  1. I haven't had any official response from Linden Lab as yet, but I guess they must be working on it. Kudos to the team. I noticed the resident still has an active account though: http://world.secondlife.com/resident/2bd91e65-30cd-4d0a-aab0-a1ad20b8ae3d and their shop is still active with other content. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/54800 To be honest, this should be IP blocked. But this type of action is beyond the public feedback from the Lab as it's private. I hope they shut it down soon.
  2. DMCA has been duly written and sent from our business address with copies made and sent to lawyers. In the 6 months it will take to get something done, I siggest you start your investigations. It pretty obvious they are stealing content and getting profits from other peoples hard work.
  3. I've been made aware, from a good friend that purchased my products from Vamporium, that one of the items has been copybotted and sold here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/skeletor-costume/2160151 I would urge all the merchants to check their shop items and make sure yours isn't listed. I already recognise they copybotted Pravda Core's excellent and unique sculpture. What can we do? Sweet FA with the way Linden Lab speed goes. Luckily we have a thriving community and at least advise eachother of the goings on. Peace out and Happy Buildin!
  4. Kudos and respect to the Midian City team. May your future be bright.
  5. It's because people dont SEE you're a 27 year old person but a small child. People react to what they see. If you owned a night club in real life and a child walks straight in the door, would you let them roam around? Pg, Mature and Adult areas are so classified to help residents have some control over their own virtual plots. It is their choice if they don't wish depictions of underage avatars roaming around. As for Linden land, the mature areas are for "grown ups" as there could be depictions of violence and/or material of 18+ nature. This subject is always a touchy one and I have no doubt this will turn into a "hot thread". But, congratulations for provoking what you want... attention.
  6. Finally... group chat looks promising. Kudos to the engineers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1D1cap6yETA
  7. Three hours of daytime and one hour of night, meaning in a real-world 24-hour day, there are six Second Life® days. https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/How_long_is_a_Second_Life_day%3F You can check the cycles by checking the Day/Night Cycle edito of the Default Windlight settings More information about the Day/Night Cycle editor can be found here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Environment-editor/ta-p/700063#The_Day_Cycle_Editor
  8. The best thing that Linden Lab has ever introduced was the unique ability for a resident to be able to type in a paragraph of text into a group chat box, then given time after pressing Enter to go and boil a pot of coffee, drink it, then return to the group chat to find the post has only just gone through. Which, of course, gives you enough time to think about your next post with the added benefit of raiding the fridge when you press Enter again. But seriously, all kiddin aside The best thing that Linden Lab ever gave us is this wonderful resource called Second Life. A tool to enable us to realize our imagination and put it in a tangible form (if that's ever digitally possible) so others may enjoy the experience too. Linden Lab gave us the canvas for us to paint our dreams upon. Oh, and welcome to SL.
  9. Is this the kind of thing you want? http://wishlist.secondlife.com/
  10. Ages ago, I added an Unlucky Chair in Vamporium that changes the letter every 5 minutes. Knock yourself out with it http://slurl.com/secondlife/Vamporium
  11. According to the Knowledge Page: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Buying-private-Regions/ta-p/700045 "You cannot make a payment until you have received an invoice (bill), after which you have 30 days to pay for it. Late payment may result in your island being shut down and the possibility of lost inventory on the island. Invoices for maintenance will be emailed when the payment schedule is ready for renewal." I would have a one on one with a Linden as this information should really come from the horses mouth. Oh and great to see you, Nadir *waves*
  12. Being the creator of LaRPS and hold an understanding of most combat meter systems, you will find that almost all systems use hidden channels for damage and communications. This is to prevent abuse from players coding up their SuperQuickKill HUDs or the like. However, there is one common damage factor and that is by rezzing bullets, ie: Scripted Physical Prims, that move faster than a certain speed (speed depends on the meter system). If you're primary use is for vehicle combat, then try looking at the Terra Combat System. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Terra-Combat-System-254-Developers-Kit/36804 If you are purely looking to code for advanced damage avatar collision, then you really need to contact several roleplay/combat meter system to join their API develoeprs groups, such as CCS, etc. Of course, if you are simply making a gun style weapon, then simply ensure your rezzed bullet moves faster than 25m/s and that it dies when colliding with any object, land or avatar. Linden Lab wil be introducing the llCastRay function soon to help with the lag of rezzing prim bullets, but I see that feature being along way off Hope this has been helpful to you. Happy Buildin, ^V^
  13. I was actually PLEASED to finally see some step forward to group chat lag fix. Now let's see how long it takes after they've measured the shortest distance between two points. They are asking for helpers on the beta grid, so if anyone is wanting to help out Linden Lab fix the damn thing, then see here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/GroupChatTest One step forward... even though it's a baby step. ^V^
  14. Group chat lag is now getting to a point where it's killing the Community. How to obliterate a resident community and drop users so they go elsewhere? Simply give them LAGGY GROUP CHAT Oh come on Linden Lab... It's not hard to do. I even had to create a website chat for our RP community in Legacies cos the chat lag is SOOOO bad in groups. It took me 2 days to make it. It takes the Lab 8 years to not even come close to a fix. So, if Linden Lab want residents to come into Second Life and be part of a community that embelishes ease of communication and creativity - FIX THE DAMN GROUP CHAT. Users NEED to communicate. You've made this forum, you've made Marketplace, you've placed in-world chat features. Surely the basics is... to work. If I had you on my Software development payroll.... [in Trump Voice] YOU'RE FIRED! But seriously.... Group Chat NEEDS to be fixed NOW!!! If you're working on it, then TELL US! Give us a day by day progress on what you are doing. Forget Mesh, we can wait (although the money grabbing merchants won't LOL). Forget shiney Windlight regions. Forget bloatware. Fix the basic thing that residents NEED... ... Breaths Okay.... there's my feedback. Enjoy ^V^
  15. If you are walking into the idea of setting up a roleplay/combat region that pays for itself and is able to sustain running for more than 1 month.... don't. It'll never happen, unless you have a remarkable and very unique idea that people would be happy to pay for. In the last 4 years, I've seen regions start up, last one month, then say goodbye due to overheads. Do a secure plan. Get resources. Imagine for the first 6 months, you won't be making any profit. Roleplay and combat places don't make money. The weapons makers, costume creators, gadget geeks... they make money. So why are there RP and combat regions? Here's why.... cos we as world builders do it for the love, not for the dollar sign. You tend to find that, like myself, we roleplay universe owners make these places for the love of the topic. Either because of paragraph RP, engaging storylines, exciting combat, etc. It's not about the money return, it's about the satisfaction of being able to create something and enjoy the results of seeing it come to life. It's a different mindset to a business-person. I respect your choice if you do continue, but remember, to pay that $300... you'll need a huge number of visitors who constantly purchase from you. Something that is very hard in any business. Good luck and Happy RPin ^V^
  16. The SL Destination Guide is great. It gives new residents an idea starter point and just shows everyone the level of creative imagination that we all have. However.... I would personally like to see an in-world voting system built into the viewer or from the stats of the SL servers. Not the "traffic" number, but a simple Linden Lab made tool to "Vote For This". Then display that on the Guide. The Facebook Like button is a poor tool to give new residents an idea of popular places. This Like tool is easily abused by the "business merchants" and doesn't reflect a true concensus of how favoured that destination is. I can agree, it's a difficult task, but reducing the methods to a streamed system would be favoured by all. (Hints on the Group Chats ) Besides, we are VIRTUAL not REAL when in SL, so why do we need to give out our personal RL details (upon clicking Facebook Like) to justify our virtual existance. Alas, a topic for another post in another board here for this wonderful Community forum. Just my 3.142 cents. Happy exploring all. Oh, and don't forget to visit Legacies 1891 (blatent plug but hey *shrugs* )
  17. Second Life is.... Community created... Community driven... Community maintained... Community killed. We only have ourselves to blame if Second Life kicks the bucket from the mortal coil. With any social media development, the "human factor" is paramount. New mediums to serve the fast and furious fashionists then there's Second Life, a slow steady tanking snail that only hardened residents keep alive. So far, what I witness, LL is appearing to go into the fast and furious lane whilst trying to ride a racing snail. It is the community to service that snail with all the turbo it needs to survive. Just my 3.142 thought provoking cents. Happy RPin.
