  1. I don't know about your first photo issue (I can't see the snapshot), but for the second one... I have experienced it myself a while ago. Unfortunately, it's very likely that your graphics card can't handle ultra graphics and shadows, although the viewer allows you to enable it. I managed to fix it by updating the drivers and changing the graphics card settings in the PC (I had a high-end, but old Nvidia). It worked for a while, then it started restarting my PC out of the blue and, on the first day of 2013, it died completely. So my suggestion is to be up to date with the drivers all the time and don't force your card with ultra and shadows unless you really must. Intel 4000 is a decent graphics card for nornal use, but SL has a bad habit of being more demanding, graphics wise, than most games.
  2. It's in the Develop menu/ Rendering / Render Attached Lights (on the bottom part of the menu). Close to Render Attached Particles, which can also be unchecked for a better and more lag-free sl )
  3. You got a point there, because white background and no shadows give you more freedom for editing a photo. And on the facelight thing... my slife got a lot better when i discovered that i can uncheck the "render attached lights" feature
  4. oh... so people still use facelights... you did great work witht that photo, but wouldn't it have been easier to do shadows in SL than recreate them in PS all over? (just asking, to me it saves hours when editing)
  5. Just to check: were scripts enabled on the parcel you and your friend tried adjusting the feet?
  6. Also, you should use a viewer that allows multiple layers, such as Firestorm or the SL viewer. With Phoenix and other older viewer, you do not have the option to wear multiple alphas.
  7. Just choose "Add" instead of "Wear". That should do the trick for mesh clothing and also for alphas. The basic attachment point for mesh is the right hand. Sometimes, designers forget to attach their mesh to the right spot and sometimes the SL glitches and attachment points return to default. So adding items instead of wearing is the way to go to avoid ending up half naked
  8. I made some Gimp tutorials a while ago, I hope they can help you. Also, if there's anything else you need to know, please let me know http://salamanderslfashion.wordpress.com//?s=gimp&search=Go
  9. Noooo, don't give up high res photos because of the grid lines! There are easy way to fix them and on low res photos will look jaggy and they will not look good If you're using Photoshop, there's a great tutorial by Ely Elide on Youtube about removing the lines: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JnzYTHaCAw. I made one for Gimp users: http://salamanderslfashion.wordpress.com/2012/11/06/gimp-tutorial-the-basics/. I hope this helps
