  1. With the ambiguous title and intro, I thought it was going to go the way of that other thread. You know the one where the guy said he pooped his pants at the alter lmao.
  2. Just listening to a White House press briefing tells all. Most of the reporters in that room that ask questions daily just make me cringe. The bias, idiocy and the serious lack of any sort of professionalism is mind blowing.
  3. I really don't remember specifically unfortunately. I just recall having read some older event rules and having had conversations with some of my creator friends that have helped to shed light on a lot of event shenanigans. No doubt, the blame is also on vendors which falsely advertise exclusivity but without the intent on making the item truly exclusive.
  4. In the past, some vendors skated around the rule by releasing the item at a much later date. Today however, many just ignore the rule all together. Meanwhile, the event organizer looks the other way and its business as usual.
  5. I couldn't agree more. Events had their time. Due to complacency, many events (including some of the top tier events) have lost their luster. What some business owners need to know (that the venue owners don't want you to know) is that they really don't need the venues to be successful. They just think they do. I go to an event to buy an item from a designer I follow. If they weren't at said event, I wouldn't go. It's just that simple. If anything, that designer should be doing a lot more to drive business back to their mainstore. Releasing all of your products at an event is just contradictory to achieving that goal. With that said, I still believe they serve a purpose. Either to gain exposure, remain in the public eye (out of sight, out of mind) or in some cases to reinvigorate an age old brand that may have left the scene for awhile.

    Am I crazy?

First and foremost, I am so sorry this happened to you. Even if this deal had been legitimate, the creator was in fact wrong. So I am going to have to disagree with those that said otherwise. The OP did not state that the final product should be delivered to his business partner, but rather that his partner was going to re-texture the build. The person who is paying is generally the principle client. So unless otherwise instructed to do so, that is who should be receiving the final product. In this case, the creator should have provided him a copy as he was the principle client (again, if this has been legitimate). These forums are a great resource for those wanting to learn more. in fact, many of the people I'd call regulars here on the forums own successful businesses who are always willing to give their valuable insight for absolutely nothing in return. I do have a question though. Have you since spoken to your partner, or are you aware of him having been online? You are absolutely right though. These two individuals could be the same person.
  7. I noticed this too, but a lot of his answers didn't seem to have much texture and I don't think it was as a result of him trying to be deceptive (I could be wrong though). Even his response to Adult content, while answered directly (no change), was very lackluster. He didn't seem like a very poignant and versed public speaker IMO lol.
  8. In my own experience outside of SL, having acted in different levels of management, disconnects are all too common(top down management). This isn't an inherit issue birthed by LL. The decisions often made by top brass seemingly make no sense, or are perceived as counterproductive to those on the front lines. As users of the platform, we're on the front lines. We're seeing the result of their actions first hand. So this is an all too familiar experience. It is this disconnect that creates an opportunity to make decisions which may be seen poorly by the community and only further enhanced by those directly affected by any suggested changes. This is exactly why a survey is needed. All we can do then is hope that a balance is made between what is good for the users and good for the company. When is any community ever welcoming of a fee increase of any kind, especially when it involves directly influencing income. So they don't have to convince me of anything, cause they never will. Unless of course you're privy to a balance sheet, you're likely never going to know where and how your money is spent, so all of this talk about evidence is just white noise. We can provide appropriate feedback where applicable, see what the fee is and then it will be up to the individual to do what is in their best interest. That is the bottom line.
  9. It is unique to him ... ahh, agh, uh-huh. lol
  10. Hard evidence? When was the last time you were given hard evidence to warrant a fee increase of any kind. It doesn't happen. So enjoy the long wait. Fees go up all the time without explanation, and just because a company is profitable, doesn't mean they are willing to give you a free lunch. It sucks (I agree), but that is reality. I am not stupid, I am a realist. I don't welcome a fee increase, but the real question becomes what are you going to do if you don't have it your way. When LL says the update will be better for vendors, it doesn't necessarily mean that every store on the MP will see a sales increase. It means that we will have a MP with more functions. Although I'd suspect that some vendors might see an increase if non supported listings are removed, and as more buyers are exposed to listings that they may not have seen before due to any number of reasons like, relevance, gacha, etc. Of course that figure cannot be quantified, but it will help give the business to those currently still active. The MP is far from perfect, but it is a reliable platform. It's just starting to show its age. Going as far as saying it is "barely functional" is a bit of a stretch. I have always been able to find what I was looking for and make a purchase without issue. I thought Ebbe was quite transparent, even when questioned about things such as land prices in the face of lower hosting costs.
  11. The survey is a great idea and it would give more creators the opportunity to have a voice outside of the bubble here. At the same time, the feedback (survey) could add invaluable context that numbers on a spreadsheet could never reveal. I think it has been universally agreed upon, that Sansar has a different target audience, so it would also be perfectly reasonable to suggest that the fee's associated with merchants doing business in either platform could be different. I would think LL is aware that any drastic fee changes could have profound effects on the economy, and at this stage; those changes must be made with care. An increase to 30% IMO seems very unlikely at this juncture. The fee increase is going to help supplemental the cost of development for the new marketplace and diversify LL's revenue stream which is desperately needed if we're trying to create a healthier platform which is more easily sustainable. That benefits us all.
  12. I know its not official, and not your own suggestion, but this too would be a horrible idea. They really need to start thinking outside of the box and look at creating perks that can both benefit consumers and creators. Priority entry and extra group slots are two good examples of this. Why not do something like a lottery, profile customization options, a subscription box with gifts made by our own content creators, and the list could go on and on.
  13. 100% agree Penny. It seems LL has good intentions, but as they say "the pathway to hell is paved with good intentions." They really need to tread carefully or they could potentially end up alienating a portion of their userbase. The last thing they should do is play this out like a pay-to-win scenario, where it becomes more of a requirement, rather then a benefit.
  14. I wish more vendors did this kind of add-on. I always hated how the chest looks on the HG body, the breasts always looked blocky to me and unfortunately the add-on doesn't seem to help that much. I'd definitely go smaller on my other bodies if the breasts didn't look totally inverted into my chest at anything below a 30 lol.
  15. No, it generally means that someone is overly concerned with minute details. Sometimes it does, but sometimes the context or message can be lost (big picture) when people become too focused on any one specific detail and fail to recognize how it fits into the greater message.
  16. I have a lot of close friends in world, people that I have known for years that still don't know my first name, nor do I know theirs. I prefer to keep RL separate from SL for the most part, and outside of answering a few basic questions, that's where I prefer to leave it. I think you had an issue with it because you questioned their intent. Its kinda like some random guy giving you a compliment and you know what's probably coming next. I especially enjoy the sneak in questions, as if to mask their true intentions. It is a an obvious dance and I see it coming from a mile away. Most of the time I end up blocking them right away, on occasion I call them out on their lackluster attempt.
  17. Your suggestion might seem to make a lot of sense, but the reason why those other platforms succeed in this role, is primarily due to the size of their user-base (they have a large reach). Flickr, for example, is a popular medium because it is visual, free to join and they have an App. In comparison, the forums would be a less then efficient way of gaining exposure and I'd suspect that it would eventually just turn into a sea of threads, with many brands getting lost in the shuffle. In other words, the audience you should be advertising too is elsewhere, and based on the tools other platforms have, it would just become redundant and IMO not very impactful.
  18. Also keep in mind that your windlight, combined with the use of other light sources can drastically alter the appearance of the skin. Your photo also appears to be overexposed. Are you also wearing a facelight? I'd also refrain from buying any shapes from someone that does not offer a demo unless its a must have, or you don't mind shelling out for something that might not give you the results you were looking for. In those cases, I'd suggest contacting the seller directly, if they do not want to provide a demo; could they at least show you what the shape looks like as advertised in world?
  19. I don't think Drake was advocating against a name change, that was someone else. The real question they are posing is, what happens when the creator isn't there to put the wee rumor to bed. His example was to illustrate how someone poorly modified his item, which then resulted in creating a negative association with the brand. Hopefully they disregarded the name, but It is these kinds of situations that are hard to quantify in terms of sales gained and or lost.
  20. The 30-day is a prerequisite for many employers and for good reason. It is simply a process of elimination and for all of the points I made in my last post. God forbid someone has to wait 30-days and be relied upon to act in good faith as a brand ambassador for a business which may be well established. They don't know you, nor do they know your intentions and for many of them. they've heard it all before. It isn't personal, and they aren't saying they're not interested. It is a process ... With all due respect to the OP, they don't even know what they don't know yet.
  21. That is definitely one way of looking at it. I don't think the reason to want to modify an item is snobbish; not at all. There is also another reason why some people create, and that is for themselves. They create items they want to see in world and share it with the grid "as-is" in the form of a business. So you may pay for the creator's ability to make things you couldn't, but that item wasn't specifically made for you and may not always suit your purposes. Thankfully, in certain market segments, finding something else that will work isn't always impossible.
  22. I prefer to have mod privilege for anything decor related. I enjoy being able re-purpose and customize those items to suit my needs. So I can relate to the wishes of those in this thread that want more access to product which was mod, but at the same time, I can also respect the will of some creators that only wish to release a product that isn't (it is after all, their creation and if it is a product I adore, I am thankful they made it).
  23. I started out a little bit behind, but I finally crossed the finish line. Now to find a suitable title ... If anyone has any suggestions???
