  1. This does sound like a scam to me too. I'm assuming that this is a promotion group which charges you to join so that you can post group notices about product releases? I'm a member of a few, and have never been charged additional fees for an issue like this, or heard of this happening before. Rights to make new notices don't just disappear afaik, and if the group owners did "accidentally" change the roles, it would be a simple matter to reset them. (edited to add inverted commas around "accidentally")
  2. While the roads can be fun to travel, I agree that there's lots of random higgeldypiggeldy along much of them. It seems to be worse where the roads cross sims on the diagonal, and cause lots of little zigzag blocks that are tricky to terraform nicely. Some of us hide off the road a little bit, and enjoy easier-to-terraform blocks. You are always welcome to visit sunny Sinaburoe. We are very pleased with our gardening efforts down there, and never mind travellers, despite being half a sim back from the road.
  3. Considering how few people actually bother to rate items even when everything is perfect, one unfair review would do untold damage. I always check reviews, and will ignore a single lambasting if there are enough positive ones to balance it out.
  4. I'm sorry this is happening to you, as it must stick in your craw a bit, after so much work. I don't envy the creators of full perms packs their position at all, as this kind of bad behaviour is always possible. I agree that ARing the use of your vendor ad might be a good beginning, as that's just a tacky thing for her to do. In future, you could include a EULA, and have it as part of the purchase agreement, so that it can offer you better protection (and protection for your other customers who also purchased to resell in good faith). If you want to be credited as the designer of the rays, or set standards such as how much your work must be altered before resale as someones "original" work, or what the minimum resale price must be, you'd have to have customers read this and understand that it's part of the agreement between you both if they purchase from you. Good luck!
  5. I went through this recently as well..isn't it brilliant! Like a whole new world. I ran around my garden...just simply looking and gawping, as I never could appreciate it before. I leapt all over the place for a week, and still do, just for the sheer joy of seeing my little body flinging itself about like a spring lamb at 30 fps rather than 3. I run backwards and forwards over sim crossings just for the hell of it. My second stop was Chakryn Forest, because I wanted to see it on not-low settings, and with a decent draw distance. So I went to ultra, ticked all the ticky boxes to say yes I want this, clicked "apply" and was floored by what I'd been missing. Then I logged on all my alts at once for a group photo opp. What a gruesome bunch (shudders at what a mistake that was) Hopefully, I won't stop appreciating this.
  6. It's good to keep the clutter down. I find keeping it below 15,000 (although I just had it sneak over 16,000 so can't brag) has helped me get about smoothly. I swear that sim crossings are easier with less baggage to swap from server to server. Some ideas are- Box up stuff, and put it into an old chest, and leave it at home. Who needs 5,000 freebie sculpts going with them everywhere they go? If you build, get a SALT hud from the Marketplace, and box your megaprim collection. With things like hairs, box the colours and sizes you don't wear. Make themed notecards, and store your landmarks on them. Do the same for your notecards. Sort your inventory by file name rather than date, and delete duplicate things. Landmarks and unpacker scripts have an uncanny way of multiplying while you aren't watching. Put your building textures into a texture organiser (I keep intending to get around to this one day myself) Alts are a good for extra storage space. If you run a business, use an alt to store full-perm backups/archives of your creations/textures. Stupid question now I'm thinking...Is it possible to box or notecard calling cards? I have thousands, and don't want them neccessarily deleted.
  7. I know your stuff, Mila, and it's great! I think we might be near-neighbours on a few sims. I have to agree with you about the hostile customers, and they are the worst thing to happen. I've had two, ever, and both had made errors because they had not waited for information to rezz, or had not read information. (Information that does not confuse hundreds of other customers.) However, despite everything I do for them, and after all politeness, both accused me of dishonesty. It can be heartsickening when you meet with sheer rudeness, because someone thinks you scammed them out of their $1.83, and they want to make your week hell for it. Anyway, two weirdos in 3 1/2 years of happy sl commerce is not a bad ratio.
  8. Ahh but black is so slimming..and when the sliders wont go down any more, it's the last trick in the book.
  9. Bummer...this must be the only survey I never took....(*tch* typical) And I only ever do them because something twisted in me wants to see what questions are being asked, and how, and so I'm compelled to answer just so I can get to the next page.
  10. Both good points, Randall. I've lived in the same bit of mainland for over 31/2 ish years and to me it really is home. Noone else (apart from LL) can flip out, change their minds about being in the landlording business, and eject me from my home. The no-covenant thing is what I love and also what I hate. The price you pay for not having a covenant is that nobody else has a covenant. It's just up to us falliable humans to make it work.
  11. Thanks for so many great answers! I've really enjoyed reading them, and you have all cured me of the severe bout of spammer rage I had last night. I suspect that many of us are creators first and foremost, through our love of bringing what's inside our heads out into world, and merchants by proxy afterwards. I find the creation process to be completely absorbing, and just love getting into that vibe. On the other hand, many of the tasks involved with selling can be sheer tedium. I don't know of anyone who really enjoys setting and checking perms, boxing, making demos, listing things on Marketplace, and sending notices. I do have to admit that just sometime, I find the monotonous chores to be relaxing. Despite this, being a merchant can be oddly absorbing. I love reading blogs on how to improve practises and putting them to work, and coming up with new ways to improve how my shop works. I love setting up new stores, and preparing for fairs. I will never complain about making an income either, as that part's a big plus. The best thing for all of us I notice is how great it is when a customer says "hello..I just love what you do". Nothing tops that.
  12. Thanks so much....It's nice to come back this morning and see the normal nice forums back again
  13. Interesting responses- and I agree that good fashion is like art that you can enjoy all day long, in either universe. Nothing can lift my day quite like a decent pair of shoes and a beautifully textured scarf. Rhonda..I'm laughing at your answer..I bet you always have "Show Look At" on to check if you're making the right splash, lol. I was in a horrid funk too, when starting this thread..it was an act of desperation after seeing every single section of the forum full of Our Favourite Spammer, and I just wanted to quickly do something to squash it down past the most recent threads.
  14. Im going to reply to myself as i realise that tonight is a complete lost cause...the entire forum is wasted through the spammers tonight...sorry When the arsehole scammers are done , Id still like to ask this question properly, though. It's not such a bad question, when decent people get a chance to discuss
  15. May I spammingly add mine..I prefer no-huds, no-scripts, and like good old fashioned flexibility to boot. (bloody buggery that was almost the best pun I made all day, but I'm talking about shoes not boots so it doesnt count ) http://eclecticajewellery.blogspot.com/2011/04/foray-into-footwear-garden-party-shoes.html https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Eclectica-Garden-Party-shoes-lilac/2085372
  16. I'd recommend a daily read of the merchant forum here, and in another well known SL forum (can I say that here?) to stay abreast of any current issues. Plus hunt out any blogs written by others who run businesses in SL as they can really be helpful. Inworld, join business related groups, and keep an eye on the group chat, as well as ask questions there. I find people to be really helpful in most groups, if you just ask and be patient. My experience was to start simple and small, gradually add features to my business as it developed, and spend time developing networks rather than expend a lot on advertising. Others may differ When it comes to the product you have issues with, try googling it to see if there has been any discussion elsewhere. Or perhaps they have a support site? Keep contacting the creator though..they may just be away in rl for a few days.
  17. Thanks leliel. I knew I could count on someone clever to come along. I assume you mean that the low/mid/ultra settings are your graphics settings? Or can RenderMaxNodeSize be set in the debug menu? (I'll have a fiddle with my thingos when I log in.)
  18. There has also been a past jira on prims disappearing in large linksets, and this affects jewellery, hair, and other attachments. I believe that it has been fixed for some viewers, as I hadn't noticed it for a while. However, just recently, it's become an issue for me again in Phoenix, so I need to do some more reading on it. It is caused by the "rendermaxnodesize default setting" being too low, and I think this is different to the renderVolumeLOD low default issue (which is simple to rectify via tweaking the debug settings). I hope someone has some more info on it.
  19. hurrah!!..I like to hear a happy ending
  20. Too true..ongoing tier is the REAL cost of land. (hope someone desperate outbids you)
