  1. Just flew across maybe 43 sims, some minor issues with slow crossings over crowded parcels, eventually did have a similar problem to you when trying to spiral down for a very tight water landing and hit a no-script parcel on a neighboring sim but in general conditions were as I expected. I see no difference in sim crossings from how they've been at most times this year or indeed the last couple of years. Equipment: Macchi M-52 seaplane built by Pinpin Peccable, Viewer 3.5.1, leisurely cable internet with less than 2mbps throughput.
  2. Make sure you're actually logged into the Marketplace with your account. Clicking the button from the viewer doesn't always (or possibly ever) log you in automatically.
  3. Look in the upper right corner of your screen (or lower right if you've moved it) at the picture of the envelope that tells you how many notifications you've had build up - if you can get that far, that is. If it says "99+" you may have so many notifications that your viewer logs you out before it can load them all. If this is the case, as soon as you see that envelope right click it and pick "Delete all". You may have to do it more than once.
  4. Hitomi Tiponi wrote: I was about to ask the same question. Viewer 3.5.2.276129 was released three days ago and is the latest viewer in the Supported Viewers List. However viewer 3.5.1.274821 is the latest viewer now being shown on the Downloads page. Sometimes there can be a few hours between the two being kept in step, but not two days. Or maybe 3.5.2 has been withdrawn for some reason. I am having no problem running either version, and get no prompt for an upgrade. I've seen posts to the effect that new accounts can't be created using 3.5.2.Also I and apparently others have been having issues with the updated FMOD EX sound library code causing brief freezes. I've been avoiding using it because I had issues with it when it was still the beta.
  5. BR, your video is actually built into your main CPU and it's not adequate for Second Life. You might be able to get updated drivers for it that will at least allow you to run SL but you still will have very poor performance. Even an inexpensive add-in video card will make things much better for you. Natasha, please create a new post in this Answers forum rather than asking your question under someone else's question. Thank you!
  6. Go to the viewer and look at the top menus. Go to "Help" and down to "About Second Life" (or "About [name of viewer.]" You should see some arcane text and a button at the bottom that says "Copy to Clipboard." Hit that button, return to the forum, edit the post with your question and "paste" the information there. That will tell us a lot.
  7. You can't with a regular tattoo layer - the avatar skin map only includes one arm. You can try putting the graphics on transparent prims and attaching them to your arms but that's a pain.
  8. Make sure you're on land that allows you to run scripts before using the HUD's. If you can't run scripts you'll see a symbol that looks like an "S" with a diamond in the middle of it and a red "NO" symbol next to it. If you don't see anything like that you should be able to run scripts.
  9. There's a real estate company that's buying up large amounts of Mainland. The red heart is their symbol - it's graphics on a huge prim. You can show graphics instead of the ground if you place objects below a certain height above the land (somewhere between 300 - 500 meters, I think. )
  10. Darleen Emerald wrote: @ Maestro This problem is mostly fixed on the Main agni servers.......BUT Magnum RC Channel servers still have this issue. Why was this not also fixed on Magnum servers? This is the bug where you need to right click on groups of linked prims to make them visible. Toggling atmospheric shaders option in Graphics preferences will make all the prims in the entire sim visible again also. Any idea when this will get fixed? The software running on the Main Channel right now is exactly the same as it's been running since last Tuesday. Nothing the server group did this week would have affected it.
  11. bebejee wrote: Creative croups such as photography, design, build etc, should require members to contribute something atleast twice a month as mandatory to risk ejection, it would also keep us interested in participating and look forward to it, especially lazy and uninitaited people like me who need to be prodded to do things, alot of RL talent gone to waste due to lack of motivation and and no push. A decent cash prize would help too. Okay, read what you wrote. Basically, you said, "Everyone should be required to do so and so because I, personally, am a slackabones." This is not exactly an inspirational plan for many people.
  12. If the weapons themselves were banned the invisible hand of Linden Lab can and will delete them from the inventory servers, meaning that your copies would automatically disappear. However, if they're the ones I see on the marketplace legitimate versions of them are copy-only so if they were given to you from your friend's inventory instead of being bought as a gift and if your friend wasn't the creator the versions you have are probably illegal copies. That may have been what the person who told you to delete them meant.
  13. I'd recommend downloading and reinstalling version 3.5.1 if you're getting frequent, brief random pauses with 3.5.2. It already has the changes for server-side baking so you shouldn't have to upgrade for a while. File a BUG report and turn off "Download and install updates automatically" in Preferences. There should be another viewer version released fairly soon and by then we can hope they'll catch the problem in the 3.5.2 release.
  14. Okay, first of all edit your post to remove 1) the name of the other avatar in the chat and 2) the ACTIVE LINK TO THE MALICIOUS WEB SITE for crying out loud. Now you need to contact Linden Lab. In the future, never click on any links that appear in chat (like the one that you cut-and-pasted *sigh*) and never enter your username and password at a site that looks like the standard SL login page unless you arrived at it by known means.
  15. Are you seeing long (several second) freezes when you do certain things, especially calling up preferences or clicking on names in the communications panel, or are you seeing frequent short (less than a second) freezes that don't seem to be connected to anything? I've been getting the former ever since the CHUI was released and the latter only happens to me with the latest version of the viewer and appears to have to do with the viewer changing to new sound libraries. If it's the latter the freezes go away if you go back to 3.5.1 - I have a bug report in on that issue. The long pauses are also a known issue, I believe, but you probably would have seen them before the 20th.
  16. Six Igaly wrote: You would think so yes. So I checked and checked again, identical settings. To be sure I also used region settings in both viewers for the new image below. To be clear, I am not having issues. I'm just curious about why 2 viewers on one machine do not show identical graphics. If the avatars haven't moved between those pictures the camera angle you're using is different between the two pictures. On the left the avatars look smaller but the lake looks bigger. This suggests that the camera angle is more "telephoto" and is farther behind the avatars. The camera also seems lower in the left picture than in the right. I saw the same thing in the first pictures you showed. This will also explain why the water looks different - if the angles are different the water will reflect different things.
  17. You can't access SL with just a web browser - you need a separate application called a viewer. From what I can find out about Chromebooks they don't have an operating system that's compatible with any traditional SL viewers and even if they did their hardware isn't powerful enough to give you a decent experience.
  18. Judging from this and your previous post, your friend who gave you L$1000 or so has been a baaaaaaad boy/girl, or at least Linden Lab believes they have. Linden Lab occasonally takes away Lindens that they determine have been bought illegally - it probably doesn't mean you're in trouble yourself or so though.
  19. According to Firestorm support, some people who've had similar problems with the newest release had their problems solved by recreating the bridge. "Avatar" - "Avatar Health" - "Recreate LSL Bridge." You'll need the updated viewer eventually so it may be worth a shot.
  20. If you're seeing things change from a beta to when it becomes the release there must be SOME setting that's different between the two on your machine. When the beta becomes the release it inherits the settings your previous install of the release viewer had.
  21. Most security systems include a feature like that. You could set it so that it only logs visitors but doesn't warn or eject them.
  22. You won't actually have a "home" until you set one - right now your "home" isn't available because you don't really HAVE one.. Previously the viewer would drop you into one of a series of "welcome centers" which have long ago devolved into the equivalent of crack alleys outside of urban bus stations because people who think it's fun to abuse new people gravitated there to harass those sent there automatically. Now I believe the viewer just logs you into the same location you logged out of previously but the error message wasn't changed. For the time being you'd be better served by going into "Preferences" - "General" and changing "Start Location" from "My Home" to "My Last Location." To find places to explore you can try the "Destinations" button.

And the little amount that i do earn on a yearly basis isn't enough to go sue someone over. It's just a pain in the butt, this whole TOS change. And in the end. WHY? Within a few months, the people they are trying to hit (the ones that use SL for money laundering and other illegal practices) will find some kind of loophole and be right back to their old business. So the only one that got hurt was the people that have used the TPEs in the past and were happy with their service, exchanging a few hundred dollars worth of lindens they earned the honest way. Hi Eddy, As you mentionned, yes, money launderers will find some new ways to use SL to wash money from crime (and some loopholes came up into my mind about it). About merchants, well...they grumble then they adapt to the new situation, as usual (and I'm one of them I agree). PS: That's cool to see you're still one of my customers after 3 years, and with 20,700 L$ spent for my services ^^ Basic problem with your logic - you're assuming there are people who specifically "use SL to wash money." No, there are people who wash money - some of them use SL because it's the most convenient option but they don't really care about how they do it. Linden Lab doesn't have to make it IMPOSSIBLE to wash money, just less convenient than what is now the next-most-convenient option.
  24. You asked basically the same question back at the end of last year and this was my reply: -------------------------- If you want a real-fake-world rule of thumb, I suggest: Don't violate the copyright of a company in such a way that could be detected by an intern using a web browser to search the name of that product. Linden Lab generally only pursues copyright issues if they receive a complaint. If someone is selling an Audible the Groundhog avatar under that name on the marketplace, the intern from AudibleCo may see that web page pop up in a search and then tell their supervisor, who will then annoy Linden Lab enough that the product will be taken down. If you sell an avatar that looks exactly like Audible only you call him "Noisy" and let the buyers connect the dots, it's doubtful that the intern will find that ad. It's highly unlikely that the intern will delve deep into the Marketplace or, God forbid, go in world because that will probably find them getting up to something that will get them de-interned in a matter of hours/minutes. It would be like having a four-year-old watch your cookies. ---------------------------------- There, now PAY ATTENTION TO ME so I don't have to copy and paste. Here's the new part... Is it ever "okay" or "allowed" to violate a copyright? No. Is it done in SL? Yes. Does most of this do the slightest, slightest damage to the copyight holder, realistically? No. Does that make it "okay"? No. Will someone make it go away? Very doubtful if it isn't in everyone's face. Will you get in real trouble for it? Super doubtful. Does that make it "okay"? No. Will I think you're a bad person if you make a SL T-shirt with a picture of Pikachu on it without getting a license? No. Will I buy it? No. Would I buy it if it were Felix the Cat, under the same circumstances? Maybe, because Felix is cool. Would I feel guilty about it? No. Does that make it "okay"? No. Nobody's going to give you permission to violate copyright - they can't. Don't ask for it. You can ask for forgiveness afterwards. You'll probably get it. Don't count on it though. The choices are yours, grasshopper....
  25. Windows 8 is innocent for this one and Firestorm is no more guilty than any other viewer currently. There has been a longstanding problem with all current viewers not displaying some items when you first enter an area, especially if you've been there before. There was recently a change to the server software that made this problem more apparent. The fix for it is in the current Linden Lab viewer beta so it will be in Firestorm once they pick up that code change and release a revised viewer. In the meantime you can make things appear by either right-clicking on objects you know should be there or doing something that forces your viewer to redraw things - a quick way is to hit Ctrl-Shift-R, which will temporarily put you in "wireframe" view. Hitting that key combination again will turn it back off and everything will be visible.
