  1. If these are what you are looking for - you're probably going to need a custom builder. And - for them to not be hollow...I can't say that would be cheap. Especially if you want it made out of mesh. Is this for a roleplay sim or something? Have you checked out other Boston themed areas in SL to see who made their buildings? I'm still early in my mesh game or I'd offer to help. Hollow buildings, of course, are something quick - but to have the interior rooms...that's another story. Good luck, though.
  2. Arielle - are you looking for a static figure? Or something that will follow you around SL?
  3. Hmm...I'll look into that! I did find a building contest group - and it actually looks like fun - but mostly based on primitives and I'm looking for some mesh competition. It's nearly exactly what I was thinking of - but largely based on SL or sculpted building blocks.
  4. Testing the waters to see if there is any interest (because this isn't fun, alone) - but I was thinking of creating a group that gives out weekly or monthly build challenges. When the deadline hits, we do a show and tell either in person or by rezzing our creations on group land. I've been learning Blender - and have zero motivation to create at the moment...but give me a challenge? Then I'm in! Would stick to non-clothing items (although jewelry night be fun) but some ideas I had were: a child's toy, a plate of food, something you own IRL (along with a photo of the thing), the facade of a historic building, etc.. I have some extra space on my land for setting up a group area, and possibly a shop area for people to sell what they've made. Thoughts? Is this something that would interest anyone else?
  5. OP - can you post links to photos of buildings that you are specifically looking for? That would help.
  6. I have 3 'barns' open for rental at a small sky shopping area. Good for non-moving breedables, self-promoted gacha shop, or other shopping. This is an allowable sublet by the estate owners. All renters must abide by the estate rules. 250 prim for 250L per week, payable by $L, weekly Contact Cilene Inglewood, in world via IM (messages go to email) See my profile pick for location I use this area to sell my breedables and to have a physical location for my Marketplace shop
  7. Hi Eravo - I sent you an IM and friend request, in world so that I can give you some points there
  8. Well - the important thing is thatyou at least consider it - since so many people do not tip at all. Being someone that owned their own venue and knows the live music 'scene' fairly well - I can at least give you advice on this: First - usually (not always) the artist performing is paid by the venue to perform. Sometimes they pay for tips. It's not horrible to ask someone (preferrably the host) if they are paying the artist. If they are paying the artist, I usually tip the venue more than I tip the artist. What that amount is - is up to you. I think artists and venues alike know that not everyone can afford to bring money into SL. Gina Stella always tells the story of the 17L tip...that she figured that was all anyone had to give her (since it was such an odd amount) - and she was OK with it. We call it the love tip now Not all hosts accept tips (like at Key West) - although if you want to tip them...that's up to you...but if you don't see a tip jar...then that means you are not obliged to tip (they most like earn an hourly wage/salary).For me...someone that DOES bring a great deal of money into SL...I will tip the venue around 100L and the artist, the same. Hosts, depending on if they greet me...if they are chatty, etc. in local...I'll go for around 50L. Sometimes we have to put our own value on it...venues usually don't make money - because tips to the house don't generally pay for their artists (hence why a lot have shops or other businesses on the land, etc.). So...they appreciate what you are willing to give.
  9. ::takes a deep breath:: OK - this helps a lot...it probably show what type of learner I am lol. Thank you very much for your efforts, Rolig - I great appreciate your help
  10. Thank you for replying, Rolig - but honestly I think my head just imploded. I need to think this through with an example - please bear with me... Let's say I create a mesh hard cover book that will lay on a surface, front cover up. Here is what I *think* I should do (as a super beginner): 1- create a seam for just the outside cover. 2- create a seam for the cover's edges and the inside bit that won't really be seen (guessing it would be ok for this to be one 'island' because these parts won't be as seen as other parts). 3- create a seam for the page edges...in total creating 3 'islands' on the UV map that I generate via unwrapping. 4- assign a material to the cover, the cover edges, and the pages. 5- When I am creating a texture for the book - I can use the UV map to paint the texture on the appropriate parts. 6- When I bring the book into SL as a mesh, I can then use the UV map I painted on...and apply it to the mesh. Am I understanding or should I just give up? I feel like I need one-on-one help
  11. Christhiana - I don't mean to hijack this forum post - but your answer to B4rry hopefully will help me as well. I haven't even uploaded my first mesh to SL - I'm still in that "nervous learner" stage where all the notes I took and practices I did aren't helping me as much as I thought they would... Anyways...if I make a mesh object and plan on using the UV Map to texturize - I still only need to assign one material to the object? This confuses me...because when I think of the UV map - I think of it as a means to texture the way I wish. For example, I've made a very simple board with a beveled edges and plan to put a painted texture on the front-facing surface...and leave the rest with another texture (wood). Should I be assigning more than one material? This confuses me so much...I can feel my blood pressure rising lol. In my simple brain, I thought that using the UV map as a canvas to paint on...then putting that on the mesh in world...would make it look how I planned it to look. ::sends smoke signals::
  12. Does anyone have a video tutorial recommendation on YouTube, etc. for how to make an AO map for Blender mesh? I'm taking a class Wednesday at Builder's Brewery...but want to be prepared and play around first. I can't seem to find any SL specific videos that give best settings. Thanks xx
  13. Is there such a script that, when placed into an object and ran...will say (in local chat) the items contained in the object? I'm trying to find a simple way to catalog my gacha items...AND I HAVE A LOT -.- I figured there much be such a thing...did a search but haven't found it yet. Any help/pointing in the right direction would be helpful. Thanks!
  14. That IS a fantastic video...it helps a lot. Thanks, again, Michael
  15. I actually have a list of shortcuts and am learning them - I'm thining of putting them on a board to make it easier...so I don't have to keep looking at my notes. But - I am getting the hang of them. I DO watch a lot of speed creations - whether or not they have anything to do with SL. I'm DEFINITELY my worst enemy...it's my "thing" to over learn something so much by writing notes, watching tutorials...but never actually COMPLETE anything. I get scared - not sure why. I know I could be really good at this - because there are so many things that I want personally in SL but no one creates...and that's a good thing! That alone should push me...but I DO get scared. What a silly thing!!
  16. I'm slowly learning the basics of Blender - mostly how to DO things...but not quite to the point where I'm actually building anything. But, when I get to that point - I'm curious about the creative process. It seems like you need to have an idea of what you want to make...how do the creators here start that process? Do you sketch out the idea and figure out which prims you'll need to use? Do you have a prim/shape you always start out with? Just wondering how all of YOU get started...how you plan so that you make the most of your time in Blender. Thanks x
  17. Athenais - I'm new to Blender/Mesh, as well - like...the last day (LOL) and to me...the first picture is either showing a bounding box or you've created a box around the bowl...and that's what it's uploading. I'm guessing that when you upload...and look into the 'box' - you see your bowl at the bottom? Looks like you need to delete the box around it. If you use the select vertices ...then B to select the edges...delete...you should be able to get rid of it. Are you using the default exporter for Blender or did you buy the plug in? I've heard the default exporter for collada is complete rubbish...and that to get proper export into SL, you have to use Avastar from the JASS Shop in world. It costs about $20-$30 either in world or via paypal. I'm sure if you google it, you'll find the shop on the net. I don't know...that's just what I see off the top...from being someone who is about in the same place you are. Have you taken any classes at Builder's Brewery? That would help a lot...
  18. Looking for creators that would like to produce a gacha for with a Christmas theme...mostly revolving around ice skating, outdoor Christmas activities (like cutting down a Christmas tree). Would *really* like to find a creator of ice skating shoes for children avis, men and women (which includes animates the wearer). Not looking for a cut of profits...just cute designs that fit with the theme of my event that you will place on the land. Event starts Nov 27 - the day after Christmas...giving you 2 weeks to design. Children item creators very welcomed! Family items are also very welcomed. Please contact me inworld or here (Cilene Inglewood). Thank you!
  19. Seeking someone to make mesh red and white/pink pointsettias (full perm) for me...see photo. Would like the red just as pictured below - with the green 'foil' bottom...and a white/pink pointsettia with a red foil bottom. I haven't found an example I like on MP or in-world that I've liked that has been full perm. Please contact me here, so that I do not miss the message...and I will get in touch with you in-world. I will need this in the next 2-weeks (before Thanksgiving). May also be seeking someone to make a realistic copy only 'tree stump' as well - something that looks as if it's been chopped down (a pine tree); textured, of course...so a narrow stump - think "Christmas tree" :) If you want to try to catch me, in world - I'm Cilene Inglewood ("Janett"). Thank you!
  20. I want to create something where - when I touch it - it begins to cycle through a short series of textures (let's say 2 or 3 textures) over a longer period of time (perhaps 4 hours). But, I would want the cycle to stop after the last texture has been displayed...and not start again until I (or someone else) touches it. I've found a texture changing script with a timer but I'm not sure how to make the time STOP again until I touch it. Thank you :)
  21. Looking for someone that can work with me on a scripted gadget related to breedable horses. Can go over details/idea in person. Must speak English or have a good grasp of the language. Being familiar with breedable horses, how they are categorized, would be helpful. Will require working with breedable company to obtain key to 'decode' the stats of the horse/bundle (or I can do that - but you will need to grasp that there is a code and how to incorporate it into the gadget). Will need full perms of the script when complete so that it can be sold. General idea: - scripted object that works a lot like a vendor or hud (controlling another object - a depository) - would give the user multiple sorting choices (if even possible) - would rezz an object or max number of objects based on the user's selection/command Not sure if the idea is possible - or would be 'worth it' after making the gadget function. Would first need your help to determine that. Would be willing to pay for your time (at least up until a point) trying to figure it out. Contact (Janett) Cilene Inglewood in world via notecard if I'm offline. Usually inworld (weekdays) after 2:30 PM SLT and anytime on the weekends. If you have a standard rate/hour - please include that in the notecard - along with any other helpful details. Keep in mind rates for full perm scripting. Do not reply to this post - I may not check back. Contact me inworld only.
