  1. One possibility is that you don't have payment information on file - land can be set to exclude people based on this. Or, of course, the land may just have restricted access generally - only allowing groups, or a list of particular residents.
  2. As far as exposure to the Web goes, the default setting should surely be "none at all"! Allow your customers to opt in to this exposure, not require them to opt out. I can think of no sensible reason why I'd want anyone on the Web to see my inworld profile anyway. However, I'd far rather someone addressed the rather more mundane concern of IT DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. I don't want to be visible on the Web, and I certainly don't want to have to view everyone else's profiles in an external browser. But this is what I have to do, as the inworld viewer can be left open for - quite literally - hours without loading a profile! The point of these beta releases is to identify and fix defects like this, isn't it? Provide an inworld profile viewer that WORKS, and we can worry about wider issues after that.
  3. You can add me to the list of people who want nothing whatsoever to do with Facebook. Never had a Facebook account, never will, don't want to go near it. Moving on: the big problem with the web-based profiles, for me, is that the in-game web browser simply DOES NOT WORK, at least with any measure of reliability. I haven't been able to open a single profile on it today, for example; I just get a black box filling two-thirds of my screen and doing nothing. I'm also rather used to reading profiles in-world "at a glance", and this is simply not possible any more; once I've opened a profile page in my external browser, I still have to click through for things like group memberships (seeing the first three in alphabetical order is NOT helpful!) which I used to be able just to look at in one move. So - besides the issues of privacy and personal choice involved in the whole Facebook issue - the technology isn't reliable, and it's a major step backwards in terms of ease of use. Consider me unimpressed.
