchange, and they do exchange L$ for Euros. Linden Lab does not endorse or guarantee the quality of service from other exchanges, however, and as a SL resident that's about all I can tell you. You will need to go to their web site ( https://www.virwox.com/ ) for information about rates and terms.
  6. Your partner is the one to pay Linden Lab for his membership fee, so the easiest method is to give him the money and let him do it. You can either: 1. Send your partner a check (or use PayPal) for the amount or 2. Pay your partner in world.
  7. Your "character" is your avatar. You have a communication problem between your computer and SL's servers. Information about your appearance has to be "baked" onto your avatar on your own computer, saved there, and then uploaded to SL before it's fully visible there. If the necessary information is messed up in transmission, you may end up with a borked file on your computer, or SL's servers may end up with a borked file. Either way, your av's appearance defaults to a fluffy cloud. What works to repair the damage for one person won't necessarily work for the next person, and it may not be the same thing that works for you tomorrow. See the full list of possibilitites here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_bake_fail . Start with the simple things at the top of the list and work down until you find what works for you today. You may find that the bake fail problem comes back repeatedly, even after you fix it with one of the suggestions on that wiki page. If so, you have a chronically weak Internet connection. There are many steps to take for repairing it. Perhaps the simplest ones -- ones that work best for most people -- are: (1) Don't Use WIRELESS. Wireless connections are inherently less stable than direct cable connections and are more vulnerable to interference. Then, (2) Reboot your router. Unplug it from the power for a few minutes to let it clear its RAM. The plug it back in and let it get a fresh hold on an IP address.
  8. 1. The chart below shows the monthly cost of owning additional amounts of land beyond the initial 512 square meters covered by your premium account. It also shows how many objects you can build on that amount of land. You can own as much land as you choose; change the amount of land you own and your monthly fee will be adjusted accordingly. Your bill at the end of the month is based on the peak amount of land you owned during the previous 30 days. For example, if you pay a total of US$14.95 ($9.95 for premium and $5 for extra land), then you can own a total of 1024 square meters with a land capacity of 234. Monthly Land Fee(1) Additional Land (over 512m2) Parcel Size (m2) Land Capacity(2) US$5 1/128 region 512 117 US$8 1/64 region 1,024 234 US$15 1/32 region 2,048 468 US$25 1/16 region 4,096 937 US$40 1/8 region 8,192 1,875 US$75 1/4 region 16,384 3,750 US$125 1/2 region 32,768 7,500 US$195 Full region 65,536 15,000 (1) Each month, you land will bill at the lowest tier that is equal to or greater than the maximum amount of land you held in the month prior.(2) These land capacities are based on the maximum amount of land you may own in this tier. If you own less, the values will be different. Your land capacity is always (total m2 owned in this region) * 15,000 / 65,536, rounded down. 2. What you get for "free" is the right to occupy a 512 sq m. plot of mainlaind without paying a monthly land fee. If you have a Linden Home, you are occupying that piece of land. If you abandon the Linden Home, you may apply your free tier to any other piece of mainland that you own. 3. Eveything you need to know is in the Knowledge Base >>>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Beginning-landowner-FAQ/ta-p/700035 . Study all of the related links. There are MANY.
  9. Start reading >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Beginning-landowner-FAQ/ta-p/700035 The short answer: The Mainland is "Linden Land".
  10. It can sometimes take anywhere from a few minutes to a day or more for your items to be delivered, especially if the merchant's Magic Box is temporarily out of service or the sim it's on is offline. Not that it helps now, but to remember for the future: (1) Don't overuse the shopping cart. It is easily confused if you put more than a couple of things in it. (2) Don't buy things from Marketplace (especially LOTS of things) unless you are in world to receive them at the time. We each have an "in box" that holds IMs, notecards, group notices, group invitations, and anything that is delivered to us if we aren't in world at the time. That "in box" can only hold 25 things, total. If anything else comes in, it isn't saved. It is gone ... poof .... forever. If you have a mess of things delivered from Marketplace and half your friends send you notecards, that in box will be capped and you will never know what happened. So, what do you do now? ....... To get a record of the individual items in your order, open Marketplace and click the My Marketplace menu at the top of the page. Select My Account >> Order History from the pulldown menu. If you do not receive items within about 24 hours, you should cut and paste the information about a missing item from that Order History and send it in a IM or notecard to the merchant, along with a polite message requesting redelivery. Most merchants are very kind and willing to redeliver. This happens all the time and they are aware of it. Do be patient, though. Not everyone logs in to SL every day or checks their e-mail. If you still haven't heard in another day or two, follow it up with a second polite note and finally, if you STILL haven't heard, file a support ticket at https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ , selecting Marketplace from the pulldown menu.
  11. You provide the value. SL provides the platform. See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Managing-your-Marketplace-store/ta-p/700191
  12. A partial list .... 1. Not enough room to sit on object 2. Object scripted to respond only to owner or group member 3. Object blocked by a transparent object ( a window, a tree, ....) 4. Object is not a door
  13. You're not going to find a script that does exactly that. It's a custom application, so it would need to be written specifically for you. We are not here to write scripts or to find them for you, but we can tell you what you'll have to do to write your own, or modify one that you have. In this case, you need to create a list with interesting phrases and then call them from that list when you trigger the script with a touch, or some other signal. For example, if you have a list that says list FishChat = ["I love to go fishing, just for the halibut.", "I'm a sole food man.", "My favorite actress will always be Marlin Monroe."]; you can trigger the phrases randomly from a touch_start event with code like touch_start (integer num){ list FishChat = ["I love to go fishing, just for the halibut.", "I'm a sole food man.", "My favorite actress will always be Marlin Monroe."]; integer Choice = (integer)llFrand(llGetListLength(FishChat)); llSay(0, llList2String(FishChat,Choice);} Take a look in the LSL wiki to see how the llFrand function and llList2String and llGetListLength work. If you don't want to tackle writing this yourself, then I suggest posting a note in the Wanted section of the Commerce forums to find a scripter to hire.

    can't register

It looks like Cinn's answer is probably your best bet. Internet Explorer has problems with a lot of systems. Yours may be one of them. Try Firefox or Chrome, maybe.

    Getting Naked

You are wearing a modesty skin. Linden Lab issues then to newbies so that they won't shock each other by getting naked accidentally. You should find a few immodest skins in the Library folders of your inventory. Just try a few until you find one that works. Ultimately, you'll want to go shopping for one that matches your self-image, of course, but that can wait until you have a reasonably good idea of who you are. :smileytongue:
  16. Oh! Not buying from a vendor with Buy Contents? Buying from the object itself with Buy Copy? D'uh. Of course. I should have thought of that. It's Friday. :smileyfrustrated: Nice catch, Ela.

    can't register

You are already obviously registered for an account, because you have an account name and can sign on to these forums. Did you download and install a viewer? ( See >>> https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/?lang=en-US . ) If you did, do you mean that you cannot log in with your SL viewer? Why not? What happens when you try? What does "it can't show appearance" mean? Do you get an error message of some kind? We cannot help unless you give more infomation. To add information, click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread, because that just means that we have to start all over again with your problem. ETA: Look at Cinn's answer to another question over here >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Account/quot-choose-an-avatar-quot/qaq-p/1376855 . Is THAT what you are talking about?
  18. That's a communication problem between your computer and SL's servers. If the necessary information is messed up in transmission, you may end up with a borked file on your computer, or SL's servers may end up with a borked file. Either way, your av's appearance defaults to a fluffy cloud or a "white oval" or "white egg". What works to repair the damage for one person won't necessarily work for the next person, and it may not be the same thing that works for you tomorrow. See the full list of possibilitites here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_bake_fail . 19. Right. I overlooked the fact that she's dealing with L$0 items, so there's no money event to triggter. Unfortunately, however, your solution won't work either. The vendor isn't changing owners; the article being "sold" is. If the OP has her vendor set to "Buy on left-click", the script shouldn't even register the touch. As I see it, there are two possible ways around the problem. In order of increasing complexity: 1. Don't do anything. The vendor should report the "sale" to the OP's Transation History, so she should be able to simply count the hits there when she downloads the month's transactions. 2. Change the "Buy on left-click" option to "Touch on left-click" and write a new vendor script like this: integer gCount;default{ touch_end(integer num) { integer i; for (i=0;i < llGetInventoryNumber(INVENTORY_ALL); ++i) //Or simplify this if only giving one object { string InvName = llGetInventoryName(INVENTORY_ALL,i); if ( InvName != llGetScriptName()) { llGiveInventory(llDetectedKey(0), InvName); } } llSetObjectDesc( (string) (++gCount)); }} The only way you could make the CHANGED_OWNER option work would be rather convoluted, since you'd have to put the script in the L$0 item and it wouldn't trigger until the new owner rezzed it, maybe days later and almost certainly on a different sim.
  20. Setting the shop as Home only means that you can return to that spot instantly if you type CTRL + Shift + H or click your viewer's Home button. It doesn't do anything else. Anything that you purchase on Marketplace is delivered directly to your inventory. If things you ordered haven't arrived, you will need to send each merchant a polite note that includes the details of your order (cut and pasted from your Transaction History) and asks for a redelivery. Not that it helps now, but to remember for the future: (1) Don't overuse the Marketplace shopping cart. It is easily confused if you put more than a couple of things in it. (2) Don't buy things from Marketplace (especially LOTS of things) unless you are in world to receive them at the time. 21. Yes, you do, I'm afraid, although you also have the option of filing a support ticket at https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ , selecting Marketplace from the pulldown menu. It can sometimes take anywhere from a few minutes to a day or more for your items to be delivered, especially if the merchant's Magic Box is temporarily out of service or the sim it's on is offline. Finally, as I said at the start, you can try filing a support ticket at https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ . My guess is that their response, for that many items, will be slow as well.
  22. You can earn more than twenty bucks in a short afternoon selling burgers in a MacDonald's in RL. That's a lot faster way to make money than most things you can do in SL. Twenty bucks is about L$5,000. As a dancer, expect your tips to be a few hundred L$ a night, occasionally higher and sometimes lower. Meanwhile, you won't have any other social life in SL because you are working. (I know. I've been there.) If you want to be able to enjoy SL, I suggest saving your coffee money in RL and buying L$ with it instead.
  23. You should rarely need to clear cache and almost never need to do the character test. It sounds as if you have a chronic connection problem that is preventing avatar appearance data from being updated properly on your own computer and then uploaded to SL where you and others can see it. If you have been using wireless, this would be a good time to stop. Wireless is vulnerable to all sorts of RF interference created by everything from cell phones to fluorescent light fixtures, so it's often a problem for SL residents. That may not be the solution to your problem, but its a good place to start. Open your Statistics Bar (CTRL + Shift + 1) and look at the Packet Loss and Ping Sim numbers near the top. Packet loss should be very close to zero and certainly well under 1%. If it isn';t, you are loosing data somewhere between your machine and SL. Ping Sim should be less than about 100ms normally, although numbers twice that high are not alarming. If they are any higher, though, data is taking way too long to travel between you and SL. There are many possible places that either problem could be. See http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/ for a good overview. Often the best place to look is your router. Try simply rebooting it. Unplug it from the power for a few minutes and then plug it back in again. That will give it time to clear its RAM and start fresh. You can also try temporarily bypassing it completely by plugging your Internet cable directly into your modem. If the problem goes away, you know it was probably in the router.
  24. Sure. Define a global integer variable to use as a counter and then increment it by one every time your script gives the sold item. So, at the very top of the sript, you add something like integer gCount; and in the money event or wherever you deliver the item, you add a line that says ++gCount; Then all you need is a way to get the results. My favorite easy method is to write the current value of gCount in the vendor's Description field. Then you don't need to do anything but look at it with your Build/Edit tool every once in a while (or just mouseover, if you set your viewer up to do that). Writing to the vendor's description just means adding one more line, right after the one that increments gCount.... lSetObjectDesc((string)gCount); That's it.
  25. Angel is right. Another way to look at it, though, is that all of SL is a video chat. You are really sitting in your RL room in front of a keyboard, and everyone else you meet in SL is doing the same thing. When your avs are in the same place in SL, you are "seeing" each other and can talk by typed chat or voice. The only difference between that and RL video chat is that you are seeing each other's avatars. For most of us, that's what SL is about. After all, as Angel says, you can always use Skype or some other video conferencing program if you want to see each other's RL faces.
