  1. What annoys me mostly is if I buy an item from Marketplace or inworld, and I am added to a mailing list without being asked. This constitutes spam to me, I don't care whether I bought something or not. However, what annoys me MORE is when I tp into a store and I get 1-10 popups asking me to join a group (or groups, in some cases), giving me a landmark (sometimes trying to give 5 landmarks to all their stores ugh!), giving me free items (yeah, i don't like that either) - pretty much ANY popup that I get upon entering a store annoys me. If I want a landmark, I'll get it. If I like your stuff that much, I'll join a group/mailing list. I get SO tired of clicking Ignore on multiple popups just because I went to a store. I don't know yet if I like or want your things, so leave me alone! I know there are some systems that will wait until you're in a store for a little bit or are less pushy than other methods, but personally I refuse to use any of them. My mailing list subscriber is right at the entrance to my store and at all my satellites, and in boxed items I include a landmark and a little note about my mailing list. This works for me and I think most customers do appreciate the fact that I don't force them to close popups or unsub from lists they didn't subscribe to in the first place. I totally agree that just because you buy something, inworld or on marketplace, does not give the merchant a good enough reason to add you to a mailing list without permission. Luckily this doesn't happen to me a whole lot. But the popups on store entry happen to me a lot. I guess that's why they are so much more annoying... it happens SO much! That being said... everyone has their preferences.. And that's why some will choose to not shop at that store or mute the owner, and some will not... some will like free gifts or landmarks thrown at them, others will not.
  2. heh - here is JIRA if you find it also does not work for you: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-4566
  3. I have been trying to test gifting over the weekend and I have not been able to get it to work. If gifting is broken for you as well please watch/vote the JIRA I just created. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-4566
  4. I'd be interested to know when Gifting options will be functional again. It seems it is broken.

We have made some changes in search behavior which only Merchants will notice, which we have detailed on the wiki. We still have some work to do to continue improve performance, and we will do so as a top priority. We will be monitoring performance throughout the weekend. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue. The Commerce Team I appreciate the work that's being done to speed up the marketplace. I just wish that it wouldn't have a cost of slowing down other areas of workflow, this is kinda disappointing to read... Hopefully there can be other solutions in the near future that don't cause other areas of merchant workflow to be affected.. Looking forward to more improvements that won't mean other tasks are affected negatively, but instead bring improvements across the board.

  7. Yeah... but it was pretty slow before this too.. I've been working with it adding/editing items regularly... it just hasn't been 'grinding halt' slow like it is right now. So it needs improvement overall. It is something I forgot to mention in my survey response because, well, there are so many other things I wanted to address. I said earlier in this thread that I don't even shop much on Marketplace any more because it just takes too long in general. I'm sure others feel the same way. And with the deadlines they have imposed, it wouldn't be a bad idea to ramp up the speed for a month or so to accommodate everyone rushing in to migrate their listings.
  8. thank you! looking forward to a smoother faster marketplace.
  9. yeah there are a ton of people who have just reported they have nothing listed in their store. I think this is probably widespread. seems like a temp glitch, my items were gone and now they are back.
  10. Yes, they will, unless you convert them over to Direct Delivery. Which is actually a pretty easy process if you do it the simple way of just dragging them out of your Magic Box, and then dragging them into the Merchant Outbox and upload them. You should check out all the documentation and videos that are available right now. And make sure you have a viewer that supports Merchant Outbox, like LL V3 or Firestorm.
  11. Hi Garey, the magic boxes will still work through May 18 (April 18 for items $10L and under). But right now it's near impossible to do anything at all on the marketplace website. The loading time is utterly horrendous. it just took me almost 20 minutes to simply log into an alt and buy a linden bear.
  12. I'm betting that this problem is due to the heavy load on the site. It's pretty sad that it's not handling this as well as it should be. I can't even log out without waiting a few minutes. Just logged in an alt to test a delivery to an older viewer, the whole process took me almost 20 minutes on the website just to find the item, order the item, and place the order. boo!
  13. The Marketplace was painfully slow before but tolerable enough to deal with. NOW, merchants really can't expect to get anything done, and shoppers can't get any shopping done! PLEASE upgrade the network, the servers, the whatever, to make this site function as it should. As it stands I'm waiting up to 5 minutes for a page to load, just so I can try send a gift to someone. (and then find out the avatar can't be found, grrr). It takes me several minutes to simply log out and log back in. I'm not a fan of using capitals... but this is ATROCIOUS.
  14. Well, I guess it's a bit late, but you could have also "bulk edited" your items. The maximum number of listings you can show on the product page is 100, so with 900+ items you would have had to do this 10 times, and it may have taken the same amount of time as what you ended up doing, considering how slow the marketplace is running right now. But next time you are working on things, look for the top checkbox on the Products page, and you'll see that you can check all the items at once, then go to the dropdown at the bottom and select "Edit" and go to a page where you can change one or more fields in every listing you selected.
  15. It has been super slow since the 21st. It has been slow before that too, it is one of the reasons I do so much less shopping on the Marketplace than when it was Xstreet. Xstreet was WAY faster! I hope they will get some more bandwidth for the Marketplace, or whatever it is they need to do to make it faster, because this was a problem for me even before the DD migrations started. Only it was 'just fast enough' to make me tolerate it.
  16. Jasmina Frostbite wrote: Hello everyone! When I make a test delivery of my items (they are still boxed) they arrive in my recieved folder with no permissions at all. No copy, No modify, No transfer. Did any of you see this with your items? Any clue why? Well, it probably means that you have contents inside the box that are a mixture of these permissions. Once you rez it out, you will see that the permissions are still 'owner permissions' inside the box, and if you take the box back into inventory, it will probably be full perms or whatever perms they are to you. This is a new "feature" where the Test Delivery not only tests delivery, but also tries to show the merchant how the buyer will see the items when they receive it (watch the Torley video to see this mentioned). Unfortunately it doesn't really work the same on Objects or Boxed Items. And it also means there is no handy way to 'get back' an item with owner permissions intact, once you've uploaded it to the Marketplace and associated it with a listing.

This just worked for me! doesn't work for me... :matte-motes-sour: poo... did you relog viewer also? also, did you buy the Linden bear? I don't know if that is a 'required step' but it doesn't hurt to do it if you haven't.
  18. oh, and just to add, I'm not blaming Torley!!! lol. I love that guy and his DD videos (and many of his others) have helped me a LOT.
  19. Darrius Gothly wrote: I totally agree with you that Torley's statement (to the effect of "exactly like the customer receives it") is prone to misinterpretation. Technically he's right, but functionally he's off-base. Considering that the mindset around LL is that everyone will unbox and deliver only folders, I can understand why Torley makes that statement too. When a folder is delivered by DD, you will receive the contents of the folder with Next Owner permissions, just like a customer would. So in that context, he can be forgiven for going a bit overboard. Maybe we can get him to add a disclaimer to the effect of "... for unboxed products only"? Torley? What about it? Can you tweak that section just a wee bit please? But the problem is, even if you deliver in folders, if the item is an object, then it won't be next owner permissions once you rez the item, and neither will any of that object's contents. That is why I'm thinking that even though this is really cool in theory... that it might just be something that creates more confusion and misunderstanding than it is worth. To add a disclaimer to the video now would be great! "for unboxed products only" is not sufficient, because if that unboxed product is an object, it remains misleading. I feel like I'm being overly nitpicky about this, but I can guarantee you people are freaking out right now because they believe their objects are being transferred with owner perms and that "LL has screwed it up again."

Lasher Oh wrote: Don't worry - in 3 or 4 years from now when all the current DD devs have long gone and the commerce team as we know have all been 'let go' or have done a runner from the stress of it all. Someone will come up with a bright new idea that what we really need is some kind folder or box that works magically across all viewer versions and can hold our items which can then be easily updated by simple drag and drop. Yet another reason why I will not be offering customers pre-opened folders. ^L^ This is scarily predictive... One reason that I have considered sticking with boxes for now (even though it will add a step to my workflow) is that once you rez a box out of the Received Items and open it, it sticks the opened folder right in the normal Inventory pane where it belongs. Although, the Commerce Team has proposed that at some point you won't be able to rez things out of the Received Items folder. So that'll change things if that goes through and make me reconsider.
  21. Darrius Gothly wrote: I don't know if this will help anyone, but I threw together a quick document that describes the update process completely, including how to verify that the updated version is being delivered properly. Updating a Direct Delivery Product on the SL Marketplace Awesome! Will share.
  22. Darrius, you should know it makes sense to me because I've been selling objects for years And you may remember that I'm quite... well.. let's be honest... (it bleeped me... I meant.... detail oriented, not aannalll. heh) about things.. LOL I agree that it's working "as expected," like when you give to an alt but never rez, etc. Lots of more experienced users understand this, but newer users will not. What I'm saying is, it's not working as advertised in the video. In the video Torley says "this will deliver exactly as the customer will receive it." Perhaps I'm being nit-picky, but this is NOT true - once you rez the item, it's not 'exactly as received.' So I don't know that even having this "feature" is a good idea, seeing as how it is NOT a sure-fire way to test next-owner permissions on Objects or Items Within Objects, so why even say that it is, in a video that lots of people will see, if it doesn't actually work that way? This may work correctly for items that are textures, clothing items, etc, but NOT objects. Because there is this discrepancy, I don't think it's appropriate that it be communicated as "exactly how the next owner will see it." You are going to have people rezzing and picking items back up, or opening boxes' contents, then seeing that now that they have picked the items back up or opened the box they are owner perms, and thinking it goes to the customer that way. It's going to create lots of misunderstandings and confusion, much like the existing current permissions system in which people think that because they set an object to "no copy" it sets all the contents inside to "no copy" as well. Add that to the fact that the way the current merchant outbox works, there is no way to get a copy back of your items once they are uploaded except through "test delivery," once the item is associated. What if I want to grab a backup copy from Marketplace, and I sell no mod textures or scripts in a folder? Well, there is just no way, those items are now strictly whatever permissions I set on them (unlike objects which you can rez and take back). Granted, Marketplace shouldn't be used as storage, but it's another point in the matter.
  23. yeah i kinda panicked after my first answer... because I don't know exactly how to get the items BACK and fully intact in inventory once you've uploaded them.... O_O There is a "test delivery," but it changes things to next owner permissions, so that won't really work for a handy replacement if you deleted things.
  24. it's occurred to me that since there will be no central place directly accessible to the merchant, that the test delivery could also serve as a handy "send me a copy of my marketplace item" when someone needs to change/update their item contents, which would require owner permissions to be intact. The "next owner permissions" thing kinda screws that up. eta: apparently I sometimes just repeat what's already been said^^ heh
  25. also if you ever want to change/update those items... you might want to keep a back up so you can change and reupload... but i think you could keep them all in a box.
