  1. Greetings, I am Sandrine Han, aka Kristy Handrick in SL, assistant professor at the University of British Columbia Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy. I am currently conducting a research which entitled: Visual Culture Awareness in Virtual Environment. The goal of this research is to understand if culturally and historically authentic imagery is important for users to understand the virtual world they are in; how virtual world residents form and reform their virtual culture; and whether the visual culture in the virtual world is imported from the real world, colonized by any dominate culture, or assimilated to a new culture. I am looking for participants who are Second Life users and have lived in at least two different countries for at least 6 months. Participants will spend about 45 minutes for the survey and will earn $250LD as compensation. Participants who are willing to take a follow up interview for about 50 minutes will earn another $250LD as compensation. If you are willing to be part of this research, please go to the website https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VirtualCultureConsent to fill out the consent form, and it will lead you to the survey site. The survey and the consent form will be stored in different data set. Your identity will not be identified in anyway. Thank you for your interests. I deeply appreciate your participation. If you have any question regarding to this research, please feel free to contact with me. Thank you.
