  1. The SLM has had a very positive impact on my SL business. I would say that my sales are split about 50-50 between SLM and inworld and my inworld sales have actually increased since the introduction of the SLM. All of my products are on display and available to test inworld so I'm more than happy for people to drop by and check everything out. Having said that, if they want to buy from the SLM that's great for me as well. I think that whatever works best for the customer benefits my business. I've been fortunate in that I've only had one delivery problem (knock on wood) since the switch to the SLM. And as a side note, I do provide 100% refunds for SLM customers even though the pricing is the same as inworld. As someone else mentioned, I figure that's a business practice that works well for me. I'm replying here because I think that it's important for the merchant community to see a variety of opinions, good, bad and ugly. While the SLM is far from perfect, it's working well for me and I'm glad that customers are using it for their purchases.
  2. Thanks for setting up the jira, Etienne. This is also another illustration of the problem with Thursday deploys. Best case scenario, the marketplace is now stuck with this for the weekend.
  3. It's interesting that it works for you now, Pamela. I have found it quite stable for a while now so I wonder what the changes were that made it better for you. I do notice that they seem to change the timeframe for recent sales every once in a while and that has an effect. Sometimes it's my sales from the day before, sometimes 3 days before etc. As for Best Selling, it has never worked. The jira is here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-3140
  4. Welcome Bagman! Here's to the best years being ahead of us!!
  5. Hi Pearl You can find out about the recent changes in the Marketplace March 3, 2011 Release Notes Also, you should take a look at your inventory to make sure that everything is still listed as it should be. It seems that sometimes things drift into the unlisted category without warning.
  6. I didn't think to save a copy, but my questions were different from Pauline's. I answered the Merchant's questions and then the Creator's.
  7. My SLM sales are a lot better than my Xstreet sales ever were. I would guestimate they are about 4 times better. My inworld sales have remained about the same, maybe with a slight increase.
  8. In the top right-hand corner of the post you will see an Options drop down list. Choose Subscribe.

  10. Porky Gorky wrote: I did tests on this when I made mine. Biggest Image I could get in was 800 x 70 pixels. So that's how big mine is. Whether or not everyone can see it all I know not. I can see it all so am happy enough. I see all of yours so I'm assuming that it was auto-resized instead of cropped because when you look at its properties on the post its 750x66.
  11. I used 750x50 but I've seen some that are up to 750x66 and I don't think that they got resized.
  12. Relm Foxdale wrote: The input of a perhaps smaller time merchant... Thanks for the reply, Relm I'm guessing that there are a lot of merchants (the majority perhaps?) that are "smaller time" to use your words.
  13. @Madeliefste Kudos for following up on your education. It would be interesting to figure out how much time we actually spend learning in SL, even for the simple stuff. Then there's branching out into new areas like Mesh, quite a challenge and very time consuming if you decide to tackle it.
  14. Porky Gorky wrote: Totally agree with you Med. What would be helpful is if the moderators could inform us of why threads are deleted. At least then we could avoid making the same "mistakes" or at the very least try and make sense of their moderation. At the moment it is all guesswork. I'm surprised that it was pulled as well. I thought it was mostly lighthearted fun and a chance for merchants to reconnect in the Merchants Roundtable. Goodness knows, that sub-forum became a ghost town in the Flog. I've noticed that some moderated threads have been closed with explanations given in the last post by the moderator. As Porky says, we need to know why threads are unacceptable so we don't repeat the same mistakes.

  17. Yes, people have been commenting on it since Off Topic was created.
  18. That's the friendliest discussion title I've ever seen!! It deserves The Friendly Giant Award!!:smileyhappy:
  19. Porky Gorky wrote: Ok so I guess a more relevant question to ask now is.... As a shopped do you always use the sub category filtering when looking at larger merchants stores? Or like me do you forget or overlook the feature or simply didn't realise it was there? Thanks. As a shopper, I'm always aware that the filter is there. When I'm in a browsing mood I may look at everything but most of the time I focus on a specific sub-category.
  20. Pamela Galli wrote: Just want to say that my family all were extremely disapproving of me "becoming a computer game addict" -- but boy have they all changed their tunes now. All 100% on board. The "business" part of the job is in a way kind of fun too, because it is like playing a game -- Lindens are the points earned. This is the first job I have ever had in which if you worked extra hard and did a really good job, ppl wanted to give you more money. I think I like it. An acquaintance of mine was writing her PhD thesis on Computer-Human interaction. I mentioned that I was involved in SL and she replied that she wasn't looking into "computer games". Sigh. She did kind of perk up when I mentioned the real money aspect of it.
  21. Josh Susanto wrote: the more time i spend adding items to my inventory while i'm awake, the more money they make for me while i sleep i spend as much time on this as i like. not more. sometimes less. but the more time i spend, the more profitable it becomes to spend time, so even my wife has ceased to ridicule me for making imanary rocks and logs You have to admit that it's really hard for people (family included) to ridicule you when you're making "real" money while you sleep! The other thing that I find impresses people is the concept of limitless inventory, i.e. once it's made it's made. It's funny to see their eyes light up when they realize that.
  22. I agree, I would like to know the criteria also. Looking through my old post history, I can see a lot of threads that came from regular discussions so it wasn't just questions that were saved.
  23. That's interesting, Charlotte. I wonder if that particular thread didn't make it into the archives?
