A lot of people will file tickets over this incident, but a lot also won't.

The unticketed revenue losses are going somewhere, though, aren't they?

There has been an automated process in place to get all the orders that did go through, paid to merchants, even those that didn't file tickets. LL says it will complete by end of tonight.

What can't be recovered is all the sales that could have happened had the marketplace not gone down for a significant portion of the day :(

@ Sera: I agree, one of the funniest feature is posting pics to your feed. Hopefully TPVs will include that in their updates.

Edited to add: Some time ago, when asked about the possibility to post pictures saved on your computer (not just from inworld), Torley Linden mentioned that LL would be working on this.

I've been using Exodus, which does support posting to feed, yay :)  But currently I'm on the Beta Viewer.  Posting from own computer would be excellent! then I could post my ad pictures instead of having to take an additional inworld screenshot. But it's not too inconvenient since they don't charge for uploading pix to profile feed.

  3. I just hope that moving forward these things will be avoided on big shopping days.  And that the Commerce Team starts being more communicative with Merchants.. this is what is sorely missing right now.  I feel they are placing the importance on avoiding negative feedback (hence the silence) instead of placing priority on keeping merchants informed. Most of us are not negative LL haters, we just want the information so we can be aware of what's going on, so we don't sit for hours waiting for a post that gets buried in a forum or a tweet.

I would also like to add that it would be very beneficial to have User Group Meetings, as was promised us before.. Even if not all can attend, it would be a huge step in the right direction.

My Second LIfe, I mean my personal SL, not the LL service/product, happens on the grid, in world. My avie doesn't really exist once she's logged off. I have no interest in this dashboard thingie and never used it to date.

It's probably intended for the short term visitors, the "facetwitters" as we oldbies call 'em. Whole day connected to the net, but only 5 minutes in SL.

I disagree, since if you are using a viewer that enables it, you can post pictures and posts from inworld (with slurl links) and also view feeds from inworld.  I use the mysecondlife more inworld and when I am offworld, personally

Thank you LL for adding this much expected feature on the dashboard! This will be so helpful for many Residents, especially the recents ones. Good job! :smileyhappy:

PS: posting this in the General Discussion to be read by the largest number of people.

I am happy to see this too!  I hope more people will be using and looking at profiles this way, the newer viewers show your feed in your web profile which I happen to really like... it's a nice place for me to post updates (from inworld, mind you) that anyone looking at my profile will see (if they are in a viewer that shows them).

And it's also nice that you can "follow" people without having to friend them.  Just because I want to know about someone's product updates doesn't necessarily mean I want to ask them to be my friend^^ lol.

I was not a fan of the web profiles at first... but now I really like them.  I love posting snapshots from inworld to my feed :)

  6. Good for you Ziggy!

Fiscally, I had a much better Valentine's Day in 2011, but if the Marketplace had been working properly this year, I think things would have been more along the lines of last year for me, since that is where the bulk of my V-day sales happened this year and last year.  I still had a pretty good day saleswise.  I'm predicting next year will be my best year ever. :D

  7. Also it should be noted that most of the items actually were delivered on Valentine's Day - it was just the payment and email confirmations to merchants that was delayed.

Doesn't make it any less horrific... tons of potential sales were lost on Tuesday.

yep, I have more transactions going through now as well.

Well there are still other merchants out here (me included) who HAVE submitted tickets and have still NOT received our money.  It's midnight US central time now and I'm going to bed.  I will just hope that their "automated" system works since they have stopped personally helping those of us still waiting in the wings.

    Hi Marcus,

Have you gotten paid yet? I hope so!

I don't know if it was a result of the ticket i submitted or the automated process kicking in (described here,
but I began seeing the transactions actually completing about 10 minutes after i submitted my ticket about 1.5 hours ago. Yay! Crosses fingers for other merchants who had lots of transactions in limbo.

thanks for that link! I wish they would put this on the Merchant Home page on the marketplace so more people would actually see it... :/

LOL nice one.  and I agree with the rest. Whenever I get too emotionally invested I must remind myself that it's "Linden Research, Inc".... emphasis on the research.

Exactly what I did, and got paid for my "being delivered" items which also show correctly as having been delivered now,

IHowever one would hope that given the magnitude of the problems yesterday LL would have some mechanism to automatically push these transaction through without the need for every merchant to raise a ticket to get something done.

Nod -  I was told in my ticket that they were working on an automated process and so they were not going to push the rest through, but let the process take care of the rest.  Fingers crossed. :)

  12. Richie, It really wasn't that hard for me to go through and list 5 pages of transactions to send to LL.  Most of the "being delivered" orders were already sent while Marketplace was down yesterday. I was inworld most of yesterday watching all this happen.  I see it as part of my job to follow up when stuff like this happens, to ensure that I get paid.

I'm not sure if you're directing all this negativity directly at me or at LL , or why you say "us," as I am a merchant too... but either way a lot of "us" already got really frustrated and angered yesterday, and started trying to deal with the issue.  There's nothing to be done about the sales we ALL lost yesterday when the marketplace was down, because as you say, these were Valentine's day items that go stale as soon as the day is over.  Yes, I was pissed, and very disappointed. But that's not going to stop me from making sure I get paid for the items that DID get ordered and delivered.

Either way, FWIW, several of my stalled transactions have been pushed through today.  In the same ticket, I was told that the team was working on a process to make sure all transactions got pushed through... not just those who have filed tickets.   So, luckily for you, you likely won't have to file a ticket to get paid for your 16 pages. ;)

  13. I would certainly appreciate any public explanations and apologies the Lab would have to offer but sadly am not expecting it. Even though pretty much the entire active population of Second Life was affected.

At this point, it would just be nice to get the money that is currently due to me through Marketplace.

And although it's a hassle to have to get a list together of all the 'being delivered' and 'queued' orders on marketplace, double checking against a separate set of records to make sure it wasn't paid already...  I'm not sure that LL will actually appreciate the scope of what's happened until people start filing tickets with their details.

  14. Hi,

I have also submitted a ticket with a list of my Marketplace items that are "being delivered."  I would imagine it will take a little while for all these orders to get resolved and merchants paid, but I do believe it will be handled.

I would highly recommend filing a detailed ticket about any items shown "being delivered" so that Linden Lab can appreciate the scope of what happened yesterday.  There is a lot of $L in their escrow right now that definitely needs to get where it should be going.  If buyers received the merchandise, then merchants deserve to be paid.

  15. Hi, I've been having this problem with the latest Beta viewer 3.2.7 (247803) where all my text looks funny (squished, not quite clear) - I am attaching images to clarify.  I do not have this issue with the Regular LL viewer, and cannot figure out how to fix this.  My UI size is set to 1.20.  I have tried clearing cache, restarting SL, restarting computer, updating video driver and toying with graphics settings (I have Nvidia GeForce 275).. none of these seem to work.  Has anyone been encountering this problem and if so, how did you fix it?  Or is there perhaps an existing JIRA for this or should I create one?  Thanks for any help! ^^

  16. Thank you for this, however it should be noted that a fair number of content creators do in fact own or have obtained licenses for some of the animations in question, either before or after these were publicized as "pirated."  I am referring specifically to several cuddle poses by Craig Altman which were available inworld to buy full perm for content creation for some time (probably still are?), and a set of poses from Johan Durant that a handful of merchants paid good money for licensing after finding out they were not 'freebies.'

People should be aware that if they see these animations in commercial builds, they are not, in all cases, pirated, but in many cases are properly licensed and are being used according to those licenses.
