  1. It's no problem, you're welcome! So true, about rude types! Are you a member of the black simmers forum? If not, I can send you the link. Most of the people are pretty chill over there.
  2. I'm no fan of NCI - never liked the place, but I've never experienced any racism while visiting there and my avi is very obviously black. As with everywhere else in SL, some people were friendly and welcoming - others not so much. Like many have already said, it's better to cut your losses and move on to greener pastures, than to continue dwelling in the past. When you actually do come across racism, you are right to stand up to it and rail against it, but I don't believe that is the case here. I'd chalk it up to a miscommunication which resulted from a cultural/language barrier, and somehow something got lost in translation.
  3. Not a pic of myself, but of Nils that I took yesterday.
  4. LOL That may be true of some SL groups on FB, but not any that I belong to. On occasion there will be some troll who comes along and decides to try his/her luck, but they are quickly booted and blocked. Most of the drama that I've seen, seems to stem from spats between individual creators who sometimes accuse each other of copybotting or copying each other's work. I can't speak for the instagram crowd because I don't actively use it, but it seems that a lot of us SLers are also Sims players, so that could be another forum (Sims Forums) for her to check out if she's just looking for online friends, or an online community where she'd feel welcome.
  5. My online journey started back in 1994, when I got my first computer. At that time, a new internet provider called Prodigy had just hit the market, and I signed up to see what the world wide web was all about. Basically, I've been online ever since. From that point on I was all over the virtual map - from BBS/Telnet user, MIRC chatroom moderator to Compuserve forum moderator, AOL member, Yahoo Messenger user, IMDB forum poster, and MMORPG player. Just before I arrived at Second Life in 2007, I was a frequent user of IMVU. I became disenchanted with that after a while, and was on the search for something more fulfilling. It just so happened that one day I received an email about a Duran Duran concert that was taking place in SL, and decided to join and I've been here off and on ever since.
  6. There are many more of us over there than here in the forum and you'd be more than welcome. Speaking of... Just scroll past the BS, it's just insignificant blathering and what they do around here. It's not that serious. The FB crowd is a lot more laidback, and there are literally hundreds of SL related groups you can join.
  7. It isn't, but people tend to be lazy, and/or assume that you should already know. Your best bet is to go elsewhere for help.
  8. No instagram or twitter, but there are plenty of us over on FB if you care to join! Thanks in advance to you too!
  9. Report it - yes. Delete what I bought and paid for? - no. And I would never waste another L$ purchasing anything from this person.
  10. From preacher's son, to Godfather of Goth Rock...
  11. Some friends and I were messing about in a magic shop one day, where I spotted a guillotine.. I decided to hop on, and this was the end result.. Instead of my head reattaching itself to my body once I had gotten up, it just floated around in front of me for the remainder of the day, until I logged out.
  12. Good question. I suppose that would depend upon the Op's level of "expertise", and at a going rate of 20L, it doesn't sound very promising.
  13. *Crickets* Which would probably mean that the West African/African Second lifers either don't post in this forum, or they are lurking about somewhere. There are a few of us black Americans, black Brits, and black people from other countries who post here. Not many but we are here. Feel free to say Hi sometime!
  14. You need to bump that up by 2 or 3 more 0's. Just sayin'.
  15. Nils and Kris, relaxing at the beach and snapping photos.
