  1. I've always thought that Summer Wars was what Second Life wishes it was.
  2. Back in my days, you saw a grey body before the textures came in, and it loaded quickish. Nowadays, you either have a cloud of body parts, or a case where you cannot tell whether or not they're nude on purpose or the clothes simply havn't rendered in yet. Aren't mesh bodies fun? Also, for really crowded events, I have some low complexity stuff just so that I don't lag people out.
  3. Oh, you won't talk to me if I'm in mesh? https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/MOR-laprian-avatar-free/4718996 You didn't say what kind.
  4. I'd say 'racist' is a bit strong. But yes, there are snobs. Even worse there are those who won't look at you if it isn't the *right kind* of mesh *cough5000lforducklipscough*.
  5. My mesh head cost me a pretty penny already, it'll be ages before I can afford the body. Besides, I got plenty of clothes.
  6. Hoo boy: Point the First: I can't exactly complain about gatchas in general. These days, they're about the only thing keeping a store inworld. See, the trick to gatchas is not to look for a specific thing. Rather, choose gatchas where you will be happy with the first thing that pops out, especially those that give vouchers for a copy/mod item, or some other way to get a copy/mod version of the item. For everything else, yard sales. And I don't trust no-copy rezables, that is a recipe for losing the damn thing. Point the second: I won't target a specific creator, but I'm not happy with the general abandonment of the system body. I respect people's desires to dress thier own way, but when I see things like human heads costing as much as a entire furry avatar (if not more), and so many creators basing thier entire incomes on the efforts of one person who could well die or otherwise suffer a ill stroke of luck that takes them off SL for good is a bit disconcerting. I'm just glad that there's no male equivalent to the Maitreya (that is, a mesh body that practically has a monopoly on the human look).
  7. Yeah, my web profile got the new pic, but the old in-world pic is still there.
  8. I've only been back a couple of months after a couple year-absence, so here's my lowdown: Bento: LL added a few more animation bones, so you can not only have animated wings and tails, but hands and and faces as well. However: Mesh bodies: In order to have said animated hands and faces, you need a mesh body and hands. And a lot of people have effectively abandoned the classic avatars for said mesh bodies, making it harder to find clothes for the classic avatar, and adding a additional 'catching-up' expense for long-time returners with less stable linden incomes, like myself. (Okay, I'm a little bitter, I can still wring a lot of use from what I got, but the writing's on the wall as far as I'm concerned....)
  9. What's the cheapest way to play this game? I know I'm gonna have to buy the full version eventually.
  10. I know your pain. I've been gone a couple years and it practically feels like a mesh body is mandatory. I'd suggest you shop around a bit first, no two things are alike (5000l for duck lips? Seriously). I've been kinda scrimping and saving myself. Speaking of heads, I'd suggest a Utilizator 'Normie' head.
  11. I get hives if I ever go past 200,000. Even now I am trying phase out invisiprims and flexi hair.
  12. Every MMO has it's doomsayers. I remember predicting the death of UO.... in 1998. I stayed there for about 4 years after that.
  13. Don't forget that there are people whose hackles raise at the thought of any subscription fee. Pokemon Bank charges 5 bucks a YEAR, and there are people still complaining about it. Also, what about the folk going on multi-year hiatuses for whatever reason?
  14. After a prolonged absence, I came back, but I see a small snag for my more human avatars. It's gotten to the point that it's possible that nobody will make clothes for the 'classic' avatar anymore, which will be a problem down the road. So I'll know I'll have to bite the bullet and get a mesh body. I've narrowed it down to two: Physique and Avatar 2.0. I already got the Slink hands, because bento, but I'm wondering.... Avatar 2.0 defaults to female, and while there's a flat chest option, I don't exactly want a girlyboi. I'm talking about shoulders, hips. I don't mind being bishounen, but I'd like to be a relatively masculine bishounen. As for Physique, is it close enough to Standard Size that I can use my old mesh stuff? I can mess with alphas toggling.
  15. There's another problem. Considering SL's... well, rep, Who's gonna want to carry it? Sure ain't gonna be Walmart.
  16. Of course, once you re-install, you might have to sit in a empty water sim for ages so your inventory is re-cached.
  17. 1. Gendermorph with male preference 2. No more than the Internet in general 3. Do you want to hear me complain about the Menswear Ghetto? 4. Dude, INTERNET.
  18. It feels like every problem's popping up at once. Inventory faults, cannot create requested inventory, you name it, I've suffered it. What the hells is going on? When does it stop?
  19. What? They consider this damning? Boy, are they out of touch. I don't even play WoW, or even live in Maine, for that matter, and she still got my vote.
  20. U and R are *letters* not bloody words. Can the text speak, I think it's ruining your brain. No, I DO NOT need to hear how this tune 'vibrates your hoo-ha'. Notice that it's always female avis (no doubt played by dudes) that use that gesture. I have yet to hear the guy equivalent. Jeezus, did you have to use that 60-line ASCII art right in the middle of the crowd. And you wonder why nobody talks in clubs nowadays? On the other hand, I can forgive typos. I typo, you typo, we all typo.
  21. Do you even know what needs to be active in a sim no matterv what, like breedables, subscribers, and delivery systems? What will happen to those?
  22. We better get br- compensated for putting up with this.
  23. Can't login, and the main site's down ENTIRELY. How bloody long is this gonna last?
  24. What I've seen so far is either a AO with a stand animation that's higher priority than the typing animation, or has a typing animation of it's own. In the latter case, you can usually buy the typing animation seperately and placing it in a AO of your choice. What I like though, are the typing objects that appear when you type. Quite a few places got those, Grendel's Children got the cheapest.
