  1. I'm working on my first mesh chair and I'm looking for advice on the best spot to put the sit script. Right now the chair has 18 mesh pieces linked together for a Land Impact of 9. In order to keep the Land Impact low I'm going to have to separate one of the pieces from the linkset and use that piece to house the sit script. I've seen it recommended to do this with the shadow piece that sits on the floor but then you would have to click on that piece to actually sit. This seems counterintuitive to me. On the plus side it might be easier to align that piece back with the chair if you make a mistake and forget to move the chair and shadow together. I'm thinking it would be better to detach the chair cushion since that's where you would normally click to sit. What do you think? Any other options come to mind? I really don't want to bump LI up to 18 by placing the script in the linkset. Thanks!
  2. There is a Jira here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7459
  3. I agree, send them another copy. I also send them a note recapping the details including any information they may have sent. I keep a copy of this note for myself including the customer name & date in the title so that it is easy for me to search for it if I need to. I also put a short note on their profile so that I can cross reference.

The majority of my furniture is no copy, mod, trans. If the customer breaks it they just have to return the remaining wreck to me and I will gladly replace it with a brand new one So far I haven't had anyone complaining that it was my fault that it broke.

This totally reminds me of an emergent 3rd world country I lived in, where the news about how the economy was growing, were abundant every day, but the severe basic problems that would (and did) come back to bite you in the butt, where just left unattended because people had grown used to them. There is even a jira on this issue https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-3140 for whatever good that does. The jira will be having it's 1 year anniversary in a few days...just sad. Looking at that Jira is a trip down memory lane as I see that I commented on in back on October 29, 2010 and have been watching it ever since. I agree that for Best Selling they should have removed the filter all together instead of letting it sit there broken as it is.
  7. Avalon Vesperia wrote: You mentioned that the only way to mess it up would be to add a script or something, and this interests me. I am a furniture maker and while I use sculpts at the moment I have been looking at mesh. But I will need to add scripts for sitting. What will it do once i do that to the costs? Good question. My understanding was that it would cost 1 extra PE per script. Hopefully someone here can verify the PE cost.
  8. Thanks, I voted. I noticed this a while back and adjusted accordingly. I can remember (almost like it was yesterday though it must have been years ago) when I went through everything and removed the duplicates I was using to make sure I could be found using both "antique" and "antiques". I didn't mind making the change then because it was a better system. Finding out that this had been reversed really sucks.

That is until some decision is made that seems a bit over the top and then it starts resembling something the forums here. That's understandable. I think what I'm trying to get at isn't that "complaining" is bad, but rather hmm .... feedback that's not positive isn't complaining at all, it's just feedback. It's not really complaining until people try to unite that into some unified voice, and even that's ok ... but then it turns into this thing that "you're for us or against us". At that point you can kiss a community of merchants goodbye, because the main purpose turns into trying to squeeze LL. At that point, people who have no problem start to get insulted and put into a box of "not one of us". You're either with us, or you're not a thinking person and now your entire logic must be defended. God forbid like one person the other day eluded that if it's that bad for you, leave. Even though leaving would be the loudest course of action, and most effective for all parties if you want to be honest about it. But now the popular argument is that we complain because we love SL. And I get that too, I really do. When the context is either complainer of cheerleader, and there are people that will ALWAYS take an angle that puts people into one of those boxes, it becomes something less than honest feedback. This is fake, and I think taking that people who harp on that kind of division are hucksters selling hair tonic off the back of a wagon. And ... it's weird. Let people have their opinions good or bad. They don't have to be complainers or fanbois or pro or con or anything but a person with an opinion. My take is that these forums are for any topic relating to commerce in SL, and related topics like virtual goods, etc. Watch it closely and you'll see what I mean, take away those labels and divisions and you have just people with opinions. And those people will get along much better no matter how much they agree or disagree. My gripes now as a non advocate are the same views that I've always had but wouldn't express because I thought I'd be adding fuel to an already strange thing we have going on sometimes in SL. Giving ammunition to trolls, etc. [snip] It's just feedback and opinion. It's not us vs. them, it's not cheerleader, fanboi, complainer and I certainly don't need to constantly convince people who are already complaining about the value of complaining. It's this kind of weirdness that makes me not recommend people to SL more than anything else. Makes me want to go back to advocating though Thanks for this! It's always unfortunate when a discussion with differing opinions gets derailed and becomes an "us vs. them" battle. At that point I usually just walk away because I don't have the patience for it. I would guess that is the case with others and so it turns into another opportunity lost.
  10. Though I'm sorry you're having problems, I just have to say your title for this thread is priceless. I'm still chuckling
  11. July was down a bit for me but August was great. Looking forward to an even better September
  12. Woohoo!! I've been waiting for 64m prims to be standard across the grid. So much new building to do!!
  13. Pamela Galli wrote: voted -- but it's from 2010 Thanks Pamela. Yes, Best Selling has been borked ever since it first came out so we've been waiting since 2010 for it to be fixed
  14. Candace Hudson wrote: Thanks for all the feedback :-) yes the more I look into it the more I see this has been going on for a while and is totally messed up. As for whether they plan to actually fix it we will see, mean time putting in support tickets might get some attention. I did file one but was told to file a bug jira. Now I can have fun trying to see if one has already been filed, we all have so much time to do all this instead of creating ... snickers, Here's a "Best Selling" jira that's been around for a while: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-3140

Chelsea Malibu wrote: Oh, and though this is not directly related, another idea but not critical would be to have a private forum for MP merchants so we can discuss our rants without the world seeing. I don't think the world needs to see our problems with MP as it does not shed a positive light on MP which in turn, may discourage some residents from using it. Better to air our dirty laundry among ourselves. Actually, there is a private Merchants Roundtable forum at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Merchants-Roundtable/bd-p/MerchantsRoundtable but I guess you would have to sign up to see it.
  16. @ Toy I've heard other people say that they only get G rated items on that link but for some reason I get M & A as well. ETA: Yes, I was logged into my dashboard when I tried it so that's probably why. Here is another spot to try: http://vip.search-phx.secondlife.com/
  17. @Toy If you want to try it out without using the viewer: http://search-beta.secondlife.com/ ETA: You can also try here: http://vip.search-phx.secondlife.com/
  18. @Brooke Yes, it's still broken for me: "The page you are trying to access was not found. Please check your URL for typos and try again." Go figure. I'm using IE 8 if that makes any difference.
  19. Hi Brooke For some odd reason I'm getting a "Page not found" from your posted link. I'll see if I can post a working one: Test Out New Search, Delivering More Relevant, Faster Results (Blog) Test Out New Search, Delivering More Relevan, Faster Results (Forum)
  20. Marcus Hancroft wrote: I have an item listed on Marketplace at a special price of $10L. One of those items delivered during the night last night and this morning I had a notification in my e-mail detailing the distribution. Below is the relevant information: "Purchased on: May 09, 2011 11:38 pm PDT Buyer's Price (for delivered items): L$10 Distributions Total (for delivered items): L$9 Marketplace Commission (for delivered items): L$1 Your Earnings (for delivered items): L$0" I thought the MP commission was 5%? If the commission was $9L on a $10L item, that's something on the order of 90% commission. Or are the rules different for inexpensive items? If I had an item listed as a freebie, would I then OWE commission to LL? According to this LL only took L$1 i.e. Marketplace Commission (for delivered items): L$1 which would be the 5% rounded. The Distributions Total (for delivered items): L$9 goes to the person you are splitting the sale with. Perhaps you have indicated this split in error? ETA: I see you came to the same conclusion at the same time I was posting this. Glad it worked out
  21. Though Geo Linden has marked the jira for this WEB-3795 as Fixed and Resolved it still doesn't work for me I hope that they do get this fixed soon as I'm sure it is scaring a lot of people and frustrating the hell out of the others. Whatever, it doesn't make for good business.
