  1. Second Life; The Sims on steroids.

Petty disputes? Check. Crazy people and shenanigans all around? Check. Simply roaming around like a silly goof (AND offending someone over something minor)? Check.

This track perfectly captures the essence of Second Life. 'Browsing' everything there is to offer at a glorious discount (what cheap entertainment!). Lovely music when you smack someone with a giant *****.

I think it's coming first quarter or 2nd quarter,  covid kinda borked things.

Indeed, Covid has FUBARed pretty much everything...

A casual time in a grocery store? NOPE! Here comes the horde to stock up on things and cause traffic congestion in the isles.

... Everytime. Every bloody time I swear...

  3. One of the very few MMOs that I actually ever could get into it and say: "Yeah, I genuinely enjoy this and wish to get to know this world more". If you can get past the anime looking aesthetic (although I think this particular style looks great in the game), what lies within is a charming world based around Irish Mythology such as the tale of the Fomors.

I can't exactly describe the feeling this song gives me except I think it's the song that defined the game and became the overall main theme for me and I just feel like there's a guy standing somewhere reflecting upon life and the adventures he's had; it comes with the bitter-sweet feeling knowing the past is the past and we've had good times... and the guy's thinking about what's going on in current events.

    Relatable...

  4. Heh, depends on your definition of 'friendly' I suppose. For some of us we love a good of bit banter which can be taken the wrong way as: "Oh man that guy's an *****" when he's not; it's just his humour. ... I'd like to think maybe I can be friendly heh... as they say.

Anyways, I totally get that... alot of people going off over the smallest and silliest of things; I've noticed alot of times when you comment on their profile it offends them for some reason eventhough you're agreeing with what they said pertaining to certain things. Makes me shrug. I guess being agreeable is offensive hah. I mean, if people wanna hit me up otherwise I'd be game for it.

I could tell ya so many experiences I've had... it'd make you think you're in a alternate dimension or mental asylum at the least.

Oh yeah, some of em' have reading problems I suppose... literacy seems to be in short supply as a commodity. Whabam, thank ya mam, it's in the ham. *Winky eyes*

That said, I was once like you in the sense I'd hold back and not say much and let people approach me but you know what? Given how people are gonna judge us and whatever period and we got one life to live sod it. I've gotten ballsier these days and just IM who I think I might get along with. I got a saying: "When in doubt, yolo" but within reason ofcourse that's not to say jump off a cliff or hit someone but yeah.

Besides, who cares about status or popularity anyways? George Carlin said it best with his idea of 'The Art of not giving a *****e".

  5. You could consider the sea around the Bay City area to be a nice spot to sail. Pretty low lag with about 24 or so sims to cross making a nice long cruise rounding up to 12 or so minutes round trip. It's pretty stable with the sim crossings there too and such; I have a overall relaxing time flying and sailing that particular course. To me, areas like Bay City and other older historical areas are pretty overlooked by the masses; they need more respect.

NO WAY. I adore seeing Asian avatars!!  I hope like hell people of SL are not that shallow... I agree about the easier to make friends pre mesh body. although, before people rez.. we look quite horrifying!

I agree with you 100% (except the Asian part) I actually was throwing around with changing my look.. but then people going to be rude and ask me if I am asian and I say no Im a white girl with a big nose and.. they will be like... ***** you need to be more real ffs.... sign..

IDK.  I go to live music places and feel like I am a parasite on the floor no one talks to me, I try speaking in local... ignore... I PM a Hi, I love this music!!  .. and I get like.. I am taken, or Not interested or "grunt" .. or Do you come here often then.................................................... ..

People sadly are that shallow. We actually have people that hate elves eventhough they're just as human. In most cases you get caught as anything but human you get crap for it.

  7. Ah man, what an amazing concept I can get behind. I've been fascinated by these 'icebergs' ever since myths like the ones about Mario 64 have been around since the get-go.

There's quite a few things I'd gladly touch on such as the 'void under the overworld'; I have a pic from a few years ago where I had this vehicle that was scripted in a way to fly under it I deemed it as the 'Blue Hell' of Second Life (you know the underworld in Grand Theft Auto) and there's also what I call the 'bot phenomenon' where I've encountered many bots in SL and have been studying them for months now (it's a bigger issue than people realize).

Turns out alot of these myths were true years later such as 'L is real'. Luigi's textures were confirmed to be found in the files of Mario 64. Neat stuff truly.

    ^ This.

Comparing a jumbled pile of usermade content in a virtual sandbox is so different to a game with assets made by a triple A studio. It's like getting mad at a small family run restaurant that their food isn't the same quality as a multi-Michelin star gourmet chef's food; they're the same medium so to speak but they're nowhere close to actually being the same.

The Sims is a great example though especially when you think about the console versions of 2 that actually let you control a sim directly with a third person camera and be able to walk around and jump. Then when you take the current gen of Sims into consideration and look at the plethora of mods for the PC versions, yeah, that's way more of an apt comparison. Limited character creation and a foundation to make your own world with the option/incentive to browse playermade content for an enhanced experience outside of what the base game offers.

Yep and in general how open-ended it is where there are no clear defined goals. Only the goals the person set for themselves and that's one argument people make "A game has a clear ending" but when we look at The Sims and carefully examine it as such we realize it doesn't have any of that so to speak.

Sure you can set a Aspiration for your Sim to achieve like being a Astronaut but at the same time that stuff is optional and you can live freely in the game otherwise setting your own goals like you can live freely in SL and set your own goals there.

By definition, The Sims is a video-game that's a life simulation and this can be applied to Second Life being within that catagory. That being said, this is more like a self-imposed rule by some of the community that SL is not a game when it's not fact. If we go by the self-imposed rule definition some of the community has then The Sims would not be considered a game either in how similarly it functions to Second Life, that would not be logical.

SL is just that; The Sims on steroids, very big, potent steroids rich of protein.

In sl, "you can also build stuff, collect stuff, talk to people".

Golfing is one of many things to do inworld. Perhaps use the search function or talk to people to discover more places to go and stuff to do. Exploring is part of the fun.

SL's world is largely made by its users. It is what we make it. So if you want to see more interaction or anything else, you can make that happen.

As to that, I don't understand the logic behind the comparison anyways considering SL is grander in scope in what you can do. FO76 is far too limited to compare it to; anything you really can't compare to SL. SL is in it's own unique league like that. I would say IF anything the closest thing to SL? The Sims. I use it as a great example of how Second Life can be considered a game.

Then why not something more appropriate like a parrot?  Unlike a wolf they can talk and fly, just like your avatar.

I expect more from SL than a book.

SL could be great, but the basics like the graphics engine are a decade or two out of date.  Make it look as good as Fallout 4 (which is a brilliant adventure by the way, where you can also build stuff, collect stuff, talk to people, etc), then it will be a success.

Tell me one place that's truly interactive.  And I don't just mean the crap where you sit on a sofa and sort of kiss each other in an unconvincing manner.

Now that sounds more interesting.  Where is the golf range?

For the same reason I don't throw things away at home that I rarely use.

I moan about things that matter, not petty stuff like "Mr Smith said a rude word to me and I'm scarred for life!"

The graphics are the whole basis of the game, or would you rather go back to chatrooms in text?

I believe Fallout 4 can be multiplayer....

I asked a question of what there is to do, and have received about 4 useful answers, which I will try out someday.  It's you lot that are pathetic and get upset if I don't like every single suggestion.

It's not whining, it's providing insight into what the programmers should be doing to improve it.  Has it actually been updated apart from a few bugfixes in the last 10 years?

Real life has 100 times more things you can do, with 100 times the interactability.

Whew whee, got me there mate... well, if we're going that route I was thinking more like a fighter jet of sorts. Gotta give em' a little of that *bang bang* if ya know what I mean.
