  1. I was just talking about this with my partner also. It seems SL is really getting more & more deserted. LL has done a lot to de-populate SL. They stopped the educational discount, causing a lot of schools to close their online sims. That caused a sharp decline in users logging on. Homestead sims can now only be owned by those that already have a full sim, and the PRICES! OMG. Stores are closing up all over. The tier is high & the marketplace is free. Each week I get a notice of 1-3 stores having their final sale before they close up for the marketplace. Sex has little to do with it, LL moved that to one continent. (Zindra I think?). (Setting your viewer for PG areas only will keep you out of adult areas) LL did this to partly to court business, but most business could not be bothered with the long learning curve or expense of land when they can have tele-conferences free with skype. LL also closed the teen grid, putting teens in with the general SL population. Many of my friends stopped logging in because of this. They told me They have their own teens at home to put up with & don't want to put up with them in their off time. They also said the trolling & griefing went up a lot more, since the teens are on the main grid. There are a lot of factors involved in SL's slow death spiral. I don't see it coming back unless LL reverses all those bad decisions they made since 2010, but I doubt it. LL is putting it's resources into other games now.
  2. I keep making items in SL for the store I have created on the marketplace. I put them into my merchant outbox upload them & get " All folders were successfully sent to the Marketplace." The outbox folder is empty, yet nothing ever gets to my store. I have tried everything. Changing permissions. Relogging etc. etc. I looked for failed imports but it tells me I have no failed imports, yet my items are just gone. No error message, no items in my store or merchant outbox folder, nadda. I am ready to give up.
  3. I too will be moving to Inworldz. A lot of my friends have moved there. Most are builders. They love the cheap land & the free texture uploads. For me, SL was fun the first couple of years but these last 2 years it has been a tooth & nail struggle of errors & problems. More people on SL? SL is like a ghost town lately, I often say to the screen as I roam around "Nice build, but where is everyone?" Come November, this SL account goes back to basic as I complete my move. I will loose some of the bells and whistles of SL, but look how much I will gain. :smileyvery-happy:
  4. 11.07.12.235430 "Avatar Visibility" project. deployed 2011-07-13 Avatar Visibility This new feature adds the ability to control if residents on a parcel are visible to others outside that parcel, as well as the ability to see them. In other words, if TheFirst Resident is on one parcel and TheSecond Resident is on another, while this feature is enabled on either parcel, they will not see each other. Text chat on channel zero is blocked following the same rules. While this feature works with all viewer, a new version is required to change these options. In the version 2.8 viewer, the About Land / Options dialog will have a new checkbox. The llGetParcelDetails() function will now accept a new parameter PARCEL_DETAILS_SEE_AVATARS that may be passed into the function, and it will return an integer flag indicating if the setting is on or off. Both the large map and mini map work as before. Green dots will indicate the approximate location of an avatar, regardless of this new parcel setting. LSL sensors will function normally, and can detect the presence of avatars on parcels with this setting enabled. Text chat on channels other than zero are not blocked by this setting. If an avatar is on a vehicle with this feature enabled, the entire vehicle will not be seen. All existing parcels in Second Life default to the old behavior (showing residents on the parcel). To enable this feature on your parcel, you must have the new viewer with appropriate permissions, and then turn off the checkbox above. If the new viewer is used on an older simulator, the option will be checked and disabled. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlGetParcelDetails http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/PARCEL_DETAILS_SEE_AVATARS
