I'm not using a display name, and the "friend can see when you're online" was checked. "Show only friends online" is not ticked in my preferences.

Before logging in a friend went to the dashboard, saw my name wasn't on her friend's list, concluded I was not allowing her to see when I was online, and is now unhappy with me. I did not "uncheck" her, and she should be able to see my status at all times. I understand why she is unhappy, and this is a friendship I value. Any ideas about what's happening would be greatly appreciated.
