I have ran into the this many times in the USA, where one sides with a certain race over another. I have lived on the Rez before and yes we did have people from different cultures that sided with being Native American because that was how they were raised in society..Just because of a skin tone it does not make you Mexican, African, Caucasian, French. This has to do with many times your society and your own personal beliefs. There is no such thing as "part-native". Either you're Native or you're not. It isn't the quantity of Native blood in your veins that is important, but the quality of it and your pride in it. I have seen full-bloods who have virtually no idea of the great legacy entrusted to their care. Yet, I have seen people with a little drop of Native blood who inspire the spirits of their ancestors because they make being Native American a proud part of their everyday life.
I do agree with you Jwenting, this is a country that says they are not racist or do not care what your race is, but it is shown everyday that racism still exists, more prone in different parts of the country than others..It is very sad to say the least but it still exist but as you said that is a whole different topic because we would be going way off subject.
