  1. I wonder if anyone has ever trying rping a pawnshop for this situation?
  2. I just went to find the Sixty Linden Weekends link for you, as I promote through that, but it seems to have closed enrollments for vendors atm... http://world.secondlife.com/group/827f81ac-45ce-0afb-b585-74c23cb07f46 Other than that, I'd recommend taking note of what other stores are members of, and looking in the owners' groups to see what to join. You can always track down the group owners that way, and contact them. Good luck!

I have a question about building something inspired in second life. I am interested in building prefabs I find that I am inspired by a few prefabs in secondlife and I would like to do my own version of them something similar but not the same. Someday I would like to consider selling them. Of course there would be differences in the design and materials ie textures used. My question is, is it alright to do this or would it be considered a knock off and if its a knock off is that really bad? thank you As much as possible, I avoid ever going into jewellery stores, as being a jeweller I want my inspiration to come from outside of SL. I'd hate to even subconsciously be "inspired" by another SL artists work, despite admiring what a lot of my contemporaries create. If someone shows me some nice jewellery, I scrunch my eyes closed and say "lalalalala" in case I accidentally copy, even if the work is drop dead gorgeous. I don't think any of us can help being affected by rl visual influences, as hopefully as artists, we are involved in life and soak everything in..it's just that..here in the tiny SL microcosm, I'd hate to see everyone being "inspired" by other SL products. Because if that happened, the pool of genius would be rapidly self-feeding, and things would very soon turn exceedingly dull. We'd all be breathing each other's farts, so to speak. In all honesty, I highly recommend you find yourself, and your own original style. You might legally get away with changing someone else's ideas by any percentage, but hell that's no way to do it..instead, bring fresh air, and your own good self into the arena..and I bet it'll be more profitable for you in the longer term.
  4. runs in........rolls about in the grass very happily for a few minutes..........runs out again, smiling.....
  5. Ooh now they are all very nicely done. It's a joy to see
  6. For some reason, I've noticed that short-term-usage huds like shoe colour changers etc seem to go on the top left. Is it only me who notices that, or have I imagined it? It's one of the reasons I keep top left free for such stuff. Bottom centre is dashboard hud space for vehicles. They would just be silly anywhere else. Thinks.....actually, I'd love a hud to turn my entire screen into a view through a vintage car dashboard, complete with retro windscreen stickers, and fuzzy sepia-ed nostalgiac filters....(sorry....that's a tangent ) Does anyone else still have the Chou-Chou cinemematic hud? I love that thing.

And if getting rid of the junk on the marketplace (there are over 1.6 million items listed!!) helps to improve sales, they'll support doing so. So in my view this has very little to do with "high power merchants" and "the little guy". If you have something listed that you can't justify putting up a 10L a week listing fee for, maybe it's not worth having it listed at all? Speak for yourself. Businesspeople are constantly charged, and told that they are unprofessional if they complain. Because we'd hate to appear unprofessional by not wanting to pay a little more and a little more...and then next month a little more for something else. A search fee here, a listing fee there, and pretty soon our efforts are whittled to nothing. Any merchant knows how easily their listings can drift up into the hundreds, do a few sums and realise what even a 'nominal' $L10 does to their weekly budget.
  8. I try to keep them to a minimum, but have dedicated places where essentials always go (ao, mystitool, hugger), plus free places where occasional ones go (combat huds, rp meters, Skippy hud). Generally, I squish them all to one side. It's also a really good idea if your Tenderlove automatically replaces the Tiny Empires.

Josh Susanto wrote: I suppose I might be happy to hear that some of my competitors might be flakes, but it doesn't make me happy to think that people will also be less eager to purchase from me because of the actions or inactions of others. If any of you, my fellow merchants care, I'd just like to reiterate that if you are not already doing so, you are welcome to join me at any time in the effort to set maximum standards of customer service for the marketplace. If nothing else, I think we can at least do better than leave delivery failures to be resolved between customers and LL. I care, and couldnt agree more. Bad service in general makes US look bad, and undermines our customers' confidence. We know that the Marketplace problem is not of our causing, but sadly for us many of our customers do not make that distinction. Let's face it, if something is ballsed-up during a purchase (which for me luckily is pretty rare), individual merchants are the frontline for customer service in the absence of anything better or more accessable. It may not be fair, but we suffer first and most immediately when the system doesn't work. And just do it 'cause it's the nice way to play.
  10. It's quite frustrating that you can only add one item at a time to related items, and each time you need to do a new search, the results of which are lost each time. Getting it all right for a colour range of six sets means doing this 48 times. And using a template won't help as related items aren't included. I'd love to be able to select a batch, and do it in one hit.
  11. Aaaww they are just simply adorable! I want to hug them all.
  12. We really need to be able to search for either a product name, or a merchant name.
  13. hahahahah system shoes suck so much that even a bot shuns them )))
  14. lololol Marigold..I'm a goose for doing that for free! But it was fun. And I was just poking at you you nicely, Phil....I hang out in my store too, and like chatting to customers sometimes.
  15. Chelsea Malibu wrote: High traffic does not always mean sales and in fact, some of the highest traffic regions I have been on showed the worst conversions. Consider first where that traffic is coming from and why. If that traffic is due to campers and freebie shops, you wont see much in sales however, if the traffic is there for activities that take some time, you will do much better. RP sims and Sex Sims usually convert well as do high traffic malls. Clubs can be hit and miss as most of the top clubs these days with the large volume of traffic exist for the sims owners own stores or land sales. I couldn't agree more with this. I always look at traffic, and avoid high figures that come from nowhere meaningful. I avoid generic malls based around a club, as I am yet to see general club traffic convert to shopping traffic. I haven't tried the sex sim thing for one of my stores, but that's because the demographic doesn't suit my image (if I made erotic latex, yes I'd be in like Flynn, but despite vintage accessories being very alluring, they just don't cut the mustard in a general sex sim). RP sims are the best for satellite stores, I've found. If you cater for a specific time-period or -punk, find where your customers go to play and set up shop. Make it part of your lifestyle, enjoy yourself and the people you may meet. I find that they will give honest feedback, and inspire you. It's fun, and a good business choice.
  16. That's very handy to know--thankyou
  17. Um, if something has some black on it, that makes it both ninja and gothic, doesn't it? What's your complaint! (snort) (goes back to adding "wedding" to anything with some white on it)
  18. You must have been incredibly bored, as the only thing more tedious than camping must surely be watching campers. Something that used to be very fun in a perverse way was hunting for hidden campers. Pick a store with traffic of 40,000+ despite having really standard-quality goods, look on the minimap for the cluster of green blips, and go for a fly. Find the box-in-the-air and bask in the creepy silence of 20 bots all standing there doing goodness-only-knows-what for the 10 seconds before the security boots you home. Actually, I must have been really bored to do that and find it fun...
  19. Top idea! But go look at Blender, Sculpt Studio, Sculpt Crafter (did I get the name right?). These are all great examples of what we already use to make sculpties. One thing that would be very useful for us though is a tool to help us texture easily. (I know there is Maya and 3D Max, but these are pretty pricey for a lot of SL builders).
  20. I came too late to the drama here, and the entire thread passed me by as I slept (glad you found the derender for whatever the thingo was you hated), but just wanted to say that that gazebo is the best $L10 anyone could spend. Isn't it the prettiest thing to have in the garden! That's all. (smiles and runs off)

Tamara Artis wrote: And about the first thing you pointed at, yes there is a possibility i get swamped and even sick of all that shopping and reviewing, then I think I will just make a post and say that I am taking a break lol, or maybe ask a friend to help me? Hmmm good idea lmao *grin* yes..Can I be your shoe department? Everyone send me all your shoes!! (just joking) But more seriously, I do wish shoppers would take the time to leave reviews. I don't think anyone has left one for my items since Xstreet ended. I do get feedback from inworld customers, which is always appreciated, and reviews from fashion bloggers..all wonderfully helpful of course, but you'd never know from my Marketplace store that I'd ever sold anything.
  23. You can't, Elijah..I've tried, as I know this would be very convenient sometimes. You can make as many landmarks as you like, but only a single landing point. I'd try what Irene suggested, and split off a smaller parcel so that it can have it's own landing point. Or a teleport system is another way to think, perhaps?
  24. I remember reading about this when he first started using the name, and was appalled at the "gentleman's" attitude. I admire your restraint.
  25. Nice design! What grass did you end up putting in there? Is it some Kidd?
