Hello, I have been a happy member of the SL community for a long time, and am an IT professional and am having a very strange problem for the last two months or so. Whenever I log into Second Life from my home computer (Mac Book Pro 2009) I find I have incredibly slow connection limiting me to between 2.5 FPS and 5 FPS no matter where I go. If I attempt to log in using Firestorm, which is my preferred viewer, the viewer takes forever to load and then before ever successfully logging in darkens out and tells me I've been logged out. When logged in with Viewer 2 I find my entire computer to be slow to the point of barely being useable and the stats on the SL stat viewer are terrible. From what I remember those stats are something around 2.5 to 5 Frames Per Second, the bandwidth is remarkably low, think double digits 59 or 79 (yes, I've upped bandwidth to over 3000), and the ping time is usually between 250 to 590 or 600. Given these stats I am led to believe it is one of two things: 1. My network is being throttled, specifically on SL traffic. I haven't been able to get SL running on any other machines in the house to test it. 2. My video card is struggling for some reason. I've been using this computer to access SL for years now with no problem. It is bizarre to me that I am running into this now for seemingly no reason. Any suggestions?
