  1. One suggestion which might have some value to you, or to others. I have made a list locally on my PC of all the shape parameters, so I can reconstruct it again from scratch if it ever becomes necessary. Doing that, you also get a shape with full perms. I used it to clone myself in another ID.
  2. Thanks, Jayvell for your contribution. I tried the method you suggested, using exactly 500x373, but I still find the same effect... stretched in Phoenix. However, you have hit on something, because your profile pic looks great in Phoenix. It is not a stretched version of the square-cropped pic as mine is. I too use more than one viewer for different reasons, but the main issue I have is that it is what other people see that matters, and there are many using Phoenix.
  3. There was always a problem in getting the right aspect ratio for a profile picture so that it works nicely with all viewers. Viewer2 displays it square, and Phoenix (for example) displays it in ratio 4:3. However much care was taken, it was impossible to get it right in both viewers. Well, now that the profile picture can be uploaded via the web site, if you upload a picture of any aspect ratio it will show correctly in the fully expanded view, and is cropped to square, without stretching for the smaller version. It seems the perfect solution. BUT.. I am finding that when I upload a perfect 4:3 picture, it looks fine in viewer 2, but OMG, would you believe it, Phoenix takes the cropped square version, and then stretches it out, so it is still wrong in Phoenix. Does anyone know a way of creating a profile picture that looks right in both of these two viewers? (At the time of wriing mine is square, but the effect can be seen in my Alt, Merlin2).
  4. Thanks Magdala, that sound like a good idea. It might help the problem of people calling us by our full username instead of our display name too. It happens a lot at live concerts when the singer welcomes people in the audience.
  5. Yes, that sounds a likely explaination. Actually, with the first and second name idea, LL had a good way of preventing this sort of thing. But I am wondering if just a small number of people are grabbing lots of IDs. There is little point in doing it because I don't think they could be sold or anything. I found a similar problem with youtube too. Lots of the IDs I tried were taken, but had nothing uploaded.
  6. I have seen a similar effect lots of times, but usually more symmetrical, like little tears under each eye. I am only surprised that others who replied have not mentioned it.
  7. Yes, I wondered if they were reserved by LL. Wow! Robert is a really tempting ID, but I suppose I would be guilty of doing the thing I am criticising. Still, it gives me hope that there are still some good ones left.
  8. I was trying to find a good username for an alternate ID, and looked up some names I liked. I have noticed that a great many good names have been taken, for example 'John' etc, but what is very noticable is that many of these good names have no profile information whatever. They seem to have been simply reserved, but never used. It seems wrong that people can reserve an ID in this way if they are not going to use it.
  9. I like realistic looking body shapes. Actually, most of the standard library avatar shapes great, and with different skin, hair, and clothes you would not recognise them. I started with the one nearest to my real life look and tred to modify it to make it even closer. It is odd that many of the shapes you can buy, especially the male ones are groteque. What is even stranger is that people like them.
