So what changed in the Terms of Service?
Indy Melody replied to Lucia Nightfire's topic in General Discussion Forum
And the other rambling thought I had that got lost when they spilt this topic had to do with the modesty panels that is now required for child avatars. For me, I have always thought of anyone under the age of 12 and younger is a child. I have always thought of anyone between the ages of 13-19, I considered a teen (teen is part of the number as fifteen). In SL, because anyone 18 and up is considered an adult, then in SL, I consider anyone presenting themselves as an avatar 12 and under in age is a child and anyone presenting themselves as a teen is between the age of 13-17. So in regards to modesty panels for child and teen avatars, seems like the child body creators could make the bodies that are wearing something like with a sleeveless onesie built in. You put that body on, you're covered automatically by the modesty panel. Skins are usually made for a specific body and most time by the body creators. So if a child body is purchased, they could get a sample of addition skins that also have modesty panel built in. (I still question if upper chest area modesty panels are needed for male avatars.) I kinda think why this is being done is because if there is nothing for pedo's to come into Second Life to even see on child avatars they won't stick around and then cause actual pedo type activies and problems for LL. I knew of a world that got shut down once due to a pedo that took it to real life. Info I heard was the US FBI took theeir servers and shut them down. This could be the very thing we would hate to see happen to SL. -
So what changed in the Terms of Service?

Some random thoughts I've been having. First, in looking at LL Region Rating system it states: "Second Life's Moderate designation accommodates most of the non-adult activities common in Second Life. Dance clubs, bars, stores and malls, galleries, music venues, beaches, parks, and other spaces for socializing, creating, and learning all support a Moderate designation so long as they do not host publicly promoted adult activities or content and do not use adult search tags. Groups, events and classifieds that relate to this broad range of activities and themes generally should also be designated as Moderate. Residents in these spaces should therefore expect to see a variety of themes and content. Stores that sell a range of content that includes some "sexy" clothing or objects can generally reside in Moderate rather than Adult regions. Dance clubs that feature "burlesque" acts can also generally reside in Moderate regions as long as they don't promote sexual conduct, for instance through pose balls (whether in "backrooms" or more visible spaces). However if any of these businesses uses adult-oriented search tags, the region may be categorized as Adult and blocked from appearing in non-Adult search." It has been well established by LL that adult activities need to be behind closed doors and not readily available for view say from a public LL roadway in a moderate region. It shows this under Linden Lab Official:Adult Content FAQ and for moderate regions it states: Is simple nudity without sex Adult? Depending on context, nudity may not require an Adult rating. For example all of the following could be rated Moderate: A nude beach without sexual activity. Skin vendors showing a nude skin to display the product. Nude art that is not sexual. Strip clubs that do not use adult words in search or host sex furniture. Depending on the context, exposed genitalia may not be considered Adult. For example: Hanging out at a nude beach would be fine. Walking around pants-less on the mainland could be inappropriate. Non-sexualized depictions of nudity are Moderate NOT Adult. Understanding these should therefore mean it is reasonable and can be expected to be found in Moderate Regions. -

sighs. Sometimes I think that although some people have been in Second Life for years and years and years, they have never really taken the time to actually read all of the TOS and other guidelines that are available to them. -

If you are a child avatar, you are ok in a General Region no matter what. Naked Adults in a General Region would be the ones AR'ed. Given that Moderate regions are regions where nudity can happen in open areas, the as LL has stated, child avatars should consider using other avatars than a human child avatar to go to those moderate regions. Seems simple to me -

Hi Quartz, I submitted a posting apparently right when you moved things around. Can you tell if it went through or is lost? -

I can't help but wonder if some might have missed this in the LL clarification of policy of disallowing *** in the bottom section listed as Discussion: In some cases there may be an element of subjectivity as to whether an avatar (or other image) appears to be a minor. Objective factors which will be used to decide include whether an avatar has childlike facial features, is child-sized, has clothing or accessories generally associated with children, and whether, based on the circumstances, an avatar is speaking or acting like a child ("My Mommy says..."). Note: Merely having a childlike avatar does not violate this policy. It is not our intent to banish childlike avatars in and of themselves. If you are in doubt as to whether an activity may be interpreted as **, we request you err on the side of caution and desist. Please note that some countries' laws may impose penalties for graphics, drawings, or anime that resemble child pornography, even where no children have been involved. To report a violation of the policy, select Help > Report Abuse in the Second Life Viewer and follow the instructions given. It appears to me that it covers a lot of the points being discussed in this forum topic. -

I would say under 18 avatar. The teeth braces, the teddy earrings, the ruffled top. Those things to me on that avatar make me think it's on the childish side. -

My thoughts on meeting the modesty layer requirements for the area that needs to be covered as described by this TOS change: Child avatars where the focal point of the body is on the b (on the chest), pelvis, or b_tocks Pelvis: The pelvis is the lower part of the trunk between the abdomen and the thighs B_tocks: The b_tocks are two rounded portions of the exterior anatomy of most mammals, located on the posterior of the pelvic region B (on the chest) is where I do question. Because it is normally accepted for male chest area to be exposed (child or adult). Do male child avatars need a modesty layer there also? Does there need to be a seperate consideration for female child avatars meaning those not presenting in their teens? Will they need that modesty layer there if the male child avatar does not? I am referring to ones playing younger than teens. I would think that female teens should have the front chest modesty layer. -

One thing I would like to know is will they remove from the grid any child avatar from peoples inventory that does not meet the new TOS and other such items. They do have the ability and right to do so. -

I hope all those talking about how much they have invested in SL realize that at any time SL servers can be shut down when LL decides to just not want to put up with all this anymore. -

I have known someone who got banned for AP. In fact, she told me she got banned 3 times. She just kept coming back creating a new avatar, and set it up as a child avatar. She said it was her way of dealing with the S abuse she had suffered in RL. Wasn't long after the fourth avatar was banned. -

Ok, so in reading the clarification policy, my take would be child avatar creators will need to make the chest, pelvis and buttocks just smooth, no detail areas. Then the skins they make will need to have a baked on the skin layer panties that cover the pelvis and buttlocks. If the chest area has no areola or nipples, would the chest area still need a baked on modesty chest band? Seems like then, BOM itmes could still be used such as underpants, panties, tank tops that can hide the baked on modesty layers as well as the other child clothing. -

One time I met a newbie that was wearing one of those newbie avatars looking like an adult. She was asking me questions about getting started in SL. After a few minutes, she started asking me how she could get pregnant and have a baby in SL. All she wanted to do was that. The more the conversation went on, her speech pattern became more immature sounding to me. I did the unthinkable, and asked how old she was in RL. She replied she was 14. I would like to see better means to protect the adults in SL from the RL children that make accounts to join SL. -

Bellisseria's 5th Anniversary Celebration!
Indy Melody replied to PrudenceAnton's topic in Linden Homes
I would like to offer a tip on the Bellisseria 5th Swaginator Hunt. To do the hunt, in the SSPBA 4 regions, find the bus benchs. On them you will find a picture of places in Bellisseria that are teleporters to those locations. Some are interesting places, but others will take you to where the Swaginator Prize givers are. -
Looking at that picture, I think I see an arched wooden door and arched windows along with the square windows. So I am thinking it is similar to the Spanish Colonial Revival Home. Spanish Colonial Revival is an expression of the architecture brought with the Spanish when they explored the Americas. In 1915 the Panama-California Exposition in San Diego featured several exhibit halls built in this style, which sparked its popularity. Originally found in Florida and California, it quickly spread around the United States.

Is anyone else having issues with login to RC channel regions? I am getting this error: Never mind: Grid status just updated: Investigating - Some Second Life services are currently experiencing an outage. During this time, some Second Life services may be unavailable including, but not limited to: logging into the viewer or Marketplace, purchasing L$, and making USD transactions. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Please monitor this blog for additional updates.

Water Ripple missing in second life as of yesterday.

This happened to a friend of mine. I can say this happened a week ago. Her message to me: [2022/08/17 10:47] J* D*: Can you help me I lost my linden ocean wave movement [2022/08/17 10:47] J* D*: the water is like calm glass. -
I filed a ticket back in October 2020 on this same question because I own all of Uli (General) Region except for LL Protected Land. This is the response I received back: Hi Indy Melody, Thank you for your support ticket and your patience! Unfortunately, we are not able to change the maturity rating on mainland regions. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. If there is a moderate area that is currently abandoned I would be happy to help you look at the possibility of doing a swap over. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Regards, Whitney Linden Land Product Specialist Linden Lab

I hope it gets to stay. It's the most creative use of a Linden home I have ever seen and offers a fun activity for entertainment.

I was touring the Newbrooke region today trying to decide if I wanted to get a home there or not. I must say I found this one totally amazing build that really impressed me. I believe it used the Denver on a 1024. Not going to say where I found this and I am afraid it might get blown up by the Moles, but it really is something to see. Wish I could post more pictures. It actually has two lanes for bowling.
