  1. Theresa Tennyson looks up. At airplanes. Mmm hmm.... (No, literally - I'm right by the flight path of a RL airport.)
  2. Theresa Tennyson looks at all the new no-banline, no-aggressive-orb regions added since then. Someone in a cave somewhere yelling, "Harold Forever!" doesn't mean the Normans lost.
  3. That's something that the, "People are forced to overpay to land flippers" faction are overlooking - unless they're paying a lot of attention to the market, the lots they see for sale are the ones that aren't selling. Reasonably-priced lots may have been set for sale and then sold before they could even notice them.
  4. I'm delighted with your answer, because it makes your side of the argument look like the unreasonable ones. Issac Newton called; an object using physical motion, like an airplane, can't completely change direction instantly. The "red mini-map" thing is a canard - even if you're using a viewer that shows them, they only show up when you're almost to the lot. Even five seconds of warning would, surprisingly enough, mean you'd find a lot fewer "arrogant vehicle fanatics" on your ban list.
  5. Question: (And now we're specifically talking about you, so you should be pleased.) We have a SL pilot flying an airplane. Let's say they're at 200 meters above ground level. They haven't had any sort of interaction with you. They have no desire to spend a second longer over any given lot than the time it takes to cross it at a steady pace, much less spending time on your individual lot -- let's say that the mid-twenty-teens were traumatic for them for some reason. But their flight path happens to take them over your lot. What happens, and why?
  6. Can you shoot down airplanes?
  7. Doesn't the concept of "triggering" imply a change of state?
  8. There's another surprising quality of everyday life - everything isn't about you.
  9. There's something interesting about the English language - different words have different meanings, which means they can't be exchanged willy-nilly.
  10. With a zero-second teleport home orb you'd get nowhere near the porch steps. If you bent one blade of grass you'd be blown into the next county.
  11. Now explain to us how those legal structures would apply to a zero-second teleport-home orb in the case of someone who just happened to accidentally cross an unmarked boundary.
  12. The people that do generally require intent on the trespasser's side and/or notice on the property owner's side. https://www.justia.com/criminal/offenses/other-crimes/criminal-trespass/
  13. So it's not a big complicated scheme to do something only you want. It's a big complicated scheme to do something not even you want.
  14. My understanding is there was a certain class of users who would intentionally cause problems because they wanted to be on the "police blotter."
  15. Theresa Tennyson sighs... You literally had to go past the "Updated Items" thread to bump this one.
  16. There's an "exposure" slider in graphics preferences that lightens/darkens the entire view persistently.
  17. OR... you could start a thread saying, "Why are my textures loading slowly?" Because ultimately, this is the problem. Try this - go to "Debug Settings" and then "HttpPipelining." Try changing it to "FALSE"; if it's already on "FALSE" try switching it to "TRUE."
  18. It's interesting how the "disastrous" quality of the PBR viewer became scene loading when it wasn't even mentioned at the top of the thread. "Load in a minute or two?" Read the threads about people complaining about how long they have to look at half-rendered avatars with current non-PBR viewers. I just went to a venue with 55 avatars. I'd been to it before, but over a month ago. The venue for all intents and purposes loaded instantly - I've noticed that going to new places lately. Yes, it took a while for the avatars to load; it did with non-PBR viewers. And then I was getting 30 fps with shadows on. My CPU is from 2014; my video card is a GTX 1660 NoSuffix, which is newish but very middle-of-the-road.
  19. Then why are you using them? A shape made for a system head will probably look nightmarish with a mesh head; is this the fault of the mesh head?
  20. What order did you use the viewers, and did you set up separate caches? And the "best FPS for what it's worth" - wasn't the complaint that the new viewer would make framerates unusable?
  21. It's also worth nothing that the "user" wasn't a sweet granny from Pasadena, but was Ansariel Hiller, the Firestorm developer, who was deliberately hunting an intermittent glitch. And they were getting 90 fps after the "massive performance loss."
  22. Dang, now I've got a song stuck in my head... "There was Genus, and Catwa, and no 'X' on Lara, And her latex...applier...set them all on fi-yer, Now her two slaves...in bondage...think she's from the stone age, 'Cause she still lives the dream... of twenty-seven-teen..." (Fair use parody of "1985" by SR-71 - NOT Bowling for Soup; their version was a cover.)
  23. A lot of cars use basically the same scripts and they can be adjusted. Try this: 1) Right click your car, select "Edit", and then go to the "Content tab." See if they're a lot of scripts that start with the letters "ACS." 2) If there are, back out of edit and bring up your menu by clicking on the car. See if there's a button labeled "Options" with a little diamond in front of it. 3) If you see this button, click it, then click "Controls." Now select "Gears" in the next menu. 4) You'll see a list of the gears the car has with numbers next to them, ranging from the low teens to the hundreds. Click the buttons for the gears and adjust the numbers to lower figures. 5) Test drive the car and see if that makes the car more drivable. Once you get settings you like, you can take a copy of the car back into your inventory and that car will always use those gear settings. 6) A lot of cars, especially cheap ones, have the steering set up to be too sensitive as well. You can also find a "steering" setting under "Controls" that you can adjust the same way.
