  1. It looks like that creator made an avatar for that too. There's a complete avatar named Celeste there that looks just like the model. It might be best to start there.
  2. My memory's a little fuzzy, but don't Lola's also have nipple appliers? It's possible that you have the nipples turned on, but you don't have a texture for them. You could either turn off the nipples in the NC or make appliers for the nipples too.
  3. It's a mesh avi and yes it looks very good inworld. A friend of mine got one; I just hope it's supported and designers make clothes for it.
  4. I tried to tackle this problem a couple of years ago, taught myself how to use blender and everything. Here's the problem: there are literally millions of shape combinations, then couple that with mesh parts and bodies! It was headache inducing and eventually I got frustrated and gave up. The whole mesh body and parts thing very much put clothes making in a state of flux these past couple of years. If you're talking about a regular system avatar, the upper body isn't that much of the problem. It's the lower body, the lower body has to have the widest range of sizes by far. It's very hard to pin down an average of anything. If you go to an "urban" sim, butts and breasts and Avis in general tend to be bigger. Now you're in the extreme side of the sliders, if you go to the "fashionista" camp the shapes tend to have extremely long, thin legs and very wide hips. See where I'm going with this? There are different types of "curvy". Someone did make a curvy sized shape pack for mesh modelling, I can't remember her name right now. I don't think it caught on though. There are curvy sized mesh bottoms out there though.
  5. I just want to add, Fusion, the maker of Wide Load mesh butts and Evolution mesh breasts also makes three mesh bodies. One of them is an androgenous type with a small chest. Very underrated, although I love my Maitreya, I have to say it's a well made body.
  6. I tend to mix and match. Skin tight stuff tends to look good in system (or appliers) Something baggy, billowy, etc tends to look better in mesh. I find you can get some great results by mixing them up to create an outfit.
  7. Just to clarify what I meant, I didn't mean mesh bodies will mold exactly to your SL shape. That was why I said more or less. You're still at the mercy of the designer's interpretation of the body. Most of the differences are with the breast shape, hips, thighs, butt and belly and there is a range you can adjust before you deform the mesh. Technically speaking the standard SL shape IS a mesh body, although a low poly one, that's why it looks even weirder at the extreme ranges. What happens when you put on a mesh body is you're putting on a mesh over the mesh , which is why you have to wear an alpha, because some areas will fit and some areas will not match. But overall, when you put on a mesh body that IS your shape, however since the body is sized and shaped different certain parts will look different and you'll have to adjust. But I find Maitreya and Belleza needs less adjusting than the other ones.
  8. +1 for Maitreya or Belleza. The best thing about mesh bodies are they more or less mold to the shape you're wearing. So if your shape isn't curvy to begin with it's not going to add too much to it. It'll just smooth you out, so to speak.
  9. If you followed what I was saying, you'd notice "Myself" was in quotation marks, even though you quoted it. Maybe you missed that. This is a thread about ethnic skins and how underrepresented they are in SL, I chose a skin complexion that was similar to my own in real life and I choose to be my "ideal" self in SL (uh oh there are those quotation marks again). If you don't understand what quotation marks mean, that's on you. Who are you to judge how I live my second life?
  10. Thanks! This has to be something she added in the last few days. I can go back to being "myself" in SL. I bought it as soon as I saw your post.
  11. It definitely has gotten better over the past couple of years and as a half black/half PR, I feel your pain. I find the trouble is more for girls that are in the mid range like myself. I'm more of an almond complexion or "red boned" as we say and that's very tough to match from RL. I either feel, I'm too light or too dark. I find myself changing skins a lot and just when I thought I had it, I went and got the Maitreya body and I'm back to square one. I will say lately from looking at some girls' blogs, I've noticed some of them kind of transitioned to looking more black, which is a little strange and a little jarring, yet a little flattering. Watching someone's blog go from preppy white to more urban, still not quite sure how I feel about it. I think it's trendy now, but it's great for us that want ethnic skins. I've even noticed some makers have come out with asian skins, which I think is even harder to find than a black skin. Some skins I like: WOW skins- This is the first skin maker I think that got it right. I can't remember the name of the skin, but they are very well done all the way down to the nipples and pores. I'm not logged in, but I want to say the skin is called Elena. The only thing I didn't like about that skin it came with blue eyeliner. I think I got it in a discount sale for 50 or 100Ls. She later updated it, with appliers and called it something else, but it was the same skin base. Birdy- I know some people here don't care for the look (it's a little teeny) but her Jordan skin is beautiful. I really wish she'd make another one. Think Tatiyana Ali from Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Deesees- I think these skins a great for a more mature look like 35-45 range. Modish- She also makes a nice range of skin tones and age range too. I'm wearing her Alexa skin currently, I like it and she came out with Maitreya appliers very fast. Meghindo- I never bought her skins, but I know a lot of women that love them. She usually bases them off of famous people. So if you're into that, they're for you. Glance- She also makes very nice ethnic skins. I'm not sure what happend to her store, hopefully she's updating or something, but she tends to disappear for a while then come back. Egozy- This is a very unique looking skin. Whatever she does, I've never seen a skin like that, but she doesn't make appliers for Maitreya either so I had to stop wearing it. It's the skin I'm wearing in my profile pic. It's a very glossy looking skin. I don't think she has a mainstore, you can only get her skins from MP or skin fairs. Very reasonable price and they come with mesh ears and appliers. Hope that helps a little. There are ethnic skins out there, but you really have to dig to find them. I'm sure I'm leaving a few out.
  12. My story is similar to yours except I discovered mesh bodies with the WowMeh and knew this was exactly what I was looking for with mesh parts. I always liked mesh but had to give it up with all the mesh parts. But now I can wear mesh most of the time. I say most of the time because no matter what body you have none have a perfect alpha system. But here's what I did, pick a nice mesh outfit then size yourself down to a particular size without using the alpha. I use Small sizes, but sometimes I wear an XS. It depends on the maker. Now only apply the alpha to the parts that are breaking the mesh. When I'm not wearing mesh I'm pretty curvy when I wear mesh I shrink down a bit. So I have what I call a thick shape and a mesh shape in my folder. Hope that helps.
  13. It would be hard to find a club that specifically plays trap. Hip Hop clubs open and close frequently so your best bet is to make a few friends that host or DJ and go to those. Unfortunately with that, you're going to open yourself up to a lot of random TPs and sometimes strange conference spam. It's a scene that's a little misunderstood on this forum so it's best to ask inworld.
  14. I'm not sure how fat you mean by fat, but there are plenty of bbw shapes on the marketplace for a low price. You would probably need to tweak one of them to your liking, so make sure it's at least copy/mod
  15. In 2015 the word "model" will be replaced with the word "blogger". Then you'll need good web design skills and photoshop skills to stand out from the crowd. Blogging is how you model now.
  16. I hate to repeat the previous poster, but this is a case where it's going to come down to the skin. You might want to look for freebies and group gifts if money is an issue. It seems like your shape is about as accurate as you can make it. It's the little details in the skin that are going to pull it together. One you are going to have to get a more Asian looking skin. The one you have looks very Anglo.
  17. I hope this cycle doesn't begin again. I've stuck with the WowMeh body because I don't know what's going to happen next. I was going to get the Lena next, but now I'm unsure. The belleza body is supposed to come out with a curvy version soon as well. This mesh body thing is serious business.
  18. The simplest answer is to use seamless textures (not all textures that are seamless actually are) and to resize the pattern to a size that barely covers where you are trying to apply it. It's going to take a little trial and error on your part to get it how you want it.
  19. I kind of feel like the OP was trolling, but you never know.
  20. I usually assume the person is a creep when they do it. Why? Because it's a creepy thing to do.
  21. I didn't mean to offend you with the chart thing, it really wasn't aimed at you. I know some people do use a chart when they make their shape though and it makes them feel like their opinion carries more weigh somehow. I posted from my phone last night and half the post got cut off while I was typing it. It really wasn't a big deal for me to even go back and retype it. I just think it's funny that the peanut gallery is still complaining about mesh and mesh parts and the newer skins. They're here to stay, posting pics of people they think look funny or strange isn't going to change that. Mainly this is about body image and different people have opinions about what that is. So I'll stop with this thought a skin maker told me a lot time ago about SL: People don't really want realistic because it's boring. Just something to think about.
  22. That's actually me in that first pic, so I appreciate the kind remark. I thought I heard someone snapping pics(they came out nicely!) Personally, I don't think my butt is all that big. Again as I always say on here: what looks good to some people, looks terrible to others. It's time for us as adults to accept that. I'm not offended, I'm flattered that I'm someone's example of something. I also wanted to add I think it's silly people are breaking out bmi charts for second life or using charts period to make an avatar. It cracks me up when people refer to charts to
  23. The only thing that can really be suggested is a lot of trial and error. Now you're trying to do two different types of clothing, which will further overwhelm you. My advice is to either work with system clothes or mesh to start out with, not both.
  24. While it's easy to say it might be another creator doing this (and it most likely is), you still have to consider that there are plenty of players that simply hate mesh parts and griefers that it could literally be anybody. Another thing to think about is that it is entirely too easy to do this to someone, even if it is temporary something like this can be very off putting. This is an example where the burden of proof should be on the accuser, but it's not.
