  1. First off let me say that all the SL merchants I have dealt with so far are wonderfully helpful people and a credit to our community, but I do have one pet peeve that makes me see red everytime it happens..... nobody ever has enough free prims, but I always keep about 4 prims free in my home just for rezzing bought items to unpack them. Why oh why not just place your merchandise in a one prim box? I understand the cute sentimentally in delivering your items in a pretty shopping bag, or a box with a bow on it, but really, 32 prims? is that necessary? the cute gesture has now become an annoyance, I take my couch back into inventory, try to rezz my item,.. sitll not enough, take my bed into inventory, try to rezz item.. still not enough free prims... etc. etc. untill I decide stuff it, and have to resort to searching for a public sandbox to rezz one item containing shoes that are made of less prims than the package it came in. Please please pretty please SL merchants, save the pretty packaging for when items are purchased as a gift, and stick to a one prim box when items are purchased for one self. Anyway... thats my xmas wish :)
  2. I also dont get why those with surnames decide to use display names? Surely now that a surname has become a commodity it should be worn with pride, its a badge of honour, heehee. It adds a sense of identity and belonging, I always notice another Nightfire, and we always end up chatting It is also a way of indicating age to a certain extent, as certian surnames were made available at certain periods, if I'm not mistaken all Nightfires are all four years old, so with time, they will become rarer and rarer. SL does not have a leveling system and for that I am grateful, but surnames does kind off indirectly relate to a certain leveling system does it not? and at the end of the dya everyone loves bragging about their higher level, heehee
  3. I'm with you on the unreadable display names, I find it quite annoying. Surely a name is for recognition purposes, so why make it so hard to read it let alone recognize it? Oh and the ultimate in cool.... write your name upside down or back to front. Heehee I feel these people are just waaay to cool for the likes of me

Europe makes the switch on the 6th November Southern Hemisphere countries such as Australia switch on different dates, and in the opposite direction, since for them it is spring rather than fall. The USA/Europe difference could easily catch you out if you're planning to go to an event in SL Actually Southern Hemisphere countries dont use DST at all, so we wont be switching our clocks, and we will definately not be switching it in the opposite direction our time remains the same year round
  5. The Firestorm built in AO is very easy to setup and use, and most importantly, it does not add to your script count as it is being handled by the client, as opposed to the traditional attached AO's and HUD's
  6. I sense a few rebels without a clue. I've bought tons of stuff on the marketplace, the few (very few) times I've had delivery issues, the merchants helped me straight away without any argument. Sometimes the permissions displayed on marketplace does not match up with the actual permissions of the item when receive, those times the merchants always helped me by giving me the item with the correct permissions. I've had items that after months stopped working for no reason, those merchants supplied me with a new item, no issues at all. In fact, my faith in humanity has been restoredthanks to the kind and helpful merchants in SL, so I have no reason to even entertain the thought of this silly call to arms. Instead of an 'occupy' action, why dont you consider a 'walk out' rather. you say you've been here for many years and none of the crap has changed? yet you are still here? Oh, and Linden Dictatorship? please, it is called ownership, we are all just tennants here, you will do well to remember that if it was not for Linden, none of us would be here and none of this would have existed.
  7. Hi, I would love to join, but I've been to the SLRDA HQ at least 4 times and could not fine anyone there that could help me, there is an info board, but it does not seem to work as it does not give any notecards, I've signed up for the mailing list, joined the groups, sent notecards to the group owner and still I have no idea how to go about joining or even just trying out for a team. Is this active at all and if so, can someone please assist me as I am very keen to join and try it out.
  8. ok, so I have all this humble pie, anyone care for a slice? Damn V2's automatic updates ran last night, now it crashes everytime I launch it... grrrrr Hello Phoenix, hello Firestorm... welcome to my pc, I hopeyou enjoy your stay
  9. Yes, but has he thoughts within his head? That's all I want to know
  10. Am I getting this straight? You rezzed a zombie rezzer, then you rezzed another one, at which point someone brought to your attention that you are causing lag. So instead of being the bigger person, your repsonse was to rezz yet another zombie rezzer? I'm trying to differentiate who the troll is in this scenario.

I keep meaning to try it, I hear it's very stable, but I'm always too busy to experiment. To be honest, Its wonderful very clean UI, and the visuals are fantastic. It also seemed much faster than V2. And the more I think about it, I dont know why I stopped using it... hmmm. I think I will give it another try, the only reason I stopped using it is because I was in a rush, and I could find my LM's or outfits, lol
  12. Well there is also another issue with noobs, and that is V2's "basic mode" I accidently logged on with basic mode once, and it all became clear to me why most noobs act like total idiots. Lol, I was walking around in my own home like a noob climbing over things, walking into walls, not bieng able to find or do anything, lol it was madness. Couple that with the fact that most tutorials are not geared towards "Basic Mode" and that noobs are not aware of alternative viewers, you really cannot expect the poor souls to figure all this out on their own. Throw a language barrier into the mix and what you have is bedlam. Noobs walking all over one another, all asking the most basic questions, not understanding any answers given to them, and being perceived as griefers, when in fact it is just plain ignorance. that being said, I feel it is imperative that a.) something like orientation island is brought back, locking users in before they can pass a basic skills test, and b.) the creators of alternative viewers should spend a lot more time and resources on training for their own users, maybe even have orientation islands based on your viewer

Opensource Obscure wrote: Constructive feedback can instead lead to new features (sidebar tabs were not detacheable in V2.0, that happened later) and/or patches (as shown here), which again lead to noticeable improvements. I agree fully V2 is like broccoli, you may not like it, but its good for you. try it long enough and you will develop a taste for it, and soon with enough feedback form users and little improvements, before you know it you have broccoli with cheese sauce... hmmmmmm guuuud
  14. Peewee Musytari wrote: You answered your own question there. If you had the crappy laptop I had to work with not long ago, where the sidebar covered most of the screen when open & was not resizable, you might have a different opinion about it. oh, lol so its not the viewer thats bad, its us thats just poor heeheee
  15. wow! How big is your screen? lol my sidebar takes up almost the entire height of my screen and my resolution is set to something like 1400 X 900 Oh and I'm glad to hear that you like the sidebar too, heehee that makes two of us
  16. Void Singer wrote: ..... inability to multitask...... Heehee I suffer from the same inability, so that has never been an issue for me, I must mention that I tried Singularity viewer a week or so ago, I really loved it, if only it had a side bar
  17. Back in the day one had to make it through orientation island before being able to enter the main grid. The Lindens should bring that back. Not only will it assist new users in a positive and constructive way, but it will also cause griefers with their multitudes of ALts to reconsider if all that effort of going through orientation really is worth the hassle.
  18. Sometimes I feel like I am the only person that actually likes V2 and the sidebar. I honestly cannot fathom why all the hate for v2? As a software developer I understand that adopting a new interface is a challenge for users, that is why I took the time and forced myself to use V2 for at least 2 weeks, and after that I'm affraid I was hooked. I could not go back to other viewers, even Firestorm that is so close to V2, I still find frustrating since the sidebar is just not as good. When MS Office introduced the ribbon toolbar, it was met with great resistance, but now after having adopted this new interface, people find it hard to revert to the older Office interface. This to me is a sign of a good UI, one that takes some getting used to, but then becomes second nature after a few days.
  19. Alazarin Mondrian wrote: Dollquet, part of your [and many other avatars'] problems lie with the fact that SL avatar heights tend towards the unrealistically tall. The maximum height for male avatars would equate to 7 feet tall in RL! And, as you can already guess, alot of men in SL ramp up their height sliders to 100 followed by women who, not wanting to be left behind, play catch-up. The result being that SL is populated by giants, frankenbarbies and hulk wannabes. You get used to it after a while. I must confess I am a frakenbarbie myself..... * hangs her head in shame but for the very reasons you have mentioned, in RL it is very seldom that someone is taller than me, so to replicate this in SL I too have to be about 7 feet tall. (although I have never checked my Avy's height, so I have no idea)

  21. His name alone is enough to file an Abuse Report against him, as I too find it extremely offensive. Choosing a name like that is equal to promoting hate speech, and that is already against the TOS. Get your friends to file their own Abuse Report against him, the more the merrier. (oh, and I will jump on that bandwagon too, we don't need this in our SL)
  22. So many shorty's complain about the same issue. The problem does not lie with you, but how the other persons percieve you. Yes, you may state your true age, yes you may be short in RL, but if you are still being percieved as a child, it will put others off, cause that is how they see you. On the flip side, you may find a partner that does not have an issue with your look, but may still be aprehensive to be seen doing adult acts with you, in the fear of being reported for child play themselves. If you are dead set on being short, then take a closer look at your avy. Make sure that your proportions are correct. A fully grown male will have a smaller head in relation to the rest of his body as opposed to a child of similar size. An adult male's chest will also be larger in comparison to the rest of his body compared to a child of similar size. Get the proportions right, and the chances of you being mistaken for a child will be less.
  23. I will play devil's advocate here. I only allow Female Human Avatars in my club. Why? because I had a vision of what I wanted to create and what I wanted to achieve. I do discriminate, but I do so faily accross the board, robots, aliens males and furries are equally disrciminated against, heehee. It took me three weeks to build my club and get it the way I want it, countless more months and thousands of Lindens will be spent to promote it and to get the sort of clientelle that I desire. For you however it will take 2 seconds to change your avy to fit in with the rules, and will propably cost you nothing. So if you so badly desire to enter a sim where your avy is not allowed, why not put on your big boy pants, and prove that you're the bigger person by abiding by the rules the sim owners have put in place? How owners go about banning users are up to them, personally I don't often ban, in fact I have never had the need to ban someone. I politely state my rules and ask them to either adhere or leave, most leave, and personally it does not bother me one little bit, because just like I have the choice to enforce my rules, so too do they have the choice to leave because of it. These militant calls to arms to BAN!! whatever practices does not mesh with an individual user is a very narrow minded one sided stance to take, especially in a world like SL that affords one so much freedom, in so many forms
