  1. I appreciate the feedback guys. I think that I sent a request for help to the Phoenix Wintel team but I am not sure. I got an email that said something about logging into something that I didn't recognize. To be honest, I am a little afraid to mess around too much with drivers for fear of messing up my brand new laptop. Sigh... I really do appreciate you both for trying to assist me though. I am just bummed that I have a sim that I can not seem to get to. I guess that this may end up being one way to save a buck... Regards!!
  2. Hmmm. I hate to be dense. I went to: Control Panel >Appearance and Personalization > Display > Screen Resolution and selected "Advanced Settings" I clicked around the tabs: Adapter, Monitor, Troubleshoot, & Color Management, I looked around the Adapter tab and clicked on properties but do not see anything about "OpenGL rather than DirectX"
  3. I just tried viewer 2 and got the same error message. It is really looking like SL doesn't like my drivers or does not like the Radeon HD 6770M graphics card. The troubleing thing is that I am not really technical and I am not sure how to proceed to get help other than this post on the forum. :-(
  4. I have not tried Viewer 2. I did try Phoenix and Impudence. This thing is brand new with lots of Ram etc I am running windows 7 premium. I guess I could try that. I have not really liked having the deafult SL viewer in the past - but if I have not choice then that may be what I have to do.
  5. Greetings, I had a laptop crash. The new one that they replaced it with has a different graphics card than what I had before. Now when I tried to load and run Phoenix I got an error that said that I needed to load the latest drivers, and Phoenix shut down. The only card available on this set is a: Radeon HD 6770M. Am I just not going to be able to get into second life any more or is there something I can do? Please advise Regards,Beth
  6. My laptop blew up and HP is replacing it. The old set had a Navidia G force graphics card that worked fine. The new one will have a 2GB GDDR5 Radeon HD 6490M Graphics card. I know that SL can be pretty picky with graphics cards. This Radeon card is the only one that they have apparently. Am I hosed here? Regards, Beth Thanks for the great feed back guys. If I am understanding properly, it sounds like the 2GB GDDR5 Radeon HD 6490M Graphics card may work but probably not as well as I would like. Also - to be clear, HP is replacing my lap top not just the card. I spent most of a year having it repeatedly going back to the depot for repair. After 4 trips they are giving me a new set.. Anyway - I am used to maxed out settings so I guess that I will just have to see what I can see with this new laptop. The frustrating thing is one of the key drivers of my orginal purchase was playing well in SL. I tried to get Nvidia this time but apparently the Pavilion DV7t Quad doesn't offer that any more. http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Category&v1=High+performance&series_name=dv7tqe_series&jumpid=in_R329_prodexp/hhoslp/psg/notebooks/High_performance/dv7tqe_series I recall someone that I know getting a brand new set with the wrong card and it really did some nutty stuff in SL. Was really unusable. Thanks again for your comments. Regards, Beth
