  1. Good grief dude, another alias, this one slipped past..... You still messing with Scylla, leave her alone! I don't get out much anymore, never paid attention to 'this' author. Do carry on, with your particular brand of whateva whateva.... (was that grammatically correct?) I stay in my lane. And while you're at it, have a blessed and beautiful day! :matte-motes-big-grin:
  2. Oh; I hadn't realized that, because, I don't know him. He's not on my friends list. So, if what you said is true, then, I amend my answer to........ "I don't care'? :matte-motes-bored: If what you say is not true, then.....I still don't care? LOL
  3. No. Outside of an occasional group related activity, while I love SL I prefer my own company, to do my own thing, or leave, as I see fit. Very short 'Friend' list. Been here a long time, and it's always been that way. Often uncheck everyone, so I can go about my business, or entertainment, without being IM'd. I'm an isolationist in RL too, so, *shrug*. I'm good with it. The few that have remained 'Friends' with me for 8 years in SL, know and understand this quirk, and apparantly they're good with it too. Easy peasy.
  4. That's a really interesting question, and I am betting the answer is NO but am following all the same. The reason I'd expect it to be no, is that doing that would impact the OTHER half of the sim you're trying to create...... the half outside the for sale part. LL would have to reconfigure the entire area to accomodate that, even if that next door sim was entirely empty (in which case, you'd probably just abandon your current half sim, and go buy the whole sim next door....... lol convoluted but interesting.
  5. Please feel free to join SLBA (Second Life Bar Association). There was just, very recently, a presentation on copyright issues; Many members, though not all, are real life attorneys, with a presence in SL; The legal sim is 'Justitia', attorneys have offices on the upper level of the sim and the lower lever is residential. Feel free to visit, leave a notecard if you have specific questions, and attend the monthly meeting on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10am SL time. If you are a RL attorney, many of the presentations also have CLE credit, (Continued Legal Education). The SLBA current president is Maryland RL attorney Tim Faith (SL Name Yoss Kamachi) if you have specific questions.
  6. The media? Why would the media care that some avatar in Second Life is being role played without permission? What media?
  7. Here you go; Inara Pey, bless her, was there...... https://modemworld.wordpress.com/
  8. I don't have much of a RL social life; most of that is probably my fault, I'm an isolationist; so when I come to SL, I take my friends there, the people I have met, and learned to care for, very seriously. Just as I would if we were RL friends. Friends are friends; and are to be taken seriously. (BTW, in the olden SL days, I used to actually care if someone violated my 'privacy', banning people if I caught them using my bed, etc, LOL I no longer care at all, and actually don't even have houses on my land; I have a couple private places in the sky to change but I don't care anymore who comes on my virtual land.) Maybe it's something you grow out of? It's the people I am serious about.
  9. Thanks Medhue, for the YouTube vid with captions. Kinda like a transcript! Still waiting for official responses on my questions re transcripts, although I'm sure it's still too soon.
  10. Trying to find out for you ,and will post here when I do. (Transcript)
  11. Thanks Qie; that actually worked, it DID let me reset it, to zero. I have no group contributions at this time, and it reflects that. So, It will bill me for this last time due, end of March (for me it's the 28th of the month) and that should be it. Thanks!
  12. It's nice that you enjoyed Ebbe Linden's talk today. There's a whole calendar of VWBPE events, do you have that? For the remainder of this week. It's an education conference that is annual. Virtual Ability also does IDRAC, (International Disabiltiy Rights Affirmation Conference) annually as well. Last night, Virtual Ability also hosted a panel talk on the movie "Log In 2 Life', which was made a few years back, featuring Stroker (hmmm his last name escapes me, Serpentine?' and our Virtual Ability founder, Gentle Heron. 2 very different people, different lifestyles, both RL and SL; talking about their lives, and how virtual worlds enhances them. Gentle is wheelchair bound, one of my favorite scenes showed her, in RL, driving her wheelchair down the street, with her avatar, Gentle Heron, dancing along in the air behind her. I think that scene will stick in my head forever. The discussion was streamed in live from NYC, where folks in RL watched the movie and talked with the panel, and those of us in the audience, on Virtual Ability Island, in SL. None of this is RP, or gaming in any way, it's just people connecting. Again, glad you enjoyed Ebbe Linden today! Let me know if you need the VWBPE calendar of events.
  13. Hello, I should know this, and am sure I used to, but can't remember. I know someone here can refresh me on how this works. I just sold a mainland parcel that I've owned since 2007. I'm Premium. I've been paying at a 2048 rate, of $15.00 per month for the land. So now, I have none. If I recall, I stil can get a free 512 if I want, but how soon can/do I change the land management cost on the website? If I'm not mistaken, this is March, so I will still be charged the $15 for March..... is it an automatic update after that or at what point does/can it change, and do I change it? I don't think I can change it yet, right, because the sale just happened today. Thanks so much!
  14. I remember my 'first inworld Linden', way back in 2009 or so, he was working on some abandoned land in Whitesun where I 'still' have a parcel. I was like you, WOW, a LINDEN! We exchanged pleasantries, nice weather we're having, haha. I didn't go after him with a bunch of stuff, just said hi and let him get on with his work. It was a simple, pleasant interaction.
  15. 7 years, 6 months, 3 days and 2 hours. LOL I still love SL, and like Freya, still wear the occasional box on my head just for fun. I am very much a loner and so don't really notice less, or more people; I'm by myself unless involved in a Virtual Ability community activity; I own a few land parcels, both mainland and estate, and still have fun 'doing stuff' on them, and setting up things, I used to care about 'privacy', now I don't. Used to trip if I caught a stranger in my bed, now I know how to kick, send home and ban if I care enough at the moment. It's easier, less obsessive. I still log in daily. So yes while it's probably changed, 'my' SL hasn't changed that much, and I'm fine with that. :matte-motes-bashful-cute:
  16. It doesn't 'matter'. But...... it's the topic of this thread..... right? One of the possibilities being, celebrities in RL paying LL for use of their RL names in SL?
  17. I think that's why for example, Yoko Ono is 'really' Yoko Ono'. If she's still in SL that is, but the RL Yoko Ono actually had the name.
  18. Think about doing a tribute; he doesn't have to be passed away for you to honor him, in SL. It can be quiet, and private; there are grief groups, and places you can go just to meditate; I have a flower buried on my land, in memory of someone I lost in RL. I recently helped a friend shop for things to help assuage his grief, when his aunt was dying. LL has (or had, not sure if still do) a sim dedicated to memorializing those we've lost in either SL, or RL. Give yourself an outlet, something to do. I know he's not gone, but you're missing him as if he is..... give that love a place to go. God bless, and may you have a peaceful and encouraged spirit.
  19. I used to have my land set to prevent object entry; until I discovered (from a forum thread) that it also prevents vehicles from crossing your parcel, planes, cars, anything will get hung up. I didn't want to hinder those, so I removed that. I know you were speaking to the OP here, but just saying, it's an option but also hangs up things you don't mind going through.
  20. Question: If you de-render something, can't other people still see it? If the OP is trying to have a public club, or hang out, won't her guests/visitors/customers still see the offending stuff? I have a neighbor like that on my mainland parcel; I inherited a 512 from my RL son, who left SL; I've had it since 2007. I added to it, as land became available around me, and now it's a 2048 parcel I think. I've divided it to keep the 512 by itself, and removed all objects off the other piece; because my neighbor harasses me whenever I put anything out. He's SO mean. I think he really also doesn't understand how land is divided, and how to see who owns what; he was harrassing me for objects on someone else's land and no matter what I said, he wouldn't believe they weren't mine. I think he doesn't understand how to edit something (an object was floating loose on his land, that he was sure was mine because it was 'near' my land. But it wasn't mine, it was another neighbors. All he had to do was return it, but he went off on me and finally I gave up and am just trying to wait him out now, I've waited out plenty of bad neighbors in the past. I still keep the little 512 piece active but I have no objects on the piece nearest him. Sad to admit, he intimidates me. Why didn't I AR him? Just a resident dispute, didn't expect LL to be interested.
  21. Hi Savannah; Please also visit Health Info Island, owned by Virtual Ability, and check out the path of Support. We have pretty much all the support groups in SL, listed there with their info, and group owners, at least those who have submitted info to us for inclusion. Good luck and feel free to contact Gentle Heron for info about Virtual Ability, a community of differently abled people in Second Life. Tell her I sent you from the SL Forums. I see 2 prostate cancer support groups, in Search but no idea how active those are, you could IM the group owner to find out. Good luck!
  22. What Maryann Solo said. Because I trust the source, and when it comes to buying Lindens, it's the only source I trust. If it costs more, so be it, I'd rather have the peace of mind, than to save a buck, and worry about it.
  23. I wasn't fighting, I Didnt' think. At the time I engaged in this thread, I was really really interested to know why people kept answering something they found so annoying; and the anger or annoyance was escalating. It's an old phenomenon, but I just decided to go ahead and ask. I didn't mean to be perceived as fighting though, it's just a different opinion than some others have. If I couldn't be kind, I'd just move past it, there's no rule that we have to answer everything all the time. Trolls come and go. You could be right, I have no idea.
  24. True we all have opinions and are entitled to them. Thank you for allowing that. I just wonder why you (the royal you, not you in particular) continue to respond to someone you find so annoying. Seems like you'd just scroll past it. The thread was several pages long already by the time I said something. Ah well carry on. It's certainly nothing new. Have a wonderful week.
