It should be rather simple to figure this out and see if LL is acting within the laws. Any of you making use of an US based server host? Any of you playing other games located in the US? Please check your invoices if they charge you VAT or not. It makes indeed a big difference if I buy an american product from an american company based in the EU or if I make use of american service from a company based in the US. In fact when we play in SL, the product never leaves the boundaries of the US. We're all playing under american jurisdiction (as you experience every time you mutter a certain term that starts with F), so EU VAT isn't applicable. Maybe there are special laws for internet services since we make use of them while still sitting in our various homes around the EU. So it somehow became an exported good? The must have offices somewhere in the EU zone. Charging VAT doesn't add any profit for LL but only gives them more work. Since any business is collecting VAT only to relay it to the respective gov'ment. This creates nothing but extra trouble for LL. No clever company would ever do that. On the other hand ... welll, using the terms LL and clever in one sentence doesn't make sense neither.

Hi Stela, I hope you and your hubby just didn't buy each a parcel but made a group and bought it for that group. Groups get 20% bonus land, which is great. And this brings me to your question. If the land is group owned you'll find the amount of available land in the group info! It must be 1000 m² more now. If not - ask LL to look into it! To make sure the land is reallly sold, check for the new owner in land info.

A Linden home doesn't, so you have a home and still all 117 prims for yourself. As soon as you become a real landowner every prim counts against you. Having any meaningful home on a 512 parcel is kinda impossible so take at least a 1024 ... at least 5) GOLDEN PROTIP: Buy the parcel with friends. Make a landholding group and buy the parcel for group. Many ppl aren't using their free 512 so ask them to contribute to your land. Also group owned land get's a bonus of 20%.

Ashlyn, did you log out properly when you left last time? Or was it maybe a crash, maybe even during a simcrossing? Your acc might still be logged in. Try to log in with an alt (preferably one that's a friend of your main avie), see if your main is still online and locate the last whereabouts. Once you established your ghost is still logged in ... - contact the owner of the sim (if private estate) and ask them to restart the sim. That will release your ghost. - contact live chat help (if LL owned mainland), give 'em the exact coords of your avie's ghost and ask them to log you out.

Hi Uzumaki, what you describe sounds more like a general wearyness of SL than some diffuse difference between the "old SL" and a "new SL". It's natural that the sense of wonder disappears with the time, as we grow and become wiser. Stuff isn't as exciting as it was when we were noobs. Of course SL has changed a bit since 2008. But it already had changed from 2006 to 2008. But not much; not as much as you believe it has. What really has changed in those 5 years is you! So, to answer your question: No, I'm not missing old SL, I'm missing old me.

Yes, Aqua, I always mod the camera settings when I get a new Trudeau. I prefer the look from straight behind, makes it so much easier to follow the red arrow and steer towards a beacon when navigating. But apart from Trudeau I don't know of any boat with moddable settings. Fortunately most boats have the camera positioned correctly right from the get go.

I'm a busy girl in SL and usually have better things to do than just caring about my makeup. Of course I want to look great but don't waste too much energy, time, money and layers into my skin. I use tattoo layers for just that: tattoos. I don't use prim eyelashes or finger nails, hardly ever wear glasses or dramatic makeups. When I go skin shopping I usually opt for single skins with natural makeup and decolleté and freckled options. That skin I wear until I'm tired of it and then go and buy a new one. I have a collection of many different skins and wear them for different occasions. But only 1 of each, so I change my whole look rather than details. So for me it's full skins!

When you're hunting for land to buy switch Show Parcel Lines (or so) on in your viewer. So you can see the exact borders of the parcel you want to purchase. Also we can now officially make "megaprims" of up to 64x64x64 without any trickery. So it's easy to create a footprint of your house and rezz it on the land (if enabled). See that you have enough space around your house left, as regarded in many covenants if you're going for estate land. Also it's nice to have a bit of free space around your house for some trees and shrubbery. When buying on mainland you will come across a lot of irregular sized and shaped parcels. Look at all the parcels bordering Linden roads for example, they are often totally zigzagged and you'll lose a lot of usuable space. Also plan into the future. You might get tired of your house and want a bigger one. In those cases it's good to have extra space to rezz it.

I have problems with objects appearing while I type. It's maybe my lame connection or lag, but what use is the flashy gadget when it only apppears for a split second on screen; particularly when I give short answers and comments and don't type a full novel? So for me I don't suppress the typing anymore but am using just the boring old invisible typewriter.

I bought a house once, a factory building I wanted to use as private home. Just because I loved that build. Didn't have land back then tho and rezzed it in a sandbox to check it out. But the building never showed. Since it was no copy I could see it was gone from my inventory but never appeared in world. So I contacted the builder and they were nice enough and sent me a new one. Next try, same result. House left the invent but never rezzed in world. At least that's what I thought. I don't know why but somehow I zoomed out when I was just ready to leave the sandbox and call it a day. And there they were, 2 nice brandnew factory buildings hovering about 50 meters above ground. Uh oh. Shock. What an embarassment. I felt so stupid. I hope nobody will ever find out about my blindness. On the other hand it must be said it's rather strange for an obejct to rezz around 50 meters above the point where you wanted it. Needless to say I later managed to delete a lot of stuff accidentally, which made for funny moments for all the people around me while it was more like facepalm moments for me.

... and yes, the traffic in SL is traditionallly higher in fall and winter months than in spring and summer. Makes oerfect sense doesn't it?

This isn't a new effect and has nothing to with the version or make of the viewer.They all have one thing in common, LL production and 3rd party viewers: graphics settings. I suppose you didn't play around with advanced graphics settings before and now when installing the new viewer it was set automatically to match your computer's graphic abilities. There are many many finetuning options in the graphics tab, draw distance, atmospheric shaders, LOD, filters, whatnots and their grandmas. Go play with it and find what works best for you and your GPU.

AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1GB GDDR5 Yes, although I'm not a fan of ATi GPUs this sounds much better. Still a laptop and not really suggested. The mobile versions never reach the potential of the namesake desktop components. If you really must have a laptop look for a gaming machine, Dell's XPS and Alienware, some MSI and ASUS machines come to mind. But in the case of ASUS don't expect good build quality. To make itt short: Vehicle users of all kinds are no happy campers anymore, never really been happy in the first place. Question for us is what are we going to do to get LL give us some serious commitment to fix their grid? Hanne, Vickie and me have announced to stop all our races for TrYC ... but what use is it? - LL won't even notice. They will be happy for less tragic incidents in the public waters, if they notice anything at all. Fi and Charlz are talking about giving up their sim and become hobos. - How will that help? LL are loosing so many sims right now, one more won't bother them at all. I'm thinking about giving up my premium account and toss my little parcel as well. - LL will laugh their asses off. I think only heavy pressure, applied by the big estate owners, will make them listen and put more effort into fixing all the problems.
