But that's not the case with this law - anyone can claim copyright and shut you down instantly world-wide, without reference to a judge - getting back on, however, depends entirely on who can afford the better lawyers, you or the RIAA/MPAA/etc. Being "clean" has nothing to do with it.

Ireland probably won't join in out of bloody-mindedness but will ban everything as anti-Catholic so the effect will be the same. Austria will keep internet access open for philosophical considerations, Benelux because they hate being seen to do what Germany and France want amd Monaco so they can charge for it. Britain will take twice as long to introduce a law twice as restrictive that doesn't work anyway and then blame it on 'the EU'. Peter, that is absolutely superb, and right on the button - thank you for cheering up my day :-)

  8. Innula Zenovka wrote: "General regions are areas where you should feel free to say and do things that you would be comfortable saying and doing in front of your grandmother or a grade school class," Neither of my grandmothers would care in the slightest what I did in front of them, as they've both been dead for over 30 years - and what, exactly, is a "grade school" ? it may be meaningful to someone from the USA, but is completely outside the cultural milieu of the rest of us...
  9. A bit of a long-shot, but have you tried clearing your cache while offline, and re-logging ? 'missing' items sometimes re-appear when you do this.

There are around 200 countries in the world, with many different languages, different forms of identification, banking systems etc. Just how do you suggest all these different forms of ID should be made known to Linden Lab in the first place ? - let alone how they are supposed to use them (and which ones to use) every single time a new AV is created ?

They're derived from the viewer source LL released years ago, and legitimately reverse-engineered server code.

  16. I take it your viewer is on the LL approved list of TPV's ? Edit: And that the source is available for others to check and compile for themselves ?
  17. I reactivated a 10-months closed account not long ago, just had to fill in some details to prove who I was. This was free.

  20. Where does this ludicrous 'sense of entitlement' come from ? If you want to be sure of access to a particular place in SL, buy your own and pay the tier on it yourself - just like the person who's decided (s)he doesn't want furries on their own land has done.
  21. Ceka Cianci wrote: Qie Niangao wrote: I don't want to do anything that would risk getting this thread removed (like the others), but I'm really unclear how to productively discuss the issues involved without naming names, except at such an abstract level that nobody is going to understand what we're talking about. Personally, I didn't read Soft's suggestion to be restricted to these Linden forums. There is an extensive thread on the topic "across the street" (can we link to other forums from here, without endangering the thread?), where individuals and groups can be named. The thread is in fact so extensive that there's also another one in which are posted digests of 25-page chunks of the main thread. Incidentally, if readers found the linked Jira to be strange and inappropriate, yeah: that's kind of the point -- a point accompanied by layer upon layer of pathological behaviors. i don't know if i would post a link to the other side of the street..i tried posting a link to that thread the other day in a thread here and that thread went away.. i don't think people would miss the title if something related to the title were mentioned here though hehehe what ryhmes with J.esus? L. uvs? U? hehehe And what rhymes with Secondlife Loves Us ?
  22. The important thing is that it got your attention...
  23. Perrie Juran wrote: In that case you absolutely have my apology. I mistook you for the product's developer. However, I still stand by what I say about not putting words in someone else's mouth. It is bad for one's credibility. Again, my apologies. Perry I accept your apology, thank you. I think our disagreement about what Soft means is one of interpretation, not purpose - if a Linden recommends that something is best posted on this forum, I take that as a request for action rather than simply a serving-suggestion. I also have the advantage of knowing the background to this issue in some detail from other sources.
  24. Perrie, you're completely and utterly wrong about me. I'm no businessman, and this product is nothing to do with me. I'm absolutely against it and all that it's creators stand for, which is why i'm trying to bring it to people's attention - something several others have attempted to do more directly, only to be moderated to oblivion. Incidentally, are you allowed to blatantly call people liars like that , on this forum ? I thought it was supposed to be civilised these days...
  25. Perrie Juran wrote: I just read that JIRA and no where can I see where Soft said to do what you said. He said you can discuss the general issue on the forum. Unless I am going blind, no where did he request that YOU DO DISCUSS IT HERE. From Soft's archiving of the Jira :- "In the forum, you can propose and explore rules that may make you more comfortable in SL, and you can highlight existing concerns as examples. – Soft" I simply brought that to people's attention, as a number of attempts to discuss these issues here have already been moderated (or AR-partied) out of existence. And frankly, your opinion of me concerns me not at all...
