1. First of all, Thank you to my friend for alerting me to this post.

Before I get started, I must warn you that I am vision impaired so this post may contain typos and various errors.

This is how it all went down. Some months back, I joined Flickr and some of the Second Life photography groups that were listed. As I sometimes did, I browsed through the photos to check out the work of each of its members. The person in question happened to be in one of those groups. I liked their work but didn't contact them, just filed away a mental note to contact them in the future if I needed any pics taken. Fast forward to one month ago, I get a random message out of the blue asking if I need any pics taken. Lo and behold, it was the same person who I made a mental note of months before. So I said, yeah, I've seen your work and it looks nice, how much do you charge? They passed along a notecard with their fees. I took a look at it and said fine, I'll contact you when I'm ready.

A month goes by and they message me and ask if I'm still interested, I tell them sure, let's do this. They TPed me to their studio, I paid ($L6000 NOT 60,000), and the session began. Once it was over, they told me it would be a week because they like to take their time to make sure everything looks good and will send the photos when ready. I thought a week was a bit of a stretch but said ok whatever. One week passes and I message them about my pics, they told me that it will be a bit longer, and I asked how long? Another week, they said. Hmm, ok.

That week passed, and I totally forgot about the pics because I had a lot going on in RL and hadn't logged in much. So, as soon as I could get back online, I logged in and messaged them. Asked about my pictures and they told me they would send them "tomorrow". Tomorrow came and I PMed them again and inquired about my pictures. They sent a link to their Flickr so I could see them. That's when I saw that they had not delivered on what they had promised. The pictures on their Flickr are heavily photoshopped, mine was not. It had some shadows added under the chin and a background, and that was it. Plus the angle was all wrong and the photo had a fishbowl effect where you could clearly tell that the zoom and focus were off. So it was definitely not the same quality of picture that is advertised on the Flickr page. I asked, What in the hell is this? I waited nearly a month for this crap?? They laughed and said well you got your pictures! I told them I wanted a refund because this is not what I paid for and most certainly not the results I was promised.

They said BYE , and I told them that I was contacting Linden Labs because this was clearly a case of fraud. I sent in a report and came here to warn others to beware of this person if contacted. Then I proceeded to get the word out elsewhere and that is when I found out that the person in question was a known scammer. So, others have agreed to report them because a few of them got taken in as well. And that is pretty much it in a nutshell. No one is asking for sympathy or whatever else, I'm only spreading the word to keep others from being misled and taken in by this person. I don't get caught out very often on SL, actually in all of my years as a Second Lifer, I've never been scammed by anyone, so this is a first. I'll take it as a learning lesson and move on, but not before getting the word out about this person.

Honestly, if someone in SL wants to hand over L$60,000 --- or even just L$6,000 -- for maybe getting a decent photo or two, then let them do it.   If someone thinks the service is worth that and wants to take a chance of handing over a lot of money before getting delivery, I just don't have much sympathy if the money is lost.  People need to stop and think before they hand money over to folks - and we cannot always protect people from their own stupidity.

I was the stupid person who got scammed, tyvm. Never asked for any sympathy either. But I did make a post warning people. Perhaps you should know all of the facts before passing judgment.

Agreed! That's a great look for @Destiny Marques. And, again, I love the stark contrast of monotones and colours.

As for the kitchen counters, I can't tell you how long it took me last year to find good looking sets of dirty dishes for my own.  Also, stacks of recent grocery purchases not yet properly put away. (Because of course I wanted my kitchen to look like my own.)

Thank you! Coming from you, that means a lot.

I think it helps that I can't see color in the same way that everyone else does, so I tend to use the contrast of bright colors against a stark monotone backdrop quite often, because it makes what little color I can see pop.

I love this outfit so much. Those colors look amazing on you.  ❤️

Unrelated, but...get some food on those kitchen counters, by the way! Look at all that space. For food! 😂

    Tyvm! 😄

Food?! I'm a starving model don't you know! Nothing passes these lips except water with a squeeze of lemon! Lol! J/K

I just moved into this skybox a couple of days ago, so I'm still trying to figure out all of the bells and whistles. I'll see if I can get some food in this place and get some meat on these ol' emaciated bones! Lol 💀🤣

I'm pretty sure that she uses Photoshop or something similar for most of her pics. If you use the Black Dragon viewer for your photos, though, and get well-practiced with EEP and in-world projectors, it's often possible to get these kinds of effects without post-processing.

That's exactly what I've been doing. Takes forever to set up a shot, but in the end, I'll get the desired result (with any luck). I'll tackle PS once I get the hang of using Black Dragon.

Well, you don't look new! I especially like the really stark simplicity of the colour / monotone.

My favourite "fashion photographer" in SL is @Saveria Rossini -- she does colour blocking really well. She's also a sweetheart. I will occasionally just go back over her Flickr feed looking for inspiration (and quietly fuming in a jealous rage). This is my current favourite by her.

Wow, I aspire to be on that level! Are her photos raw takes or does she use photoshop as well? I'm not good with PS so I don't use it.
Secret tidbit about me: I'm colorblind and legally blind.
(Select to reveal)

I tried to put a spoiler but it's not working.

How beautifully elegant! I hope you are doing fashion pics? You've got a good eye for it, I think!

Thank you! :) I'm trying to get some practice in. I'm fairly new to photography, so I haven't quite perfected it. Especially when it comes to lighting and hitting the right angles, but I'm working on it.
