  2. @kattatonia im not sure if im allowed to do so, but ill give you some examples: you can find 2 examples in the thread "So all criticism of Viewer 2 is gone with the new system?" one "criticizes" search to promote Phoenix and another is promoting dislike on Viewer 2 as "too bad" to promote Phoenix. @Rolig I want this argument to be forgotten too, the Phoenix vs Viewer 2, but i dont see it happen. it seems like this argument is still going. this is unhealthy to Second Life in general, promoting a war between viewers, diminish one to promote another. i could stay silent about it and let it happen or i can bring it to notice and maybe that technique could be considered griefing or spam and something can be done about it. can it be considered spam?
  3. @Dante how many threads has been started containing negative propaganda against the Phoenix viewer? (this is not an anti-Phoenix viewer thread, this is against the technique to promote Phoenix.) what misinformation has been said against Emerald/Phoenix? that Emerald launched a DDOS attack against someone who showed that they were secretly storing users data? @Kaiser thank you for your fair review, im sure Moreland Grove viewer is a great viewer to use. @Rolig yes, it is like the Mac vs. PC argument, fortunatly those differences are mostly forgotten. this is exactly the type of mentality that is unhealthy, for one to win the other has to lose. different viewers can co-exist together and every user has a choice to use the one they prefer the most. the culture of bashing Viewer 2 by some Phoenix users as propaganda for their viewer is unhealthy. @Eric i am not criticizing Phoenix, its a great viewer with great features, what i am criticizing is the technique of promotion that some Phoenix users have, to promote hate against Viewer 2 and offer Phoenix as a solution. @Deej I think you do have your reasons, there is always something positive and something negative on everthing, when you start seeing only the negative, then you are unfair and not seeing clearly. @Ossian i am not allowed to say names, but some users here, you may be able to identify some, will add a negative comment against viewer 2 like "i hate it" (is this construcive criticism?) following by a Phoenix ad. this type of spam has been going on since the old forums. its about time to get rid of those spammers too.
  4. haters of Viewer 2 will always hate Viewer 2 no matter what, to unreasonable levels if necessary, they love to spread misinformation, and if they are caught, they say they were "misinformed", one common technique is to claim that they are forced to do something when obviously its a choice, to propagate fear against Linden Lab, this is a very popular culture spread specially between Phoenix users, i wonder if this culture against Linden Lab is encouraged by the Phoenix developers. it seems like there is a band of Phoenix users dedicated to diminish every new feature and encourage hate against Viewer 2 so that their viewer would be more popular. you can spot them in that in most of their "criticism" (negative propaganda) against Viewer 2, they will add a Phoenix ad in their comments, they don't have to be specific about any feature of Viewer 2 to promote hate against it, they can just post that they hate it and its bad following by a Phoenix ad at the end. is this the marketing technique that Phoenix has to promote itself? a constant griefing against Linden Lab and Viewer 2 users? this negative propaganda technique is specifically of Phoenix, how come we never see Dolphin's or Kirsten's users come and "criticize" Viewer 2 and then add an ad of their viewer? can something be done against their spam and griefing? way to go with the negative propaganda, its the only way Phoenix would become more used.
  5. haters of viewer 2 will always hate viewer 2, to unreasonable levels if neccesary, and they love to spread misinformation, like they are being forced to do something when they have a choice. its a very popular culture spread specially between phoenix users, it kind of makes them feel good with themselves, elevates their selfesteem as part of the phoenix team. i wonder if this culture against linden lab is encouraged by the phoenix developers. it seems like there is a band of phoenix users dedicated to diminish and encourage hate against viewer 2 so that their viewer would be more popular. you can spot them in that in most of their "criticism" (negative propaganda) against viewer 2, they will add a phoenix ad in their comments. we dont see dolphin or kirsten's users come and "criticize" viewer 2 and then add an ad of their viewer. way to go with the negative propaganda, its the only way phoenix would become more used. phoenix vs. linden lab. guess who is going to stand at the end? some said emerald...
  6. simple minded people dont like complexity. they just want to chat and walk, the fewer buttons as possible, they have computers and the only thing they do with it is chat and listen to music. they dont dig deeper and they are comfortable with it. complexity scares them away. some residents that have been in sl are not remotely interested on bulding anything, or coding anything, or creating nothing, they are the audience of the creators. simple mind people like simple things. advanced mind people will just change the button next to the log in fields. many software uses that division, for example nVidia drivers and ESET Nod32.
  7. why are we complaining that the official second life viewer doesnt have the features of this third party viewer or that other one? there is a lot of third party viewers that will fit your tastes from Restrained Life to Phoenix to Kirsten's and others more. and you can do your job in them. you remember what those viewers are? they are tweaked official linden lab viewers. if it wasnt for the flexibility that the official viewer offers we wouldnt have that variation of choices that fill our taste, the official second life viewer is a base where third party developers work on, if they want to transform it oriented to graphics they can or for building, or whatever the goal of the developers is. the official viewer must remain a base viewer. with enough flexibility in customization as to permit viewers like firestorm and kirsten's to exist. the viewer that the beginner must face when starting is the basic one, because we dont know how smart the new user is is, it may change into advanced and change back again to basic scared (i shouldnt have touched that thing). if a user likes control it wouldnt be hard to find out how to change to advanced and be happy. if the user has the technical mind of seeing if there are mods for the viewer, that want an experience beyond of what the software offers, they will find the third party viewers and be happy.
  8. a trademark doesnt have to be fixed, it could be flexible, with certain features that are allowed to be modified and some fixed ones. just like a trademark, some of us have certain parts of our avatars that we never change (once it gets to its final stage), and others that we change more often, i think we all are our own trademarks, we preserve certain characteristics that make us unique, that represent us. our avatar is our trademark.
  9. there are two ways to update your flash player, some internet browsers update it internally while others you have to download a file to update. for example, Internet Explorer does it internally while Firefox requires the download. try to update flash those two ways. another thing that could be happening is that you dont have activated flash inside the viewer. to do this, go to preferences ( ctrl+p ) the go to "Setup" tab, and you will find under the "Web" section what technologies you would like to have activated in the viewers browser, under "Use built-in browser", check "Enable plugins" because flash is a plugin, i also recommend activating javascript, because it enables some essential functions like Search. Cookies are useful to keep you log in to certain pages or that some pages keep your preferences.
  10. the teen grid no longer exist. 16+ years old are on the main grid now. they are in the G rated sims only. we have display names. that means that if you wish to change your name to something else, you can. now, a display name is not the same as your account name, your account name is Tabitha Caligari and it always going to be, your Display Name (the name that it will be display to all users) could be anything you want. you can change it once per week on your profile page. user profiles move to the web. you can see yours at http://my.secondlife.com/tabitha.caligari downloading the last version of viewer 2 will update you with all the new features. M Linden quit as CEO in the middle of 2010, and Philip Linden came back temporarly while they search for another CEO, and at the end of 2010 a new CEO was found, Rod Humble (Rodvik Linden), who was vicepresident of the best selling PC game in history. new residents no longer have last names. that was eliminated from account creating. Emerald (maybe you know that third party viewer) no longer exists. Linden Lab banned them from accesing Second Life because they commited a denial-of-service attack (which is a federal crime) using their users as weapon against someone who discovered that they were secretly collecting users data. some members of the Emerald team quit and formed a new third party viewer called Phoenix, almost identical to Emerald. in a year, very interesting things have happened.
  11. i am pro-justice, and yes, if anything can help improve our justice system, im up for it. what can we do: i suppouse sending a letter saying that we want a better justice system woould not be enough. sending it with some proposals would be better heard. now, Linden Lab is passing thru an economic difficulty, so having more people to review banned people will be a little difficult, they are paying for programmers, maintenance people, customer support, etc. hiring more people to review the cases doesnt sound like a close solution, not unless they pass this economic crisis. because of the lack of people assigned to review abuse reports, a complain can take long to be reviewed. another solution would be for those employees to have better training, very clear and rigid rules to identify if someone brakes the TOS. in the case of the person who was griefed and griefed back in defense, in a perfect justice system both would be banned.
  12. i think we already have a system in which banned users can appeal the case.
  13. that was an amazing movie, the soundtrack was perfect, it represented clearly the tought process, when you start getting all things together slowly.. and then an idea comes out, you know the way, and your mind accelerates almost chaotic but you know where are you going, then you get the result... or another roadblock.. and the mind slows down again to check the data... it had a significant impact in my life too... (im still sure there is a pattern...)
  14. this is a nice day to revisit one of my fav movies
  15. @Mags how about muting the spammers to everyone? the spammers would see their spam all over the forums thinking that he made it, but nobody would see it, and he will not be encouraged to create a new account thinking he is being succesful. that could work as some sort of control of trolls, they will continue creating posts and threads and wondering why nobody answers back... @Carole welcome back! awesome to see you again!
  16. aqui esta el sitio web: ( https://www.paypal.com/mx/ ) solo necesitas clickear el boton naranja que dice Registrarse y sigues las instrucciones.
  17. its a Win-Win-Win situation Linden Lab wins because every merchant would want to be in the Marketplace. selling spots and advertisement on Marketplace will boost immensely. Merchants win, because their products are offered to every user, all Second Life could potentially become aware of your product and buy it. Customers win, some will just discover a great service and start exploring it, they will have the convenience of shopping right there.
  18. yes, having the Marketplace as a tab in the search window could be the start of something great. merchants earnings would duplicate immensely so it will be very worth to invest in having your items on sale in the Marketplace, and we finally would have a mass media to advertise our products.
  19. pioneeers were killed by the ones that adapted earlier, the pioneers were used to another environment, and a small group of them survived.
  20. the ones that adapt earlier end up being more developed to fit to the new environment, while the last ones to evolve may find the survival of the new environment more difficult, and they are easy pray for the developed ones, and they go extinct.
  21. yo nunca he hecho eso pero muchos pagan por medio de paypal. si puedes usar paypal desde mexico, puedes pagarle por alli a Linden Lab.
  22. history has teach us a valuable lesson: you evolve and adapt to the new environment, or you get extinct.
  23. shopping on the Marketplace has the benefits that you dont have to walk around buildings to find the item you saw advertised, and you dont have to deal with lag, also many users use the Marketplace search features such as the categories, price range, prim count and permissions to pinpoint exactly the item they need. this idea will improve search, the results of places will not get confused with the results of products, refining search even more.
  24. if you had a chance to have a conversation with the President of the World Bank, what would you ask? what would you say? now you have your chance, Mr. Robert B. Zoellik is coming to Second Life to converse with all of us, he will be here this wednesday, march 9 2011, at the University of Delaware ( http://slurl.com/secondlife/University%20of%20Delaware/56/152/27 ) at 12:45pm here is a link to the official announcement ( http://sl.nmc.org/calendar/2011/03/robert-b-zoellick-a-conversation-with-the-world-bank-global-agenda-ud-march-9/ )
