Lindens are obviously in a panic about this I contacted live help a couple of nights ago and asked for pathfinding to be turned off in the regions where I own land...quite remarkably I was offered an island without paying the 1000 dollar set up fee...wish I could afford the monthly fee for an island .... It was also suggested I use the sl viewer instead of firestorm ...didnt make any difference and to set the viewer distance to 32...odd it only seems to go down to 64 on my version... but then again if Im building with a 64 m prim I at least want to be able to see the other side of it to build with in... In any event I cant get into sl while this fiasco goes on...not without paying my ISP a very large amount for going over my gb allowance. Of course even though I can only use sl for a limited amount of time Im sure oskar linden wont be recommending refunds on both tiers AND premium payments....

IT DOES HAVE AN EFFECT BELIEVE ME ...IVE COMPARED READINGS IN REGIONS WHERE PATHFINDING IS ON AND OFF...AND THE DIFFERENCE IS CONSIDERABLE. WHY DONT YOU TRY DOWNLOADING A USAGE METER AND TEST IT YOURSELF.. MAKE NO APOLOGIES FOR BLOCK CAPS. I CANT GET INTO SL BUT IM STILL PAYING MY TIER AND PREMIUM ACCOUNT AND BASICALLY IM FURIOUS.

All I know is that my gf went to umpteen regions where we own land last night none of em is magnum...Im sure she didnt go out of her way to orient herself in any particular direction...in every one her usage meter went mad...then she went to a region where its turned off...the difference speaks for itself. And even if the info is right who wants to spend their time in sl in specific parts of a region facing a certain way...ridiculous nothing its BLOODY LUDICROUS

I want Lindens to shut off pathfinder across the grid...its clearly a major nuisance.... why should the option to shut down be available to some but not others... SIMPLE

Its time someone at Lindens got their finger out started looking at the issues adversely affecting their clients and giving some infomration and actually BE SEEN to be doing something other than promoting other social networking sites and using them to dribble out info people want to see...

Do you know how ridiculous your advice sounds ?? Read it back...stand in this region, face that direction.... we need action from lindens now ... I cant get into sl for the rest of the month..why should I pay a full months tier or a full months premium payment for that ...what annoys me is that this iss ue is of vital importance to users whether their usage is limited or not and we arent getting any info at all. By the way if this thread slides from the top I'll be bumping it till we get some much needed action...

And yet the talk in the firestorm group at least was that Lindens wont bother ... What Im interested in now is whats in all those extrea megs being thrown at us. By the way you might enjoy wandering round sl using a draw distance of 32 m...what pleasure is there to be had in the amazing landscapes and builds in sl...viewer designers might as well just restrict the draw distance and the rest of us may as well stand in a 32 m hollowed out cube... basically the politest word I can think of for this is crap....

Turn pathfinding off NOW until it works. My GB usage has been pushed to the limit by this rubbish which is absolutely no use to this user. Lag has also been apalling since it was introduced. Lindens keep introducing this rubbish and doing nothing to rectify the stability issues and financial issues which are slowly turning the entire map yellow. As for me, Im now trying to work out how many minutes a day i can now spend in sl....My ISP generously increased my allowance - at a price of course...but this month my usage is done for if I wandered into sl and stayed for any length of time the worst case scenario is that I would be paying my isp an extra £200 for the usage over my allowance ! Needless to say I doubt whether linden labs would be prepared to foot this bill even though this problem is THEIR fault !! If lindens dont do something to rectify this soon there wont be any point me paying my tier (or that matter monthly premium account payment) for the decreasing amount of time I can come into sl. You should see the megabytes piling on on a broadband usage meter. My usage hasnt changed but since pathfinding was introducing my daily usage has soared from 1- 2 gb to 8- 10 !! As usual the upper echelon users have the right to turn this off on their islands - not so those of us who simply own bits of mainland... The feature is an absolute disaster as far as Im concerned and need to be laid to rest now.,...

pATHFINDING IS A DISASTER FOR USER ON LIMITED GB ALLOWANCES FROM THEIR ispS ..CHECK THE jiras. The worst thing thats been introduced in sl .....

Lol its no wonder Lindens can get away with lumbering us with huge tiers...theyre probably funding constuction of a space rocket to escape Earth and its untimely doom.......

Im surpised you take or recommend pills...Id have thought one read of the statutory leaflet in any box would put you off....after all you believe some voyage to the bottom of the sea episode scenario about the world being flooded....

What in San francisco ? Pay me the costs and Im there.... you might find it pricey as I live in the UK though alternatively if you fancy financing a holiday for me in Llanddudno or cornwall....bring it on................

Well its quite simple if the west side of the USA appears to be sinking move everyone over to the east side and get them to jump in unison.... Make sure the statue of liberty is kitted out with a verry large pair of wellington boots first though

I say stop the worrying about near earth objects at and put a rocket powered table tennis bat the size of australia in orbit ...as the asteroid approaches get the pilot ( the chinese are very good at table tennis) to fire the rockets and give it a good volley.... alternatively get a very strong series of fishing lines which you can plunge into the surface of the asteroid and attach it to the moon...then go mine out all the metals at your leisure.... some people have no imagination

They havent tried everything at all because they steadfastly refuse to take the one step that might just reinvigorate interest in sl and thats to make it cheaper...its not rocket science.... but in my book the fact that lindens refused to paticipated in the recent birthday celebrations, the lack of news coming from lindens...points to something going on behind the scenes......and being a born pessimist I dont see it as anything good. Reduce tiers reduce the cost of a premium account, give bonuses to long term customers - increase stipends and free land allowances. Make customers feel 'valued'

It'll never hit we've been around to long dont worry about it... as one triceratops said to another......

I was suggesting new additions to the build menu years ago ...simple stuff that might reinvigorate the stagnant building mechansims available inworld - its a pity those few who went on about meshes so vociferously didnt push for something inworld instead of taking the onus away from lindens who can simply say go off and learn to use some software out there - even though it might be complex, or expensive and even though it cant be used to build inworld...why should they care ? Not only has mesh given Linden labs the excuse to forget all about the inworld builder but it earns them extra revenus too. All that talk about new inworld building features while mesh was going through beta has so far proved false. Lindens couldnt even give use a decent size increase in prims rather than doing the sensible thing and pushing prim size up to 100 metres.....

Seems like a lot of work to do very little - how about some much needed updating in the very stagnant inworld building menu, a few new and useful building tecniques there to play with would be infinitely more appreciated......

Hmmm I thought the title meant Rodvik and co had made a quick getaway for Brazil or something.....

I wonder if people would still griedf if they had to pay to get into sl...and pay for alt accounts to. ? Personally as a long term sl user I think everyone should be paying a premium regardless... However if everyone were paying for both their original avy ( and a reduced amount for each alt) Lindens would then be expected in my book to reduced both premium fees and tiers AND positively stimulate the land market in the process....
