  1. A few of the Premium features have also been made available to Concierge-level residents, such as the expanded group slots. Will Concierge-level accounts also get the ability to purchase a new account name? -R
  2. Lucky you... my biggest problem is that I can't get out.
  3. Looking to buy a Grandfathered Homestead. Contact Crap Mariner inworld.
  4. I think that Myf is hosting a showing of Repo Man on Monday night at The Kino Haus.
  5. I'm on the fence with this one. I'm in Houston, TX in an area that usually doesn't lose power and only the street and garage flood. I'm also responsible for... how many sims? (See how responsible I am?) Harvey being Harvey, I let folks know I was aware and had prepped. Kinda like back with Ike and Rita... no, I did not get trapped in the bugout c-f- of Rita. And, yes, I say folks. Or neighbors. I don't say renters. If things were the other way around, I'd hope I'd show the same understanding with such things. I know some folks dealt with the NYC hurricane, right now there's one know of without power from Irma. A grace period is good. I mean, it's good customer service, especially among friends. A few bucks here, a few bucks there. It'll be ok. Would be nice if they planned and prepaid and all, but when you're fighting over bottled water and peanut butter, first things first, right? I'm more concerned than they're okay than a few bucks. Or, if they went on vacation and forgot, enjoy. Relax. We'll deal with it when you're home and settled back in. Putting photos on Instagram? Cool. Or a "Wow, that happened? Okay, chill on share of tier for a while, focus on that, let me know when you're okay. We'll deal with it later." Only really gotten burned twice by it I think. One had a bad habit of not remembering when the first of the month was. So, yeah, that ended. And the other, he was kinda busy with dying of cancer. He did try to get word to me to just let it go. But... nah. (Let it go.)
  6. After disasters or terrorist attacks, there's usually a slew of "Pray for X" or "We are all X" things. Did a few searches in Marketplace and the blogs and Flickr, only found this so far: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Gift-Seaweed-Sonnet-Yellow-Rose-Rug/12596250 "This rug is meant to show friensdhip and well wishes to those in Texas going through the flooding and devastation of Hurricane Harvery." The sentiment is greatly appreciated.
  7. And this is why I'm reading Space City Weather, watching the weather radar, following the emergency management alerts, and filtering the flood control district feed instead of watching the ever-increasing buffoonery and opinion-pieces out there. Unless they're wearing white cotton tops, there's no sense to look at the babbling bimbettes getting rained on. Right now, SCW and the radar suggest lighter intermittent rain in my area for a while. I'll ping work and confirm I'm online, then go snap some photos while the tea steeps.
  8. Yes. Exactly. Rita evac as a major c-f-. People don't forget that mess. I live in an area of Houston that is relatively high ground, so the streets and garages turn into lakes but the buildings tend to remain above the water level. I could drink a six pack and take a leak in the parking lot, and 3 cars would have to get towed... that's how it is, but it acts as a retention pond. One new neighbor was losing their s-, looking at their drowned car. Yep. There's a reason why the Gecko and Mayhem double-end this neighborhood for car insurance. So, I stock up on water early in large jugs, get bread and peanut butter, drink my tea and the occasional shot of Jack, and stay put. Oh, and not worry about the unimportant crap, like this ticket to Wednesday's game vs the Rangers that will likely be ppd or played in Dallas. I have the work laptop for a reason, there is nothing out there for me to do (I did my walk to Specs for more Jack before the storms hit.) Posted a few photos on Flickr, but the real mess is elsewhere. For me, the real flood is the storm of "Are you okay? Did you park on high ground? How are you and the cats? Is the rain getting worse there?" messages. Yes, I understand that each individual cares. But the volume of them is at the "I drowned and died" stage Some folks have been a bit butthurt about that. Welcome to me. It's just how I'm miswired. In case of fire, use gasoline. And it was an opportunity to twist the old punchline "Two boats just passed by. Waiting on the helicopter." with my parents, where they haven't had rain for over 80 days. So, thanks, and I'm going to hug this very meowy cat so she'll purr herself to sleep and I can get some more myself.
  9. So, does a toy pretending to be a robot count as race-bending?
  10. The weather? I've listened to so many Welcome To Night Vale episodes recently, I want to play an obscure song.
  11. An in-world concert a few years back that made a difference.
  12. I agree with this position. Bailed from SL10B organizer team and made a map or two, took a few thousand snapshots of SLB exhibit builds... Ahhhh, my wild years.
  13. I believe that the goal is to allow a fair and diverse representation of the community for the merchant and exhibitor events, with quality being a factor but not the determining factor. This falls under the "cujus regio, cujus religio" principle of SL.
  14. I think it's a good idea. It gives merchants/designers an opportunity to be a part of the SLB experience, but also separate the commercial from the exhibition space.
  15. I'm quite certain that there's nothing holy about me.
  16. The bunny is coming home today. Got a photo of the bunny with a USDA approval sticker in Customs.
  17. When I travel, I carry a stuffed white rabbit around for photos. Went to a conference last week in DC, took lots of photos. Coworker was taking a side-trip to Puerto Rico, so I lent her the bunny. She's been sending me photos of the bunny doing silly things in Puerto Rico. Apparently, the bunny likes mangoes and lizards.
