  1. This is an ongoing known bug since the major Server Upgrade push the week of May 8th, 9th & 10th. At this time there is no known solution or fix. Basically, If you attempt to rez an object near one of your property lines that is adjacent to a neighboring parcel that does not allow object entry, the "pointer beam" destination is mistakenly being calculated to be in the neighboring parcel. Thus the incorrect message(s). In some cases, the object is rezzed then immediately 1) returned to your inventory or 2) disappears into the region temp storage area at (0,0,0)/queue. As a region owner, I'm having to help my tenants by restarting the regions regularly to flush these lost items back into their inventory. Possible Temp Get-around for Estate Parcel & Mainland Parcel Owners: Try rezzing closer to another property line then if successful, carefully more the object to it's intended position. MightOverwhelm, I'm afraid that you are in more a more difficult position on your 512 sqm parcel since your neighboring parcels will usually be the Linden spacing strips which don't allow object entry. This issue is part of a huge JIRA post that I've not included as it's incredibly detailed without a lot of specific remedies. Hang in there!
  2. Rati, Your Free Account is yours. No need to change it's status in any way. No need to deactivate it either. Just come back when you are ready and it will be there waiting for you. Any inventory you may have acquired will likewise still be there as well. Rezzed objects in-world may or not be still there depending on where you rezzed them. On your own property, they will remain as long at the tiers or rents are paid up and current. If in a sandbox, the return policy for that sandbox will dictate when your rezzed objects are returned.
  3. Welcome to SecondLife Amakaii, Start by reading the information on the links on this page: http://secondlife.com/whatis/avatar/ They will take you to the MarketPlace where avatar customization is a thriving business. There you may find New Skins, Shapes, Make-up,, Clothes, etc. In fact, you can get whole avatars if you prefer a surreal look or wish to become any of 100's of possible fantasy creatures. The rest of the techniques are learned when using your avatar's inventory to control the exact details of your "look". A detailed discussion can be found here in regards to modifying your avatar: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Controlling-your-avatar-s-appearance/ta-p/700709

  5. Hello John, There are some technical details to be found here including some testing you can perform to diagnose the problem further on the following link: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Voice/Technical While I could't find anything that specifically addresses your modem issue, there may be valuable clues to it's behavior in this discussion. The one question I would ask is are you also using the Cable Modem for VOIP? That seems to be discussed a bit as a natural conflict. I hope this helps.
  6. I so agree! Unfortunately I need to use it for a few of my clients requirements but I do also use Firefox & Chrome
  7. Guten tag! Options 1: Follow Valerie's suggestions and if still having issues then you have run across one of the few websites that will honor a Preferred Language setting in Internet Explorer Option 2: OK - here are the steps..In English: From Microsoft: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/change-your-internet-explorer-language-settings Hopefully this will do it for you. You may also need to do a IE cookie purge as well to get it to take.
  8. Andela, Please ask your question in your native language. The translated to English conversation is useless in regards to allowing us to understand your needs.
  9. Here is a existing thread regarding Merchant Outbox issues. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Merchants/Merchant-Outbox-keeps-initializing/m-p/1507571/highlight/true#M22405
  10. Aiden, Good for you. The Wounded Warriors Project is a worthy one indeed. Step One: Contact The Wounded Warriors Project http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ first! Call them at their local office but better yet email them at their Fund Raiser link page http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/contact-us/fundraiser-email.aspx and include a synopsis of your ideas and how you plan to execute them via the Second Life Community and your presence here in it. You will need their support and acknowledgement to continue. This is required in order to use their name, brand and any and all logos. You should also register with TWW Project as a Fund Raiser and get a copy of all their regulations and reporting requirements. Step Two: You need to be an authorized fundraiser with means to prove your legitimacy to those you would collect Lindens from for conversion to dollars and donation to TWW Project. You also need to become/create a registered 501.c(3) Charitable Organization in order to do this legally. http://www.irs.gov/charities/charitable/ Note: Don't be afraid of the IRS, this is easy to do and will keep you out of trouble income wise. Setting up a charity checking account is easy and you'll need this not only for you to keep the collected monies separate but also for the Bank account information for the Registered SecondLife Avatar Account authorized to accept payments/donations on behalf of the charity. [Your Legal Name of course will be on the bank account] - Be prepared to offer this tax status information on request or better yet, make it publicly available as a part of the process where you provide the Kiosks for businesses and associations to collect donations at on your charity's behalf. Step Three: Once you have the endorsement and tax status, you need to find a legitimate scripter/builder to assist you with your collection Kiosks builds and TWW Project logo branded goodies to either sell or give away at donation time. Look for the creator of the ACS - Relay for Life Kiosks as a reputable source of certified objects for the purposes of fund raising in SecondLife. The registration system these use allows us to make donations with 100% confidence that this is a qualified Donation Kiosk and charity. Step Four: Get a proper parcel set up focusing on the charity with the approval and blessing of TWW Project board of Directors. Then go door to door / club to club with your goals in mind and start making a difference. [Note: Yes, a % of the donations received can go towards the upkeep of the Charity's in-world presence, but if I were you, I'd make my personal donation equal to or more than the cost of the tiers to maintain the parcel for the charity.] Good Luck! {Note: I do accounting and office support support for several Charitable Organizations in RL} P.S. If you are thinking along the lines of hosting a single event, converting the lindens collected and then donating the proceeds to TWW Project, I still recommend all the above steps. Why? If you are going to go through this effort to do it right, why not do it continuously afterwards. IM me when you are all set up. I'll donate.
  11. Sasaha, I'm sorry you are having issues with griefers. That said, Yes, filling a report is fine but is not the fastest way to deal with these types of "idiots". Please take the following steps. As a parcel owner You have control of your parcel. You do not need to own the Region to do these things. If you are leasing the parcel from Linden Lab then make sure you have secured it properly. You can 1) Set the options that affect your parcel [No Damage] is best. 2) You may ban specific avatar's from your parcel. 3) You may create a Group and deed your land to it to allow you and your friends to enjoy it griefer free by limiting who can access the parcel, who can create objects on it and who's objects can enter onto it. Details can be found here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Managing-land/ta-p/700113 Additionally If you are leasing the mainland parcel and someone else owns it, and that person is not helping you - Leave! Rent/Lease elsewhere where the actual land owner is responsive to your needs. Many of us lease out parcels on Private Estates we own. On our parcels, you will have all the rights and abilities outlined above.
  12. Tasha, Step 1 - Clean SL Viewer installation. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life/ta-p/1375231 If using a 3rd party viewer - possible steps to take are in this post.. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Inventory/HELP-i-lost-about-3-000-items-in-my-inventory-after-clearing/qaq-p/1530265 In all cases, do a login into a quiet region until your inventory information is rebuilt.
  13. Eaglewing Foxtrot, OK- 1st, if you purchased Lindens from a website and it was not the LindeX [ https://secondlife.com/my/lindex/buy.php ] page accessed by your SecondLife login then you gave your credit card information to a 3rd party. Since this is real-world theft, You need to: 1) Call your Credit Card company and report this theft to their fraud department. 2) If your Credit Card is backed up by VISA or MasterCard you have other options as well and must use their fraud reporting options as well. In may cases your limited in the exposure of a fraudulent activity against your credit card. 3) If you gave any real information to this 3rd party or parties, you also need to cancel your Credit Card / Debit Card ASAP thru the issuer, get a new one and change all account passwords. 4) You need to do all these steps 1st before calling the police as Mainstream Logo - Backed credit cards have provisions for managing these kind of thefts and local municipalities are usually not interested is small $ thefts via websites. 2nd, Linden Lab is in no way responsible for your decision to buy Lindens for use in SecondLife from a 3rd party website. If you used a Kiosk located in SecondLife to find and make this purchase, then you need to do the above steps 1st and also send LL the information regarding the location of the Kiosk per their Abuse & Fraud instructions. If you made this purchase on your own from a website found on the internet, then Linden Lab is not the party you need to be dealing with. Your credit card company is. Since you found [internet or router] "logs" with suspicious activity originating from China, then SecondLife was not the medium by which you were defrauded. I hope this helps.
  14. Wounded, Some additional issues to look at: 1) Did you change the group title you are wearing before the start of the crashes? There is still an issue where group titles become corrupted and the effect is to "Crash" or "Prevent" successful login the next time you try. Always be sure to a) have no group titles on from groups you don't control when you log ~ or ~ b) Have only a group title on that you created without any unusual characters in it. If you think the Group Title tag is the issue, you need to log in with an ALT that has Group Officer permission to set the group title back to a all normal character value. If the group is not yours, you can always contact the group owner and ask if any others are experiencing this issue and ask them to reset the group tags. - [This ended up being my solution after 8 days where LL couldn't do anything for me even though a Linden helped me discover that this was the issue.] 2) Try logging in using a Text Only Viewer like METABolt or Radegast to log your main AV on.. If successful, select the no group option and remove any unneeded objects, logout and try the full SL client again. http://radegast.org/wp/ http://www.metabolt.net/ 3) Log onto your Main Av account on the SecondLife website and confirm that it is accessible there and file a support ticket as well.
  15. Hi Tempest, Haven't you heard? Grey is the new Black! OK - Graying when you change skins & TP to other regions with different lighting options. Possible causes are: 1) You have been gifted a Face or Body light that has been "borked" with, to bring out the grey with a grey light tone as the illumination source. Remove all face light or body light objects. Please note that face & body lights also come in several nice-to-have utility gadgets such as the Mysti-tool Implant Object. 2) Read about the Avatar Imposter settings below... http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Setting-your-preferences/ta-p/700131 3) You didn't mentioned what your Graphics Settings are, so try looking at yourself in the default settings at the next option above or below your current setting: 4) It sounds like you are suffering from Shading Darkness. Your graphics card may have a poor implementation of atmospheric Shading/Rendering and this may be an option that you need to turn off. Go / Preferences / Graphics / Custom / set Atmospheric Shaders off! 5) Be sure to have the latest Graphics Software/Drivers installed for your PC. Hope this helps....
  16. Azane, This is a known texture display issue in SecondLife with several open Trouble Tickets & JIRA threads & Rants active for each identified problem cause. [not listed here] What you can do now: 1) Clear your Group Cache from the Advanced Menu [Ctrl-Alt-D] and your own Texture Cache. 2) Make sure you have a excellent network connection to your router [wired over wireless preferred] 3) Make sure you have the latest Video Graphics Drivers installed. 4) Make sure your Anti-Virus / Firewall solution is not scanning each and every HTML fetch [add an exemption for SecondLife programs] 5) Clean your glasses [just kidding!] 6) Make sure you are using a current SL Viewer. 7) Follow Cinn's suggestion as well! We're all waiting patiently for the texture rendering to become perfect.....100% of the time.
  17. Axel, It is possible to lease 1/4 [16384 sqm] a Full Region and have to put up with that pesky 3750 prim allowance that usually comes with it or you may lease 1/16 [4096 sqm] of a Full Region and get that perfect 937 prim allowance you seek. These options are available all over SecondLife. [--> Insert shameless Plug for my Islands here <--] However I'm guessing you want to "pay by the prim" in order to get a huge plot of land to have that next RAVE [of 20+ avatars] of yours without paying that darn silly "price per prim" thing so many of us land owners set our parcel rates at. You're in the classic question zone....[cues the TZ music with the distinct SL Jingle overtones] Hmmm we could set a negative or fractional Prim Bonus value of 0.25 but then 11250 prims of the 15000 prim allowance would just be thrown away off the edge of the Region and we, the Region Owners would be saddled with the $295.00 USD monthly charge for less prims [3750] to use and/or lease out, This would give you the magic number you seek. 937 prims per 1/4 of a Full Region however. Since a Full Region costs $295.00 USD per month, and you want 1/4 of one for your own reasons, expect to pay 1/4 of that price plus a bit of overhead for [cue the evil agenda music now] profit for the region owner. Making a long answer short..... No you can't. However, all is not lost. If you can plan that party or sailing event for more that 20 avatars to fit in a single 4096 sqm parcel, then lease one of those on a Full Region Estate where the Region Owner will help you by tuning the Region for your event proactively. I've helped club owners throw successful 65 avatar events with some sleight of hand real time management of the region before and during the event. There are others out there that will also help you as well. If you really need 1/4 of a Full Region for space reasons, then you need to pay the piper.
  18. Hello BlackBeautii, Reading your question carefully I see you are asking (error message) a question, specifically "Why can't [you] login?" Tis the bane of our second existence that (error message) will always give you an enigmatic reason for this, sometimes so simple in its explanation and content that we are shocked into inaction, thus your lament here in the Answers Group. I highly recommend that you not berate (error message) publicly as she/he/it gets testy from time to time and will change the reason for your failure to achieve access to your Second Life as if possessed by the deity Loki. In fact, I'd post (error message)s comments to you here in the Answer Forum with the hope that the apostles of SL will be able to grant you illumination and enlightenment as to the hidden meaning of the wisdom of (error message)s words. Mea Culpa.
  19. Hello Britt, Lets start with an assumption that you have downloaded and installed the SecondLife viewer from the website shall we? You have probably noticed that there are a number of processes running on your PC named SLPlugin.exe each of varying sizes. These are related to various enabled functions of your Main Viewer Session such as: 1) Support to display the Web-based information [Destinations, Events, Status Notices] on the Login Screen 2) Support for Media related Services 3) Support for Voice Services - which also needs SLVoice.exe 4) Support for possibly other less well known services. You can control the memory utilized by your SL Session [and the number of SLPlugin.exe threads spawned] by enabling or disabling these services in the Me / Preferences / Sound & Media window. In the case of SLVoice, you should have been asked by your PC's firewall software to allow or disallow SLVoice.exe access to the internet via it's known ports. Beyond the above, I wouldn't recommend actively blocking these processes as your SL Session may become unstable or otherwise unusable. I hope this helps answer your question a bit. Addendum: At one time I thought the SLPlugin.exe architecture was a way for the SL Viewer to share commonly used services across multiple SL Sessions in order to save on the use of memory on our PC's. Nope, doesn't seem to work that way! You get the same set & number of additional SLPlugin.exe processes for each additional Session you start
  20. Mika, Yes & Kind of - OK here are the specifics. 1) If you are the owner of the region, you can use the SL Region InfoHub option to pinpoint a landing point other than in the Default Center of the Region. People using the [Region Name] login option should appear in the InfoHub location. 2) If you are leasing the Region and have it allocated to a single large parcel then: To change the default landing point on a region: Go to the “About Land” menu from inside your viewer. Click on the “Options” tab. Change the “Teleport Routing” to your new landing point, and click on “Set.” Check that it works by teleporting in to your region by using the Region Login by Name option of your viewer, Hope this helps!
  21. Stacy, Now that you have the why,, here are the possible corrections. 1) Please get the latest drivers for the graphics drivers in/on your PC. The common card links are below [Thanks go to to my daughter for this information]: NVIDIA http://www.nvidia.com/Download/indexsg.aspx?lang=en-us AMD/ATI http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx INTEL HD http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Deskto... Also, make sure if you have a "on the mother board" graphics chip set, that you have the latest hardware and chip set updates from your PC Manufacturer's Support Web Site. DELL http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriversHome/ HP http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html ALIENWare http://support.alienware.com/Support_Pages/Restricted_Pages/driver_downloads.aspx GATEWAY http://support.gateway.com/us/en/product/default.aspx ASUS http://support.asus.com/ServiceHome.aspx?SLanguage=en Toshiba http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Product%20Support Leveno http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page IBM http://www.ibm.com/support/in/en/ Apple http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2305 Hope this helps...

  23. Try "Touch Detector" as a keyword in the Marketplace. There are several very low priced options there. There may be public domain scripts available that you can place in an transparent circular object and attach it to your chest. However I think the latter option will be a bit daunting to a newbie. If you want the basics, the following script with subtle modifications will allow your boobies to issue a pre-defined comment from a NC. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Touch_A_Quote Have fun.
  24. Miagirl, All the previous answers are correct. If you are looking for peace & quiet in order to work on a project,do this: I maintain a build platform that I don't invite others to and use the "Busy" setting & message to let folks know I'm not shunning them, per se, just really busy on a project. If you are avoiding others actively, unfortunately the ALT method is best. Then of course you also need to not hang around your normal haunts when incognito or "the jig will be up" when your original Avatar's friends show up to see where you are. You do have options to limit the look of your public profile on the SL website, but once you have friends, they can see your status there.
  25. Roxy, Wanting to be beautiful and having natural looking hair is always a challenge in SecondLife. My fave places for Hair are Damselfly & Truth. There are many many other wonderful hair emporiums as well. Thoughts: When walking normally using a good AO the hair from these designers will flow so nicely to those looking at you. It's also important to avail yourself of the sizing options included on higher end hair products. You can use the "All Prims" options to get the hair 95% there. I also use the "This Prim" option to fine tune the individual hair prim textures that may look a bit off place after resizing using the "All Prims" option. Once my hair is perfect I'll delete the scripts in my hair to prevent accidental selection and changes that can occur and too lessen my impact on the regions I visit. BTW - Always make a copy of your hair object/color into a folder named "Fitted & Script Free" before modifying it. This way if you change your shape in the future, you can make a new fitted version of your hair with the new shape. Long hair physics are interesting when on pose ball sets. The longer the hair, the more likely you will see it poking through your body on poses where your head is thrown back. As a Model, I've collected my hair color and styles in all possible lengths and waviness. This way, when needing to pose for pictures, I can pick a style & length that does not protrude through my body. Unfortunately, our bodies do not offer resistance to hair textures. Therefore, designers can't accurately script the physics reactions for that. Note: Quality hair is a blessing in SL and is rarely free with the exceptions of a merchant offering a free or L$1 single color package as a loss leader and/or a Demo package so you can see if the style works for your face shape. I recommend always getting the demos and trying them on for size before spending your hard earned Lindens. Use the Marketplace to look for eyes and larger hair merchants. There are wonderful free and affordable custom eyes available there.
